Zoo Trucks

IT’S NATIONAL FOOD TRUCK DAY 2020 National Food Truck Day is always celebrated on the last Friday of June, and this year it’s back and bigger than ever. On June 26th, 2020, get out and show some love for the hardworking entrepreneurs cooking up the Missoula’s tastiest, most innovative food.
The MUG’s Guide to over 40 mouth-watering food trucks in and around Missoula
As we were preparing to launch The Missoula Underground, one category we knew would be useful and interesting right away would be food trucks. Or what we like to call ‘Zoo Trucks‘. Whether you’re getting out during the week when the weather is good for Caras Park Downtown Popups (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), or taking in any of the farmers’ markets, food trucks and mobile food carts are an integral part of the Missoula culinary community. Even in the winter, it’s not unusual at all to find one or a couple trucks downtown feeding the bar crowd late at night, and parked outside most of our microbreweries every night of the week. Many of the craft markets during the holidays also have a few food vendors participating in their events.
It’s not hard to eat healthy, eat guiltily, and eat your way around the world with the variety of mobile food vendors in Missoula. Whatever your hangry belly is craving right at this moment, there’s a very good chance somewhere in or around town you’ll find four wheels and a window with smiling culinary wizards inside just waiting to satisfy your desire.

Mobile to Mortar
Several popular food trucks have leveraged their popularity into becoming happening brick & mortar restaurants (such as Dobi’s Teriyaki, and Wally & Buck). And any number of well-established restaurants and food favorites in town continue to maintain their mobile versions as well (like El Cazador, Big Dipper, and Burns St.’s Beastro). The majority, though, are simply their own entities – created and operated by passionate local Missoulians who are slingin’ fantastic fare wherever our weird and varied tastes take us around town.
Back to the beginning here…
When we set out to catalogue all the local Missoula area food trucks, we figured there were around 25 or maybe 30. How about over 40? So now, you can visit The Missoula Underground any time to find them. Simply choose the “Zoo Trucks” category from the Guides tab at the top of our website, and surf your way to what’s for lunch or dinner right now at the #zootrucks of your choice.
BTW, if we missed any local #zootrucks, or if any info or links are missing for existing mobile food vendors, please drop us a note at [email protected] – thanks!
