Labor Day Weekend Picks: Thursday, September 2nd thru Monday, September 6th

Well, hello September! Cooler weather is making for fantastic days (and nights) to be outdoors. Who’s ready for a long Labor Day holiday weekend? We are! Some of the top-of-the-list events include the Ravalli and Sanders County Fairs, the Helmville Rodeo, the season kickoff (away) game for Griz Football, major concerts at the KettleHouse Ampitheater – and – maybe the best, our beloved annual Missoula Maggot Fest! Since many folks have Monday off, there are a lot more things to do on Sunday evening than usual. Get out, sleep in, make the most of it.
The MUG is here with all the happenings this weekend around Missoula, and up the Bitterroot and Flathead valleys. School is back in session – welcome back UM students, GO GRIZ! There’s live local music all over the place. Get out and enjoy our area farmers markets, bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. And – floating the river is almost over, enjoy what’s left of summer while we can. Please enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please note that events are subject to cancellation or change at the last minute. Be sure to check the event links to confirm your plans.
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

To listen to Drake White’s music is to fully experience the soul and rhythm of his upbringing in the Appalachian foothills of Northeastern Alabama. The undeniable sound of his soulful voice has whipped concert audiences across the country into a frenzy as Drake and his band, The Big Fire, raise the roof and summon spirits to life onstage. It’s equal parts Baptist tent revival and amped-up southern rock festival. As you watch Drake crank the energy level up higher and higher throughout the night, you feel as if you’d walked in on a live gospel album backed up by all-stars from The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Of course those acts hit musical pay dirt recording in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in the late ‘60s and ‘70s, a little over two hours west of Drake’s tiny hometown of Hokes Bluff.
