About Death Cab for Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie originally formed in Bellingham, WA, in 1997 with their cassette-only Elsinore Records release, You Can Play These Songs With Chords (later expanded and reissued by Barsuk in 2002). The group, which appropriated its name from a song title by ’60s UK rock ensemble The Bonzo Dog Band, has consistently released outstanding albums over the years, gaining a wider audience and seeping into the consciousness of mainstream America with the success of their latest albums, the most recent of which were released by Atlantic Records. The band remains a core member of the Barsuk family, however, and we continue to release their albums on vinyl, including the reissues of their first four albums on 180-gram vinyl, as well as 2015’s Kintsugi and 2018’s Thank You For Today. In addition to the Ben Gibbard lo-fi solo project All-Time Quarterback CD reissue from a few years back, and Ben’s more recent Former Lives album, we also released the Chris Walla solo project, Field Manual, and the Steve Fisk & Benjamin Gibbard score to the film Kurt Cobain About A Son.

ASPHALT MEADOWS TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUEST LOMELDA

About Lomelda

Lomelda is Hannah Read’s musical project. In swampy, sweaty, Silsbee, TX, she first formed the band with her high school best friends. Throughout the next decade, Lomelda mad a habit out of stretching to fit new friendships and shrinking down to solo strummings. Four albums and a never-the-same live show chronicle these shifts in shape and sound.

Lomelda’s fifth, upcoming album is called Hannah. The album stretches and shrinks into many of Lomelda’s different forms, from expansive “Wonder” and rock band “Reach” to meandering “StrangerSat By Me” and finger picking “It’s Infinite”. Through this range of moods, Hannah sings stories of strangers, suns, dogs, moms, brothers, favorite bands, “oh god!”s and big shots as well as herself, byname. She rejoices and reviles her god-given name and then flips it around to name herself Hannah once again. It is an album of confession and transformation made ultimately singable.

Hannah was produced by Hannah and her brother Tommy Read at his studio in Silsbee, TX. Over the span of a year and some change, it was recorded three different times before Hannah called it complete. In this, its final 14 song shape, Hannah will be released on September 4, 2020, by Double Double Whammy.
