Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music and experiencing the success that comes with a television show on Animal Planet (Flipping Ships), McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights. “The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 48-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today, and I remember that. I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this” McCain said. Those enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts. 2018 marks the 20th year of the success of “I’ll Be,” which topped the Billboard charts in 1998 and has proven to be a timeless classic over the past two decades.

David Simmons (Opening), son of Don and Pat Simmons, is an honors graduate of the University of Montana School of Music with additional vocal study in Vienna Austria. His diverse career as a performer and educator has taken him to all 50 states, 19 countries, and 4 continents. He has performed live with Alice Cooper, Bob Hope, The USO, and members of REO Speedwagon, Ah-Ha, Sly & The Family Stone, The Phoenix Symphony, The Schubert Kirche Orchester (Vienna), and the Vancouver BC Symphony Orchestra. In the studio, he has worked with Tony Levin of King Crimson, Tom Politzer of Tower of Power, and producer Gardner Cole (Madonna, Amy Grant). He also had the honor of serving as Music Director, Bassist, and Featured Soloist on tour with Motown Recording Artists: THE DRIFTERS. David’s work in education includes being Education Director and Teaching Artist for Arizona Broadway Theater, Fort Peck Montana Fine Arts Council, Desert Foothills Theater, and as a Teaching Artist for Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center, AZ Child’s Play Theater, Scottsdale Desert Stages Theater, Wyoming Council on The Arts, the Missoula Children’s Theater’s International Residencies, and of course working with thousands of students, educators, and families as Executive Director and Teaching Artist for UBU. Whether in a major stadium, rock club, concert hall, coffee house, classroom, or the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, David brings a special blend of energy, talent, and engaging positivity to every class he teaches and every concert, conference, and festival appearance he makes. David is father to one son, Niko (an aspiring opera singer), and makes his home in rural Iowa with his true love and fiancé, Tamara.
