Missoula Chamber Music Collective presents: Songbook at UM School of Music Recital Hall
SONGBOOK features David Maslanka’s beautiful work of the same name for alto saxophone and marimba. To continue with the theme of songs, Andrew Beall’s Song of ‘Almah sets the text of the Song of Solomon to music for soprano and marimba. Brad Mehldau is known for his Grammy-winning piano trio, but he also collaborates with the best singers, writing original songs for Renee Fleming, Anne Sophie von Otter and Ian Bostridge. We will share one selection from his setting of Rainier Maria Rilke’s Book of Hours. Finally, in Come Down Heavy, Evan Chambers transforms well-known American folksongs into a thrilling piece for violin, saxophone and piano.
Artists: Caitlin Cisler (soprano), Jesse Dochnahl (saxophone), Kira Lee (violin), and Jeff Taylor (marimba).
Our Mission:The Missoula Underground is a hyper-local blog about the best the Missoula area has to offer: food/beverages, music, events, activities, local people and business.
Hyper-local means we don’t write about anything that isn't owned or locally managed or operated in the Missoula area. No corporate chains or businesses operated by investment groups from out of Montana.
We have a growing all-volunteer team of bloggers and contributors. We’re here because we care about our beloved Missoula area and want to showcase the best of what's here and what we love to do.
When you share our articles, you become part of a force for good in and around Missoula.
