About Uncommon Evolution
Uncommon Evolution is genuine Mountain Rock from the Flathead Valley, Montana USA. With ‘fiery vocals, big ballsy riffs’, ‘these guys have honed a sound truly their own, though their wide ranging influences shine through in a cornucopia of flavor’. ‘Highly recommended if you like Clutch, Down, The Sword, Hellyeah, Crowbar, Black Label Society, Crobot, Corrosion Of Conformity, High on Fire & the Atomic Bitchwax.’ Described as ‘Montana’s burliest of grit and groove’, since forming in the spring of 2013 and signing with Argonauta Records in 2017, they have toured the country with their heavy sound. Performing and recording five albums, the most recent, Fry, released winter 2023.

Uncommon Evolution is Briar Gillund, Lead vox-Guitar; Matt Niles, Drums; River Riotto, Lead Guitar; Rick Bushnell, Bass.

“Whether you call it ‘doomy and sludgy stoner rock’ or ‘southern heavy mountain rock’, for sure it’s ‘burly and bearded!”
~ Doomed and Stoned.

“It’s not often that I love a release from the first notes, but that’s what happened here. These 5 tracks are in your face, punch you in the gut, turn that sucker to ’11’ and celebrate ‘Merica’ kinda songs. Get in the van loser… were going to Montana”
~ Metal Temple Magazine

Favorite shows and venues, have been music festivals across the state including Rocky Mountain Riff Fest, Mosh in the Mountains, Tot Fest, The Wilma and Kettlehouse Amphitheater opening for larger acts, Clutch and Shinedown, along with many others along the west coast. South by South West Festival in Austin Texas is always a favorite as well as recording at the Machine Shop Recording Studio. Together, with Argonauta Records, Machine (producer) & Julian Gargiulo (engineer) the band has recorded five EPs: Junkyard Jesus, Algid and most recently Fry. Self titled EP and Live Now Pay Later, produced by Alberto DeIcaza.
