The evening will include performances by musician\, Terry Conrad\, at 6:00 pm\, 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. \n\n\n\nOTHERWISE features new work by 20 artists who participated in Open AIR’s 2025 Artists-in-Residence program. Across the exhibition\, artists explore the intersections of science\, history\, and imagined worlds\, often merging these influences into distinct and self-defined genres. Several works reflect on life in a near future\, offering both preparation\, adaptation\, and musings for tomorrow. Other works pull from pieces of history and place\, and model or offer a type of field guide to the near future about what is precious – over and over\, it is place and community. Their messages feel especially wise in today’s climate. \n\n\n\nDrawing inspiration from their residency sites\, artists employed a range of approaches—some engaging traditional making techniques\, others assembling found materials into new forms\, or developing works intended for performance within the exhibition space. \n\n\n\nOTHERWISE offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the Open AIR residency experience. The exhibition invites the public to encounter the diverse perspectives and creative expressions that emerge when artists deeply engage with place and community\, and to consider the processes and pathways that led to the realization of each work.
