He musically accesses a space without boundaries where all are welcome to commune openly and move freely. Through quotable folk-inspired lyrics\, breezy grooves\, and roots energy\, it’s as if he’s giving you permission to be that pure self you can’t always be at work or even at home… \n\n\n\nThe Rhode Island-based singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist also puts his words into action via his “Kind Folk” fan community\, activating small acts of kindness\, charity\, and goodwill in tandem with performances nationwide. After generating over 50 million streams independently\, he inspires once again through a series of 2024 releases and much more to come. \n\n\n\n“I want to make music that moves you\,” he states. “It’s rooted in compassion\, kindness\, and community. The lyrics wrestle with life’s highs and lows only to lift off on the anthemic refrain\, “We lit the fire in the wild of the great unknown.” \n\n\n\n“It talks about how the mistakes you make and the lessons you learn in life are what really shape you\,” he goes on. “All of those things are important to help you on your journey\, rather than shutting them out and considering them failures. You need to be strong enough to own those experiences and actions. Life is just a wild ride.” \n\n\n\nOn “Lay Our Weapons Down\,” his mesmerizing vocals practically float atop lithe acoustic guitar. To some\, Hot Tuna is a reminder of some wild and happy times. To others\, that name will forever be linked to their own discovery of the power and depth of American blues and roots music. To newer fans\, Hot Tuna is a tight\, masterful duo that is on the cutting edge of great music. \n\n\n\nAll of those things are correct\, and more. For more than four decades\, Hot Tuna has played\, toured\, and recorded some of the best and most memorable acoustic and electric music ever. And Hot Tuna is still going strong — some would say stronger than ever. \n\n\n\nThe two kids from 1950s Washington\, D.C. knew that they wanted to make music. Jorma Kaukonen\, son of a State Department official\, and Jack Casady\, whose father was a dentist\, discovered guitar when they were teenagers (Jack\, four years younger\, barely so). They played\, and they took in the vast panorama of music available in the nation’s capital\, but found a special love of the blues\, country\, and jazz played in small clubs. \n\n\n\nJorma went off to college\, while Jack sat in with professional bands and combos before he was even old enough to drive\, first playing lead guitar\, then electric bass. \n\n\n\nIn the mid-1960s\, Jorma was invited to play in a rock‘n’roll band that was forming in San Francisco; he knew just the guy to play bass and summoned his old friend from back east. The striking signature guitar and bass riffs in the now-legendary songs by the Jefferson Airplane were the result. \n\n\n\nThe half-decade foray into 1960s San Francisco rock music was for Jack and Jorma an additional destination\, not the final one. They continued to play their acoustic blues on the side\, sometimes performing a mini-concert amid a Jefferson Airplane performance\, sometimes finding a gig afterward in some local club. They were\, as Jack says\, “Scouting\, always scouting\, for places where we could play.” \n\n\n\nThe duo did not go unnoticed\, and soon there was a record contract and not long afterward a tour. Thus began a career that would result in more than two-dozen albums\, thousands of concerts around the world\, and continued popularity. \n\n\n\nHot Tuna has gone through changes\, certainly. A variety of other instruments\, from harmonica to fiddle to keyboards\, have been part of the band over the years\, and continue to be\, varying from project to project. The constant\, the very definition of Hot Tuna\, has always been Jorma and Jack. \n\n\n\nThe two are not joined at the hip\, though; through the years\, both Jorma and Jack have undertaken projects with other musicians and solo projects of their own. But Hot Tuna has never broken up\, never ceased to exist\, nor have the two boyhood pals ever wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in music. \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, they have been joined by a succession of talented musicians: Drummers\, harmonica players\, keyboardists\, backup singers\, violinists and more\, all fitting with Jorma and Jack’s current place in the musical spectrum. Jorma and Jack certainly could not have imagined\, let alone predicted\, where the playing would take them. It’s been a long and fascinating road to numerous\, exciting destinations. Two things have never changed: They still love playing as much as they did as kids in Washington\, D.C. and there are still many\, many exciting miles yet to travel on their musical odyssey.

In the event of cancellation due to extreme weather\, tickets will not be refunded. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Tedeschi Trucks BandGo back to December 31\, 2008 when guitarist Derek Trucks and his wife\, singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi\, were preparing to ring in the New Year. Married since 1999\, these two soulmates\, equally steeped in the musical roots of blues\, jazz\, and gospel\, had finally decided the time was right to set aside their successful solo careers and commit to a new band melding their vision and talent. It wasn’t the first time they had collaborated; they had shared a stage countless times and traded album guest appearances\, all while starting a family together. But on that night\, hitting the stage together with members of the Derek Trucks Band and a guest horn section they heard the future. \n\n\n\n“The 12-piece outfit puts out a big band sound that still rings intimate\, shaking listeners to their emotional core.” – Rolling Stone \n\n\n\nTwo years later\, the couple debuted Tedeschi Trucks Band. The nation’s economy was heading into recession. The popular music landscape was filled with technological theatrics and auto-tuned singers. And here were Tedeschi and Trucks along with their (then) 8-member band\, loading up two tour buses and hitting the road with a sound that defied conventional genre boundaries or traditional labels; a gypsy caravan on the rock-and-roll highway. To call it ambitious was an understatement. \n\n\n\n“They’re a roots-music tour de force\, and there’s a strong case to be made that they’ve been America’s best band of the decade.” – Austin American Statesman \n\n\n\nIn pursuit of their ideal sound driven by world class musicianship\, Tedeschi and Trucks put together a musical collaborative like no other\, flying in the face of any practical or economic considerations. There have been evolutionary changes to the band along the way\, but the current line up includes the freight-train force of drummers Tyler Greenwell and Isaac Eady\, long-time Derek Trucks Band member Mike Mattison\, with his dynamic vocals and songwriting skills\, Brandon Boone (bass guitar)\, Gabe Dixon (keyboards)\, the three-piece horn section of Kebbi Williams (saxophone)\, Ephraim Owens (trumpet)\, and Elizabeth Lea (trombone)\, and Mark Rivers and Alecia Chakour on vocal duties with Mattison. In February 2019\, original band member and brilliant multi-instrumentalist Kofi Burbridge passed away\, leaving an indelible mark on TTB’s spirit and sound. \n\n\n\nOn the road for upwards of 200 days a year\, the TTB family has grown strong\, bonding over backyard BBQs and long bus rides\, all the while developing a growing repertoire of original material and paying homage to an extensive canon of influences ranging from Sly & the Family Stone\, Miles Davis and George Jones to Joe Cocker\, Nina Simone\, and even Indian sarod master Ali Akbar Khan. Embracing improvisation over convention\, and with set lists that change nightly\, the collective is adept at exploring almost any musical territory. The genuine respect within its ranks is evident on stage. Trucks’ masterful guitar skills and Tedeschi’s soaring vocals and bluesy guitar shine but don’t overpower the breadth of talent\, happily yielding the spotlight as needed in service of what the song deserves. \n\n\n\n“I saw them live and it was mind blowing. [Derek] has taken the guitar\, specifically slide guitar\, somewhere it has never been. His phrasing both with and without slide is uniquely his and just odd and jarring and exciting to listen to. [Susan] is an earnest blues player as well and her voice is astounding. The band was mind-blowing. They take a form that is arguably tired and turn it inside out with originality and musicianship and make it totally their own.” – Marc Maron \n\n\n\nTrucks and Tedeschi’s uncompromising vision has paid off. Now 12-members strong\, and with a catalog of seven albums and nearly a decade of steady touring in the U.S. and abroad\, Tedeschi Trucks Band carries a distinguished reputation earned from both audiences and critics as one of the premier live bands in the world. Sold-out multi-night runs at venerable venues like the Beacon Theatre\, Ryman Auditorium and Red Rocks Amphitheater are a testament to the can’t-miss concert experience fans have come to anticipate. The band’s own “Wheels of Soul” tour has become a sought-after summer experience across the country\, bringing TTB’s unique stew of upbeat rock and soul together on stage with a slew of guests\, sit ins\, and supporting bands that have included the late Sharon Jones\, Los Lobos  The Wood Brothers\, Hot Tuna and most recently Blackberry Smoke\, The Marcus King Band and Drive-By Truckers. \n\n\n\n“Epic is an overused word\, but if one contemporary rock band were to rightfully wear it\, the Tedeschi Trucks Band might be the ones.” – Santa Barbara Independent \n\n\n\nTTB’s most recent release\, Layla Revisited (Live At LOCKN’) featuring Trey Anastasio\, is a 2CD/3LP live recording of their “now-legendary” (Relix) performance of the classic Derek and the Dominos album. It  joins an impressive and growing discography that includes Signs (2019)\, Let Me Get By (2016)\, Made Up Mind (2013)\, and the Grammy-winning debut\, Revelator (2011) in addition to their earlier live releases\, the Grammy-nominated film/audio\, Live From The Fox Oakland (2017)\, and 2012’s Everybody’s Talkin’. \n\n\n\nIn the midst of the rare time off during the pandemic\, the band convened in the studio to write and record a wealth of new songs for a future studio album. As the recording progresses towards an expected release in 2022\, the album is growing into a unique and exciting conceptual project.  It’s clear that Trucks and Tedeschi have no intention of slowing down. As Trucks remarked to Mark Maron on his WTF podcast “I haven’t found this band’s ceiling yet.” For Tedeschi Trucks Band\, there may not be one.

Plankenhorn’s musical style encompasses elements of blues\, folk\, Americana\, and roots music\, creating a sound that’s uniquely his own. \n\n\n\nFor Jeff Plankenhorn\, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of bringing people together to experience the joy music brings. He’s so good at it that he’s been recognized with Austin Music Award nominations for Musician of the Year\, Best Guitarist\, and a win Best Misc. Instrument – for “The Plank” a hybrid lap steel guitar Jeff designed himself. In 2016-2017\, he also earned Album and Song of the Year nominations for his album\, SoulSlide\, and the single “Trouble Find Me.” Listeners quickly get that Plank loves a good groove\, but he’s also become quite accomplished at composing ballads\, as proven by two of the album’s other standouts\, “Bluer Skies” and You’ll Stay.” These days\, Plank happily finds himself on the road over 150 days a year. “I like the idea that people get uplifted at my shows; just one of the great ways to escape the hubbub of day-to-day living. I like the idea that everybody who walks in — I don’t care if you’re a biker or a drag queen — I want you there. Music is supposed to bring people together.” His music does exactly that — whether people come to listen or do a little dancing. – John Apice/Americana Highways 9/28/23 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLongstaff House always looks forward to the musicians Tom Catmull brings us from his songwriting workshops.  Tom is one of those guys who makes the Missoula music scene so special\n\n\n\nTom Catmull is a word enthusiast. They are the larger part of what makes his world go round. He’s spent the last twenty-five years in his adopted hometown of Missoula presenting words in ways to make them as alluring as possible to people who crave such things. The tricks useful to achieving this feat include infectious melody\, thoughtful arrangement\, storytelling\, some finger picking and a clean shirt. The last couple of decades have included seven full length albums\, a few television appearances (Montana PBS 11th and Grant)\, a hundred theaters performances (The Wilma\, The Rex\, The Roxy\, The Dennison\, etc)\, dozens of festivals\, countless honkytonks and two ridiculously fun national anthems. He’s been the supporting act for Robert Earl Keen\, Charlie Musselwhite\, Junior Brown\, Asleep at the Wheel and a dozen others. There exists some confidence that his roots driven Americana songs are worthy of your time. Don’t be fooled\, though. The acoustic guitar\, harmonica and hat are just cheap ploys to get the words out in front of you.
