We can do an easy 4-5 mile loop overlooking the Moon-Randolph Homestead. There are good options along the way for doing a shorter loop. \n\n\n\nWaterworks Trailhead – Trailhead Location \n\n\n\nTrail Map \n\n\n\nItems to bring:– Layers of clothing – Water                    – Snacks– Headlamp             – Bear spray     We have lots of folks coming in and out each week. Here are some good rules of thumb:* Try to get the group started soon after 6:00 pm* Do intros\, ask if we have any new folks and get a head count* Break into groups if needed & find someone to coordinate each group* You don’t have to be the fastest in the group to lead but just make sure we don’t leave someone behind* Have fun! \n\n\n\nNote: Friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us on hikes. If your pup can be aggressive or unpredictable around other dogs/people\, please leave them at home. If your dog isn’t under voice control\, please plan to leash them up for your hike. Bring a headlamp or some kind of light with you. When the snow begins to fall\, you will want foot grippers such as Kahtoola or other types or make your own Screw Shoes.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate 25 years of outdoor shenanigans with the Montana Dirt Girls when they host an anniversary Jumbo Celebration Hike starting from the Lincoln Hills Saddle trailhead at 6:00 pm Tuesday\, April 7\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate 25 years of hiking\, biking\, skiing and various shenanigans in the outdoors with Montana Dirt Girls! The plan is to hike from the Lincoln Hills saddle to the top of Jumbo\, pop some champagne & enjoy the company and views.It’s hard to believe\, but 25 years ago we had the first Montana Dirt Girls bike ride. It was born out of frustration that there wasn’t a women’s mountain bike group for new riders to learn skills and meet others who had similar interests. Now we are doing it and then some! \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n*Yourself\, most importantly!*Food to share at the top of Jumbo if you can (don’t let this stop you\, we’d rather just have you show up) \n\n\n\n*Good energy in helping to enjoy the spirit we have all created over the past years. \n\n\n\n* Wear some fun clothing (tutu’s\, crazy hats and sparkles welcome)Trailhead LocationMap of Route \n\n\n\nThe hike will be about 4 miles with 1000’ of elevation gain. \n\n\n\nIt might be a good idea to leave dogs at home this time or have them leashed at the top as we’ll have food on the ground that will be tempting for them to enjoy.

DESCRIPTION:Meet up at Missoula’s Waterworks Trailhead Parking lot at 6:00 pm Tuesday\, April 14 with Montana Dirt Girls for a North Hills Wildflower Walk\n\n\n\n\n\nThe North Hills are popping with wildflowers now! Come enjoy a stroll up Cherry Gulch then up to the ridge. Head past the Randolph Ranch and loop back to the start.Trailhead LocationMap of Route \n\n\n\nThe hike will be about 4 miles with 700’ of elevation gain. \n\n\n\nNote: Kay & Julie will both be gone the next two weeks\, but you know what to do!We have lots of folks coming in and out each week. \n\n\n\nHere are some good rules of thumb:* Try to get the group started soon after 6:00 pm* Do intros\, ask if we have any new folks and get a head count* Break into groups if needed & find someone to coordinate each group* You don’t have to be the fastest in the group to lead but just make sure we don’t leave someone behind* Have fun!Special Hiking Notes:Hikes are geared to an intermediate level of exertion. We gather up at each turn in the trail to keep us headed in the right direction and close together. The only time we will spread out will be on out and back trails. \n\n\n\nNote: Friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us on hikes. If your pup can be aggressive or unpredictable around other dogs/people\, please leave them at home. If your dog isn’t under voice control\, please plan to leash them up for your hike. Also\, make sure you check if the area is open to dogs. There are several closures that start Dec 1 and some are yearlong. It’s also good to know the trail-specific leash protocol.
