She was the first female comic to host the White House Correspondents Dinner. She filed live coverage of the 1992 Democratic and Republican National Conventions and the Presidential Inaugural for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at the 93rd Emmy Awards. Paula has starred in two television series\, both entitled The Paula Poundstone Show. Paula’s second book\, The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness\, was one of eight semi-finalists for the Thurber Prize For American Humor; the audiobook was one of five finalists for the AUDIE award for Audiobook of the Year. An evening of holiday big band classics\, a live and silent auction\, and delicious appetizers by Top Hat Catering. \n\n\n\nThe Holiday Swing provides vital funds for the UM Jazz Program supporting scholarships\, faculty and guest artists as well as national and international touring opportunities.  The UM Jazz Ensemble toured Europe in summer of 2024 and California in 2025. \n\n\n\nThe Holiday Swing’s special guest this year is grammy nominated vocalist Jamie Shew (Los Angeles). Jamie  has performed internationally as with some of the greatest musicians in the business. \n\n\n\nThank you for supporting the University of Montana Jazz Program by attending this fun-filled event.

A wide variety of songs are welcome\, but ones with catchy choruses\, call and response\, or that are generally “sing-along-able” work best. We take turns leading songs\, and everyone joins in on the chorus or other repeated parts. It’s also totally fine to just sing along!
