SUMMARY:House of Sky Hike or MTB Ride with Montana Dirt Girls
DESCRIPTION:Meet up with the Montana Dirt Girls at 6:00 pm Tuesday\, June 16 at the Pattee Canyon Gravel Pit Parking Area for a MTB Ride or Hike up to Missoula’s House of Sky Trail on Mount Dean Stone\n\n\n\n\n\nHouse of Sky \n\n\n\nApparently the flower bloom is off the hook at House of Sky\, so lets head up there!We will need to do a shuttle so we’ll meet at the Pattee Canyon Gravel Pit parking area (Gasworks) near the Mt Sentinel South Trailhead. \n\n\n\nThe route is about 9 miles with 1000’ elevation gain\, but 2600’ down. We’ll shuttle up to start on House of Sky\, then hook up with High Wide and Handsome\, before finishing down the Barmeyer Trail. \n\n\n\nHikers who don’t want to go that far can do an out & back route. \n\n\n\nWe’ve been getting more hikers each week\, so if you don’t feel like riding\, plan to hike! \n\n\n\nTrailhead LocationMap of Possible Route \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nItems to bring:\n\n\n\n\nwater                    * snacks       \n\n\n\nlayers of clothing  * bear spray  \n\n\n\nspare tube & change kit\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have lots of folks coming in and out each week. \n\n\n\nHere are some good rules of thumb:* Try to get the group started soon after 6:00 pm* Do intros\, ask if we have any new folks and get a head count* Break into groups if needed & find someone to coordinate each group* You don’t have to be the fastest in the group to lead but just make sure we don’t leave someone behind* Have fun! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNote: Friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us on hikes. If your pup can be aggressive or unpredictable around other dogs/people\, please leave them at home. If your dog isn’t under voice control\, please plan to leash them up for your hike. Also\, make sure you check if the area is open to dogs. There are several closures that start Dec 1 and some are yearlong. It’s also good to know the trail-specific leash protocol.
