DESCRIPTION:Join the Montana Dirt Girls at Missoula’s Sousa Trailhead off Spanish Peaks Drive for a Tuesday Night Hike up the Sousa and High\, Wide and Handsome trails starting at 6:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\nSousa and High\, Wide and Handsome HikeMeet up at the Sousa Trailhead at 6:00 pm Tuesday\, February 3.We can hike up the Sousa Trail to the overlook\, then continue up to High\, Wide and Handsome. This hike will be a there-and-back\, so folks can decide if they want to have a longer or shorter hike. We might get up into snow and ice on the north-facing slopes\, so grippers are a good idea!Trailhead location \n\n\n\nTrail MapItems to bring:*water                    * snacks * headlamp             * bear spray         * layers of clothing  * grippersWe have lots of folks coming in and out each week.Here are some good rules of thumb: \n\n\n\n\nTry to get the group started soon after 6:00 pm\n\n\n\nDo intros\, ask if we have any new folks and get a head count\n\n\n\nBreak into groups if needed & find someone to coordinate each group\n\n\n\nYou don’t have to be the fastest in the group to lead but just make sure we don’t leave someone behind\n\n\n\nHave fun!\n\n\n\n\nNote: Friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us on hikes. If your pup can be aggressive or unpredictable around other dogs/people\, please leave them at home. If your dog isn’t under voice control\, please plan to leash them up for your hike. Also\, make sure you check if the area is open to dogs. There are several closures that start December 1 and some are yearlong. It’s also good to know the trail-specific leash protocol.

But within those\, Donato has carved out a unique and individualized spot for himself\, one that speaks to the deep American music heritage that inspires him — and that he’s pushing towards the future with inspired\, intentional vigor. \n\n\n\nHe calls it Cosmic Country\, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang; a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West\, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California\, tie-dye and plaid\, it’s a world of his own\, and a wide world of musical adventure at that. \n\n\n\nWhile growing up in Nashville his his father\, who turned his young son on to music of all genres\, suggested the fledgling and industriously minded (even at just 14) artist start busking in Nashville’s lower Broadway area and outside concerts\, for eight hours at a time on the weekends. One night\, the two happened by Robert’s Western World where legendary honky-tonk local mainstay the Don Kelly Band were performing. Donato eventually became a member of the band\, playing four hours a night at Robert’s (464 shows in total). \n\n\n\nHorizons is the follow up to 2023’s Reflector\, which received critical acclaim from a wide range of press\, including No Depression\, Glide Magazine\, Magnet Magazine\, and more. Donato the subject of features in Rolling Stone\, UPROXX\, Garden & Gun and Relix. Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country made their network television debut on CBS Saturday Morning and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic online series. \n\n\n\nThe whole package of player\, singer\, writer and band leader was in place. Three albums in\, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country\, featuring Nathan “Sugarlegg” Aronowitz (keyboards/guitars/vocals)\, Will “Mustang” McGee (bass/vocals) and Will “Bronco” Clark (drums\, percussion/vocals) are selling out venues throughout the country and bringing their brand of Cosmic Country to an ever growing\, passionate fanbase.

McLuhan\, who died in 1980\, had never heard of the internet\, YouTube\, music streaming platforms – and neither did the vast majority of songwriters whose work she champions: Frank Loesser\, Meredith Willson\, Ray Noble\, Sammy Cahn\, or Jimmy Van Heusen.  Likewise\, none of the great artists whose legacy she honors\, like Judy Garland\, Frank Sinatra\, Nat “King” Cole\, or Rosemary Clooney\, would know what it meant to “go viral.” As it happens\, this is how Stella Cole first got noticed by the music industry and\, more importantly\, the larger world beyond: by performing her own interpretations of classic American popular standards and using the internet to share them.  However\, a closer look reveals that these iconic artists were no less keen to embrace new media: long-playing recordings\, television\, stereophonic sound – these were all new technologies in the 1940s and ‘50s. The idea of bringing classic American songs to new platforms hardly begins with the young Stella\, yet she has accomplished that more resoundingly successfully than virtually any other artist working today. Stella is quickly becoming known for her signature mix of jazz standards\, Broadway gems\, and beloved tunes from the Great American Songbook. Her sound is familiar\, yet fresh and stands at the crossroads of past and present\, classic and contemporary.
