SUMMARY:North Fork Crossing with Silas Herman & the Tone Unit at the Second Story
DESCRIPTION:Foundation Entertainment presents North Fork Crossing + Silas Herman and the Tone Unit performing live from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm Friday\, October 23 and Saturday\, October 24 at The Second Story / 101 Central in Whitefish\n\n\n\n\n\nTwo nights. Two powerhouse string bands. One very special Whitefish run. \n\n\n\nNorth Fork Crossing and Silas Herman & The Tone Unit come together for a special two-night engagement at The Second Story above 101 Central in Downtown Whitefish\, bringing an evening of bluegrass\, jamgrass\, Americana\, psychedelic folk\, and old-time string music to an intimate indoor room. \n\n\n\nNorth Fork Crossing is a new-age bluegrass band living somewhere between the traditional world of timeless fiddle tunes and ballads and the wide-open possibilities of the jamgrass community. Their intricate improvisation\, energetic peaks\, modern covers\, and old-time country influences create a live experience that is constantly evolving — leaving audiences dancing\, smiling\, and wondering where the music will go next. \n\n\n\nBased in Montana’s Gallatin Valley\, the quintet of Cade Slayden\, Ryan Kelly\, Rabi Phelan\, Silas Rea\, and Matt Hickey is part of a new generation pushing string band music forward without losing sight of its roots. Their recently released sophomore album\, Portland Rose\, showcases that evolution with 12 new studio tracks blending traditional bluegrass\, old-time music\, jamgrass\, heartfelt ballads\, and hard-driving banjo. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoining them is Silas Herman & The Tone Unit\, led by the Colorado-born multi-instrumentalist whose music draws from new acoustic\, folk\, bluegrass\, psychedelic\, and Americana traditions. From intimate acoustic performances to high-energy improvisational sets\, Silas has built a reputation for virtuosic playing and deeply soulful performances. \n\n\n\nHis musical journey has taken him from intimate rooms to Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, sharing stages with legendary acts including Billy Strings\, Sam Bush\, Del McCoury\, The Infamous Stringdusters\, Leftover Salmon\, Yonder Mountain String Band\, Greensky Bluegrass\, Railroad Earth\, Kitchen Dwellers\, The Lil Smokies\, and more. \n\n\n\nFor two nights only\, these artists bring their unique interpretations of string music to The Second Story. \n\n\n\nExpect soaring fiddle\, ripping banjo\, intricate picking\, psychedelic explorations\, old-school roots\, modern energy\, and plenty of room for the music to wander. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t a show you want to catch from the back of a massive venue. This is the kind of night that belongs in a room like this. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS LINK

SUMMARY:Lizzie: a Rock Musical by MissCast Productions at Zootown Arts Community Center
DESCRIPTION:See Lizzie: a Rock Musical by MissCast Productions at 7:30 pm nightly from Wednesday\, October 21 thru Sunday\, October 25 with a matinee at 2:00 pm Saturday\, October 24 in The Show Room at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm Nightly (2:00 pm for Saturday Matinee Performance) \n\n\n\nIn the late summer of 1892\, Andrew Borden and his second wife Abby were found dead in their home – brutally hacked to death by an axe. The main suspect? Andrew’s youngest daughter: Lizzie Borden.  \n\n\n\nTestimonies were muddled\, evidence was incomplete\, and Lizzie was ultimately acquitted…but was she innocent?  \n\n\n\nAnd who else was involved? Her older sister Emma? Bridget the maid? Alice the neighbor? \n\n\n\nThis all-woman musical sets one of America’s most grisly mysteries to a searing rock score and delves into the mind of Lizzie Borden; speculating on what pain\, loss\, or insanity might have pushed her to pick up that axe. \n\n\n\nMissCast Productions will be providing Open Captions for the deaf/hearing impaired/hard of hearing community at every show. \n\n\n\nAudio description\, provided by A Quantum Dream\, will be available for the blind/visually impaired/low vision community at every show

Formed in late 2022\, the band bonded over a mutual love of DIY music and artistic expression\, quickly gaining a local following through their highly energetic live performances. Over the years\, the band has played shows throughout Montana and the Pacific Northwest\, leaving a lasting impression wherever they perform. \n\n\n\nBuilt on an emotional foundation of punk\, Senterline’s sound fuses ripping guitar riffs\, a thundering rhythm section\, and expansive pop hooks – veiled in lines of introspection\, rage\, melancholy\, and catharsis. Since their inception\, Senterline’s goal has always been to connect with audiences on an emotionally visceral level. That sentiment has only grown stronger as they have evolved. \n\n\n\nIn November 2024\, the group released their debut album\, I Spoke to the Sun Today\, a narrative piece exploring the many shades of family and the significance of “home.” This full-length LP helped solidify Senterline’s presence in the regional music scene. With plans for a sophomore release in winter 2026\, the band is excited to continue expanding their sound and pushing the boundaries of their artistic expression. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Spirit HotelSpirit Hotel is the rock’n’roll creation of perpetual bleeding heart\, Nataanii Cornelius. The company she keeps round out the outfit; giving life to her unique and eclectic lofi bitterroot fuzz ballads\, which ranges anywhere from existential grunge to home-on-the-range crooning. \n\n\n\nShe features an array of harmonic stories touching on societal isolations\, destructive romance\, and bitchcraft by way of reservation blues with punk angst.  The sound serves as a triumphant statement for a band singing about\, “wearing death to find your life.” \n\n\n\nShe and her all-star hodgepodge lineup are well established\, playing festivals like Calgary’s Sled Island Festival\, Edmonton’s Purple City Festival\, and shows the Pacific Northwest over with few signs of slowing down.

SUMMARY:Daisy Chain presents Jason Dea West / Way Back West Tour with Riddy Arman + Red McAdam w/Dylan Running Crane at Monk's Bar
DESCRIPTION:Daisy Chain presents Jason Dea West as he takes you on a wild ride back to the roots on “The Way Back West” Tour with local openers Riddy Arman\, Red McAdam\, Dylan Running Crane and Old Time (OT) Hollow at Monk’s Bar in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm Friday\, October 23\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nJason Dea WestJason has been writing\, recording and performing folk music around the country for some decades. In his early years he traveled the country by freight train\, hitchhiking and questionable old vehicles\, cutting his teeth as young buskers on the streets of New Orleans\, Nashville\, Austin\, Chicago and San Fransisco. He has toured extensively with different bands throughout the lower 48 States and Alaska\, appearing in barn dances and taverns\, theaters and music festivals\, the circus and vaudeville circuits and on radio and in film\, forging and delivering their own unique blend of American folk and western music. He is a self-built\, independent artists who has gained the attention of many passionate fans all over the world.Wests’ poignant songwriting breathes new life into vintage sounds of country\, folk and blues. From fierce guitar and harmonica instrumentals to humorous and heartfelt song and story\, Jason never strays far away from his traditional untraditional anarchic punk-folk roots. They have shared the stage with various other artists including Matt Heckler\, The Resonant Rogues and Larry And His Flask. In recent years Jason has worked as direct support for Sierra Ferrel\, Lostdog Street Band & The Bridge City Sinners.+RIDDY ARMANRiddy Arman is a La Honda Records recording artist. Fans have long anticipated her debut release since her popular performance video\, shot by Western AF in a Montana Rail Link boxcar\, where the world was introduced to her distinct\, sultry lope.Against the bucolic and industrial backdrop of the video\, Arman is clearly in her element\, clad with ranch worn clothing. It is obvious she lives a lifestyle many romanticize\, but few truly understand. The chapters of her life so far make for a story much richer than a common western archetype. Unafraid to take new paths\, Arman has traveled across the country — from the farmlands of the Midwest to the bustling streets of New York City\, and now Montana— writing songs\, working as a ranch hand\, and practicing an Agrarian lifestyle.Arman herself has chosen to take a different path\, embracing isolation and interpreting her life through the rural landscape that adorns her lyrics. With fierce honesty and a voice that immediately commands attention\, on her debut record\, Riddy Arman has proven herself as much more than just a cowboy\, singing her lonely songs.+Red McAdam with Dylan Running CraneAlthough he was born in the industrial heart of New Jersey\, Red McAdam’s mother Maggie made damn sure to rear him on country and folk music. She served up a steady diet of celebrated songwriters and singers on their kitchen radio day after day\, from classics like Patsy Cline and Ernest Tubb to burgeoning legends like Lucinda Williams and Brad Paisley. Red’s father Bartholomew\, a lifelong bass player\, took it from there\, teaching him banjo\, mandolin\, bass\, and guitar. \n\n\n\nA self-proclaimed ‘Western fraud\,’ Red makes no effort to fit the country mold\, but rather draws from the unique and largely unsung landscape of his world. Stranger-than-fiction episodes from his time on the road\, preposterous characters with bizarre motives\, and plain old bullshit mingle with vulnerable expressions of a tumultuous life and a threadbare heart. A first responder\, passionate outdoorsman\, recovering alcoholic\, and heartbroken songwriter—Red earned whatever authenticity the country audience craves through his life\, not place of birth.McAdam’s playful outsider country music presents an inventive vision of what the genre can be. His rich\, risky blend of traditional honky-tonk and Western swing draws on indie rock\, R&B\, and beyond\, reflecting a lifelong love of all music and disdain for genres and rules of any kind. A consummate road dog\, he brings his frenetic\, dynamic\, and occasionally delirious performances to dives\, dancehalls\, clubs\, and theaters across the country. Listeners will recognize the Lone Star eccentricities of Terry Allen and Guy Clark\, forlorn folk sensibilities of Elizabeth Cotton and Karen Dalton\, and the driving genre-bending of The Band and Bob Dylan. \n\n\n\nOver the past several years\, he spent time working in National Parks and schools\, bars and the backwoods\, and most recently between emergency departments and ambulances across the country. After a spell hidden away in his high desert Arizona home\, Red hit the road full tilt. In two barnstorming years\, he and his band played 37 states over 13 tours\, logging 90\,000 miles and averaging over 200 shows a year. Red now lives outside of Austin in his 1976 Dodge Jamboree as the newest resident of the storied hill country and absolute greenest in a hallowed lineage of Texas songwriters. \n\n\n\nDYLAN RUNNING CRANE (indie folk and country)+OLD TIME (OT) HOLLOWClawhammer Banjo & Old-Time Music
