DESCRIPTION:Multi-genre award-winning guitarist\, Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra perform at Wachholz College Center in Kalispell at 6:00 pm Sunday\, March 1 \n\n\n\n\n\nOttmar Liebert’s global success can be attributed to a myriad of things – his creative vision\, his determination and a strong sense of melody. Born in Cologne\, Germany\, he began playing guitar at 11. As an adult he pursued his dreams of playing rock music in Boston\, and then settled in Santa Fe\, New Mexico. Santa Fe was a fresh start for Liebert in many ways and in addition to returning to the acoustic guitar\, he remained open to letting the place define the music he made. It was this openness to the local landscape that defined what was to become his musical style\, a mix of Spanish\, Mexican and World elements\, strong melodies tinged with a shade of melancholy\, balanced with upbeat rhythms. Liebert founded the first incarnation of his band\, Luna Negra\, in 1989.Liebert has since become one of the most successful instrumental artists of the past decades\, entertaining audiences around the world and releasing a catalog of 33 classic albums including live recordings\, an orchestral album for Sony Classical\, a binaural surround sound recording\, remix albums\, a lullaby and a flamenco-reggae album.

DESCRIPTION:Mike Killeen performs live on the murphy stage at Missoula’s Draught Works 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Saturday\, March 7\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 1974 Mike Killeen\, vocalist\, guitar\, and harp player at age 14 played his first professional performance at the Helena MT Civic Center ballroom for a teen dance and since then has never stopped pursuing music. After high school\, he toured the NW and Canada playing major clubs and warm-ups for national acts\, Styx & Jefferson Starship to name a few. In 1988 he moved to Seattle\, Washington\, and played clubs\, concerts and recorded in several original projects. In 2005\, Mike moved back to Helena and is now playing with the most talented and energetic players to date. In addition to Mike’s solo shows he’s presently performing with The Justin Case Band and Three Eyed Jack. As a session player\, Mike has recorded guitar & vocals for numerous TV & radio spots and national recording artists such as Jason Deshaw and Johnny Rawls.

Coming this Saturday – for the first time since The ZACC relocated from the Northside – the basement space in the Leaf + Quiet building\, now called The Underground\, is reopening for social gatherings\, art markets\, live music and more! \n\n\n\nWe are excited to kick-off the reopening of this nostalgic space in an historic railroad building located at 235 North 1st Street West with The Jive – a hot club jazz band from Missoula. \n\n\n\nHot Club Jazz\, also known as Gypsy Jazz or jazz manouche\, is a vibrant style of swing jazz originating in 1930’s Paris\, popularized by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli of the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
