Bigger than ever\, playing to fans spanning multiple generations\, and in the midst of their most creative purple patch. A brand new album – titled The Night the Zombies Came – marks the group’s tenth studio record (if you count 1987’s Come On Pilgrim). 13 new songs that will arrive aptly in time for Halloween amongst a 2024 touring schedule taking in circa 70 shows across the globe – and even more to be announced in 2025. \n\n\n\nSpend an hour or two in the company of Charles Thompson IV\, and the conversation will soon fall to zombies\, bog people\, Druidism\, medieval theme restaurants\, shopping malls\, the Masons\, surf rock and the practice of slaughtering lambs in Monmouthshire. Along the way\, he might take in Shirley Collins\, the distinctive dry drum sound of 1970s’ Fleetwood Mac\, and the sestina\, a poetic form attributed to the 12th century Provencal troubadour Arnaut Daniel.  \n\n\n\nOut of such disparate wonders are Pixies’ albums made. “Fragments that are related\,” as Thompson (better known as Black Francis) puts it. “And juxtaposed with other fragments in other songs. And in a collection of songs in a so-called LP\, you end up making a kind of movie.” \n\n\n\nSince their earliest days in late 80s’ Massachusetts\, and on past their 2004 reformation\, Pixies have worked this way — proclaiming their love for both Hüsker Dü and Peter\, Paul and Mary\, relishing both loud and quiet\, singing somewhat kaleidoscopically of reincarnation\, scuba diving\, Luis Buñuel\, necromancy\, Samson and Delilah and the 1986 comedy drama Crimes of the Heart. From the start their music has been imagistic\, contradictory\, electrifying. They stand as one of the most influential\, revered and deeply adored bands of all time. \n\n\n\nThe juxtaposed fragments that make up this year’s The Night the Zombies Came are perhaps the most cinematic of their career — gothic meets sci-fi shlock\, horror flicks\, dark folk tales and Ennio Morricone westerns. \n\n\n\nEarly on\, the band noticed the songs were dividing into two camps: what they came to call the ‘Dust Bowl Songs’ — country-tinged\, ballad-esque numbers such as Primrose and Mercy Me\, and on the other side\, the album’s furious punk numbers such as You’re So Impatient and Chicken. Only Jane (the Night the Zombies Came) keeps its feet in both camps — reminiscent of early 60s Phil Spector\, the band hitting the sweet spot between mushy and abrasive\, it’s a track that Thompson allegedly likened to being chased by a swarm of bees. \n\n\n\nFor this outing\, the band returned to work with producer Tom Dalgety\, who has steered Pixies since 2016’s Head Carrier and on through 2019’s Beneath the Eyrie and 2022’s Doggerel\, and whom Thompson refers to as “a good master of a lot of information” and drummer David Lovering calls “a fifth Pixie now.” \n\n\n\nOver the course of the last three records\, they have established a rhythm with Dalgety: the producer heading to Thompson’s house in Massachusetts a week before recording to familiarise himself with the new songs\, sitting in his front room with a laptop\, while the singer strums out a few ideas. “I really love that process\,” Dalgety says. “From a professional\, productive side of things it’s really nice to get to know the songs and experiment. But also from a geeky fan point of view it’s quite cool being sat on the sofa and seeing ten Pixies songs just suddenly unfold in front of you.” \n\n\n\nFrom there\, the band reconvened once again at Guilford Sound studio in Vermont\, sharing a house together\, rehearsing in the living room\, walking through the autumn woods each day to the studio to record. The hours were not relentless. When the sun went down\, Thompson notes\, they could still go howl at the moon. \n\n\n\nBut they used their time wisely and often experimentally. For several records now\, Thompson has been chasing a different sound for the drums — not the expansive boom of the expensive studio live room with its perfect acoustics and high-end microphones\, but something deader and drier and more akin to the records he loved from the early 1970s.  \n\n\n\nFor a couple of Zombies’ tracks — Chicken and Mercy Me\, Lovering and Dalgety relented. The producer set up a small drum kit in a small room\, deadened the drum skins with cloth and gaffer tape. “And they stuff David in there\,” recalls Thompson. “And you know\, climbing in and out of it is sort of like climbing in and out of a fish aquarium. And it probably gets warm in there. So I’m sure that he suffered for my dry drum sound. I don’t know if there was blood\, but there was definitely a lot of sweat. And maybe some tears.” \n\n\n\nLovering is diplomatic. “Compact would be the word for it\,” he says. “Everything was just nice and muffled the way I like to hear it. And if you listen now\, it is concise\, you hear the drums much more\, they’re not as open and brash or arena style. They’re just right there\, and it makes for a different kind of sound.” \n\n\n\nThere were other changes\, too. A line-up shift has brought in bassist Emma Richardson (Band of Skulls)\, and with it\, a different quality to the band’s sound. Thompson praises the restrained elegance of her voice. Dalgety speaks of her “fantastic creative vibe”. Lovering describes her as “a consummate bass player.”  \n\n\n\nThe recent tour\, of which Richardson was a part\, was particularly joyful for the drummer. “I think the response to these shows and the way that we’ve been playing is because of the rhythm section\,” he says. “Of course I’m up there\, but Emma is up there with me. And when the rhythm section is locked on\, and laying it down with power\, Joe and Charles can screw off as much as they want. She’s just killing it.” \n\n\n\nFor Richardson\, the invitation to join Pixies was a huge and unexpected compliment. She spent weeks exploring the band’s back catalogue ahead of the live shows\, trying to understand their magic.“They have this amazing way of making something that is quite a complicated arrangement sound really effortless and very succinct\,” she says. “But actually when you’re picking it apart as a musician you realise all the tricks that they use. How cleverly they form songs and structures and lyrics.” \n\n\n\nThe new record is particularly special to her. “It’s incredible. It feels slightly different from anything they’ve done before. It’s got this brilliant mixture of a knowing nostalgia and a punk\, energetic\, fun element. But it’s got this dark underbelly\, and an almost romantic longing feel to it. They’ve created these little worlds which are quite cerebral and dreamlike\, but it’s also got these big vistas. It’s quite cinematic.” \n\n\n\nZombies also marks an expanded role for guitarist Joey Santiago. The track I Hear You Mary began as an instrumental he wrote for the previous album\, and having also contributed his first lyrics on Doggerel\, on this record\, Thompson set Santiago the task of writing the words to Hypnotised by completing a sestina — a lyrical riddle of sorts\, formed of six stanzas of six lines\, in which words are rotated in a set pattern. Santiago\, startled by the responsibility\, set about labouring over a complex set of lyrics before coming to a realisation: “The truth of the matter is you’re just putting fucking words together. The lesson is just not to be precious. Just fucking do it.” \n\n\n\nIn recent years\, Santiago has also sought to learn more about guitar playing — aware\, he says\, that it might help conquer his long-running imposter syndrome. “I was afraid\, kinda\, that I was going to lose my identity if I started studying it\, but it made my studio experience a lot easier\,” he says. For months\, he found himself following the Youtube algorithm as it guided him through intensive tutorials. “Every musician will tell you that it’s a never ending thing\,” he says. “It’s pretty remarkable that there are 12 notes and there are still possibilities out there.” \n\n\n\nLovering\, too\, has been deep in pursuit of self-improvement. “I find that the only time I get better or change or learn new things is just by playing and playing and playing\,” he says. “It’s taken me 50 years to learn how to play the drums\, and I mean that honestly. In the last year I’ve learned the way to play off my right hand — I never did that in the past\, I was lazy as hell! And everything is like a clock now. So I’m excited not only with what we did with the record\, but for upcoming stuff. We’re going to sound good!” \n\n\n\nBack in the company of Thompson\, the conversation has moved on to headless chickens\, gargoyles\, the lingering presence of the undead. “When we’re putting together a record\,” he says\, “we’re not trying to make it fit around a particular theme\, but there may be a couple of catchphrases or words or concepts that are kicked around. On this particular record\, I would say it would be ‘zombies’. Though it’s not in every song\, and it’s not necessarily presented in a literal way.” \n\n\n\nOn every album they’ve ever made\, Pixies have taken the record’s title from the lyrics — a song title\, or a line. For a time\, Thompson says\, he struggled to find a title for this new collection of songs. “The only phrase that seemed to sound good to me is this one. Everything else seemed too goofy. You would think The Night the Zombies Came would be the most goofy-sounding\, but to my ear\, and to Tom’s also and to the rest of the band\, it felt like ‘Oh\, yeah\, The Night the Zombies Came. That’s it. Of course.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SpoonSpoon\, Austin’s most esteemed rock ambassadors\, have released ten albums to date including a string of five straight top 10 records: Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007)\, Transference (2010)\, They Want My Soul (2014)\, Hot Thoughts (2017)\, and Lucifer on the Sofa (2022). \n\n\n\nLucifer on the Sofa earned the band its first-ever GRAMMY nomination (Best Rock Album) and was praised by Rolling Stone as “The best thing they’ve ever done.” \n\n\n\nHailed by TIME as “one of the greatest American rock bands”\, Spoon topped Metacritic’s chart as the single most critically acclaimed band of the aughts. \n\n\n\nIn 2019\, Spoon released Everything Hits At Once: The Best of Spoon\, which was praised by NPR as a “convincing argument for Spoon being one of their era’s most distinctive and excellent rock bands.” That same year\, Fender released the Britt Daniel Signature Telecaster Thinline as part of their artist signature electric guitar series – highlighting the enduring influence of Daniel’s precision-punk style that has helped fuel Spoon to become what the Guardian calls ‘one of the finest bands of their generation.’ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout FazerdazeIn a society where being strong and resilient is often held up like a badge of honour\, it’s much\, much harder to acknowledge when enough is enough – to accept when it’s time to let go. It’s a truth that New Zealand singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Amelia Murray has spent years wrangling with\, but one whose story thankfully comes with an empowering punchline of personal reclamation in the form of ‘Break!’: her returning EP as Fazerdaze. \n\n\n\n“You can get so caught up in these false constructs of niceness and loyalty – these rigid societal constructs of what being a ‘good’ person’ is – but the best thing I did for myself was break free of that paradigm and ruthlessly start putting myself first\,” she begins. “This EP is a punctuation mark of that\, of being disruptive and severing from the false parts of myself.”

Gazca was always drawn to music\, listening to a mix of the in-your-face classic rock of AC/DC\, the pulsating nu-metal of Slipknot\, and the vivacious southern parking lot pimping music of Slim Thug\, Lil Keke\, Sauce Walka\, and the rappers who ushered in the mid-00s Southern rap takeover. He always gravitated towards music\, but after losing his mother early in life\, and dealing with his dad being in and out of jail\, Gazca faced a crossroads in seventh grade as he pondered how to change his circumstances. “Being a rapper is damn near impossible\,” Gazca says. “With the luck that I got\, I know I’m not making. What am I going to do in life? I couldn’t see myself doing anything else\, so it just had to happen.” With that realization\, Gazca got to work\, spending as much time in his uncle’s makeshift studio as possible and entering into rap battles around the city. But issues with self-esteem pushed him off the path in a bad way. Scared of repeating the mistakes of his other family members\, Gazca re-dedicated himself to his craft around junior year of high school\, continuing to hone his rapping with his uncle and his cousins. After locking in and releasing his first project\, Southern Texas Project\, in 2020\, Gazca got the attention of Greg Gates\, who offered to manage him. Gates changed Gazca’s life\, pushing him to learn to make songs\, rather than focus purely on rapping. “La Muerte” was the lightbulb moment for Gazca\, a rapid tempo\, Mexican guitar-influenced banger that acted as a template to the charismatic trunk rattlers Gazca would go on to make. From there\, Gazca stayed in the studio\, dropping projects and songs at a furious pace such as 2021’s 1 Double O and 2022’s Nonsense and Mexican Shit. But 2023 would be the year everything fell into place\, starting with his breakout track “Johnny Dang\,” which saw the Tejano rapper link up with Texas staple Drodi and the “Sittin Sidewayz” legend Paul Wall for a melding of Texas’ storied past and bright future. The track served as a perfect primer to his album\, Lonestar Luchador\, which meshed his love of wrestling\, comedy and hard-hitting bars into a raucous album that showcases his limitless ambition and knack for worldbuilding. In 2024\, he continued that momentum\, being named to the newest XXL Freshman class and finding success with his follow up project\, Texas Technician. The new project forgoes the conceptual approach of Lonestar Luchador in favor of paying homage to the state and sound that made him. Linking with fellow Texas titans such as Z-Ro\, Paul Wall\, Slim Thug and Le$\, while also finding contemporaries to match his energy such as DaBaby\, Fredo Bang and MoneyBagg Yo\, Texas Technician is a coming-of-age story best heard on the biggest subwoofers in the parking lot. “I like when people hand out CDs in the back of the slab\,” Gazca says. “You see that trunk and it’s glowing with the lights and the speakers\, and bumping their music. That’s the feeling I wanted to bring to this tape\, it just falls back to me loving the hustle and the grind of being a Texas Technician.” Tracks such as the eerie\, Screw-influenced flex fest with MoneyBagg Yo “Twisting Fingers\,” show off That Mexican OT’s natural ability to bring his features into his world\, sounding like a late night\, dirt road rager in Texas. While more introspective tracks such as the heartfelt “Muchos Gracias” reveals his somber side\, remembering everyone who helped him get to this point. Texas Technician shows all sides of Virgil Rene Gazca\, the man inside\, and the outlaw\, slick-tongued persona of That Mexican OT. With his Texas Technician tour in full swing\, new singles like the Denzel Curry vivacious team up “Black Flag Freestyle\,” and a new project he says has some of his most eclectic music to date\, That Mexican OT has all the support and momentum to ascend to Southern rap royalty\, and position himself as a new leader for Texas rap\, and beyond. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout DrodiDRODi is a dynamic figure in the independent hip-hop scene\, with a growing portfolio of music and a strong digital presence. SUMMARY:Melissa Bangs presents The Bangingsons: A Love Ballard at the ZACC
DESCRIPTION:Melissa Bangs presents The Bangingsons: A Love Ballard at the ZACC in Missoula Thursday at 7:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMelissa Bangs presents The Bangingsons: A Love Ballard at the ZACC in Missoula Thursday at 7:30 pm. \n\n\n\nWhen cancer came for them\, both of them\, discovered within the same 24 hour period… hers having returned in a lymph node\, his having appeared in his throat and neck… there were shared tears\, a long embrace\, quiet whispers as to not wake their daughter\, a long sigh and then together\, with soft eyes and without cue\, “Twin flame shit baby. Twin flame shit.” \n\n\n\nAnd when\, in the depths of their tandem treatment\, treatment that nearly killed him\, a family crisis had them carrying loaded handguns for the first time in their lives and hiding in hotels for weeks on end\, what did they do? What did they discover? Was it the stuff of great philosophers or killer comedians? Were they eviscerated? Emboldened? Expanded? Come find out! \n\n\n\nFlirting and arguing along the way\, Wifey Bangingson shares stories dripping in love and laughter whilst Hubby Bangingson delivers the soundtrack\, dropping the melodies and beats that belong to these moments. Collectively\, they invite you into their living room\, to time travel together to scenes from their life. This project is a playful experiment of story\, banter and improv marinated in trauma-bonding and music. One part philosophy and deep spiritual discovery. Another part comedy and cliffnotes for survival. \n\n\n\nThe Bangingsons invite you along as they ride the massive whitewater rapids of life\, falling in and out of love with themselves and each other. Realizing along the way that if you can let go\, keep your feet downstream\, work as a team and breathe when you can… as the water and waves get deeper and more death-defying\, so does the love\, the sense of connection to self and one another\, and the deep peace within the never-ending flow of the river of life. \n\n\n\nNote: This performance/experience has mature themes and language and is recommended for viewers 18 and older.

They met four years prior as freshman at St. Mary’s University in Winona\, MN. After being in a campus rock band for the first few years of college\, the guys created Koo Koo as an experimental project for SMU’s annual battle of the bands. The idea centered around crowd participation\, comedy and dance music\, stretching the concept of a what a “band” could be. \n\n\n\nThe next few years saw Bryan and Neil touring throughout the Midwest playing bars\, basements and barbecues. Meanwhile they released their first few albums and music videos. In 2010 the band was chosen to support Orange County superhero rock band The Aquabats on their east coast tour. This turned into more support slots with Reel Big Fish and Yo Gabba Gabba Live. Meanwhile Koo Koo began creating “dance-a-long” videos for their songs to help demonstrate the moves that audiences would need to know at their shows. These videos were unexpectedly a hit with elementary school teachers\, which led Koo Koo into the world of children’s music and becoming a “real” kids’ band. \n\n\n\nMore domestic and international touring followed as the guys hit the road with The Vans Warped Tour\, Frank Turner & Sleeping Souls\, and MC Lars. Concept albums about cats\, potty humor\, self-help\, holidays and Panera Bread added to the band’s discography. Simultaneously\, the popularity of their “brain break” dance-a-long videos continued to skyrocket in classrooms around the world. \n\n\n\nIn 2021 Bryan and Neil released their first non-concept album since 2013\, partnering with Twin Cities producer extraordinaire Lazerbeak. “Slow Clap” presents a more hiphop-centric sound with plenty of grooving bass lines and monstrous drums\, while retaining the catchy\, weirdo-energy fans expect from the band. \n\n\n\nThey stepped into a new realm with their TV series “Oh Yeah Heck Yeah.” This fastpaced variety clip show features music videos\, sketches\, animation and interactive games in their irreverent\, high-energy style. The first season consists of five tenminute episodes with each premiering a brand new Koo Koo song and video. You can watch their self-produced show on the Koo Koo YouTube channel. \n\n\n\nMore shows\, videos\, podcast episodes and antics are yet to come! We hope you’ll join in on the fun as we write the next chapter of Koo Koo.

SUMMARY:The Robert Cray Band at The Wilma

This is a fully-seated event with general admission seated floor and reserved balcony seating tickets available. All ages are welcome. \n\n\n\nTake a look at these tips to best prepare yourself for a smooth ticket buying experience. \n\n\n\nAdditional ticketing and venue information can be found here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Robert CrayBlues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Robert Cray is all these things – and more. The Georgia born\, Washington-raised musician first picked up a guitar after seeing The Beatles on TV then\, having witnessed Jimi Hendrix perform in Seattle\, determined that his destiny would also follow a similar path. And so he has: across the past half century Robert Cray’s developed into one of American music’s most singular artists. \n\n\n\n“I guess you’d have to say that we were lucky\,” reflects Cray on his life in music\, “because\, growing up in the 1960s\, the different music played on the radio really opened us up. I mean\, we even had Albert Collins play our high School graduation party.” \n\n\n\nFrom forming a teenage garage band\, through to striding the stage alongside several of the world’s greatest guitarists\, Robert Cray’s story is one of struggle and commitment. Struggle and commitment that led to Cray enjoying phenomenal success – selling millions of albums and countless concert tickets\, winning five Grammy Awards\, being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame\, recipient of the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award\, designing two signature model Fender guitars – yet for Robert what’s always mattered most is the music. Every note he plays counts\, every song he sings is delivered as if it is his last: integrity and intensity are what has guided Cray’s musical career. He has never cheapened his output or delivered a substandard performance. Indeed\, his commitment to making music of the highest standard has won Cray both a loyal audience and the respect of many of popular music’s most legendary figures. \n\n\n\nThink about it: Robert Cray has shared stage and/or studio with the likes of John Lee Hooker\, Muddy Waters\, B.B. King\, Buddy Guy\, Chuck Berry\, Albert Collins\, The Rolling Stones\, Eric Clapton\, Tina Turner\, Stevie Ray Vaughan\, the Memphis Horns and Hi Rhythm Section. Cray’s stinging guitar playing and soulful voice\, his skills as a band leader and performer\, mark him as keeper of the flame for American roots music\, an artist who never fails to deliver. \n\n\n\n“We were so lucky just be able to see them\,” says Cray of trading guitar licks on stage with legends of blues\, rock and soul\, “let alone share the stage with them – what an experience!” \n\n\n\nCray’s rise to the top was\, like his music\, a slow burn\, he first building a following in small towns across the Pacific Northwest. Even before Cray had a record deal he enjoyed local hero status – so much so in 1978 he was cast (as a musician) in Animal House\, the blockbuster comedy that made John Belushi famous. 1978 was also the year Cray recorded his debut album\, Who’s Been Talkin’\, although Tomato Records’ internal problems held up Talkin’s release until 1980. And then\, just as Talkin’ was winning great reviews\, Tomato collapsed into bankruptcy. Got the blues? Young Robert certainly could have claimed he had them. But Cray isn’t given to complaining\, instead he persevered\, committed then\, as he is now\, to taking his music to the people. \n\n\n\nAfter Tomato became music biz ketchup\, Cray and his band – today consisting of Richard Cousins (bass guitar – there since high school days)\, Dover Weinberg (keyboards) and Les Falconer (drums) – used the momentum the album gave them to play further afield. By now Cray was buddies with a young guitarist from Texas: Stevie Ray Vaughan. \n\n\n\n“We played in 1979 at the San Francisco Blues Festival\,” recalls Cray\, “and I watched Stevie’s show and he’s just smoking. Afterwards Richard and I went up and chatted with him and we just hit it off. Stevie was great – if we were in Austin he’d always come and join us on stage.” \n\n\n\nSigning to Hightone\, Cray’s 1983 album Bad Influence established him internationally: he was invited to play Carnegie Hall\, toured Europe\, later finding Eric Clapton recording Bad Influence’s title track. 1985 saw Cray’s False Accusations album increase his standing as the foremost singer of blues noir songs\, while that year’s Showdown! – a sizzling collaboration with guitarists’ Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland – won Robert huge acclaim from blues musicians and fans: the new guy’s the real deal! Signing to Mercury Records\, Cray’s 1986 album Strong Persuader ensured he became the first blues/soul musician to breakthrough in the MTV era. \n\n\n\nStrong Persuader won Cray rave reviews from pop and rock critics\, topped charts worldwide\, saw Cray grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and winning the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Recording in 1988. Strong Persuader\, with its songs of infidelity\, guilt and unease\, while not in any sense conventional Top 40 music\, proved so strong an album it broke through barriers\, sold millions of copies and would prove extremely influential. Cray’s breakthrough allowed both young and older blues and soul musicians to gain wide attention and radio play: John Lee Hooker’s career resurrection came soon after with The Healer\, and Robert plays on that seminal album. \n\n\n\n“It was great to be able to travel around the world\,” says Cray of Strong Persuader’s success. “It afforded us a lot of great opportunities that we were lucky to experience.” \n\n\n\nCray’s being modest here: suddenly he found himself the hottest guitarist working – Tina Turner invited Robert to support her huge European tour (every night\, after playing with his band\, Cray would join Tina on stage to play A Change Is Gonna Come)\, then Keith Richards called\, requesting Cray join the band backing Chuck Berry for Taylor Hackford’s celebratory feature length documentary Hail Hail Rock ‘N’ Roll. Here Cray not only got to play with the mercurial Berry (+Linda Ronstadt and Etta James\, amongst many notable artists)\, he also formed a friendship with Steve Jordan\, then drummer for the project and Richards’ solo band. \n\n\n\nNow internationally famous\, Cray found himself in intense demand: he toured with the Stones and Eric Clapton\, played with B.B King and Buddy Guy (both of whom were inspirations)\, headlined noted music festivals – these included Glastonbury in the UK and Crossroads Guitar Festival in the US – and kept developing his sound over a selection of strong albums across the 1990s. Cray’s songwriting has addressed ageing\, love\, loneliness\, domestic turmoil and US politics\, while his music’s expansive vision found the likes of Cajun accordion legend Jo-El Sonnier and Memphis Horns’ trumpet and saxophone masters Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love guesting on his albums. \n\n\n\nAs an artist Robert Cray’s aged like fine wine – his voice has developed a greater range and expressiveness\, this he’s put to use on masterful interpretations of such Southern soul standards as I Forgot To Be Your Lover (William Bell)\, Your Good Thing Is About To End (Mable John) and Nobody’s Fault But Mine (Otis Redding). At the same time\, Cray’s guitar playing now possesses an additional depth\, a growl that can hint at a caress then signal emotional upheaval. \n\n\n\nHis recent run of albums – 2014’s In My Soul\, 2017’s Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm and 2020’s masterful That’s What I Heard (all produced by Steve Jordan: now the Stones’ drummer) – are amongst the very finest he’s made. Every song here is deeply felt\, whether an agonised song of loss\, an angry protest number\, or a dance tune that gets audiences pumping (My Baby Likes To Boogaloo is great funky fun). \n\n\n\nAcross five decades Robert Cray has created a richly inclusive American music\, revitalizing both blues and soul while rocking hard with the very best. To achieve 50 years in the music industry and still be as fresh and committed as when starting out is an achievement few can boast of but Cray can: he has released 19 studio albums\, every one replete with his extremely distinctive songs\, won five Grammy Awards and continues to make music that sounds like no one but Robert Cray. “All these years we have been fortunate to do what we love doing\, playing the music we love playing\,” says Cray with a smile. “I couldn’t ask for anything more.” “Thank you for listening.”
