SUMMARY:Wes Urbaniak and The Mountain Folk with The Lucky Valentines and Robert Taylor Smith at Monk's Bar
DESCRIPTION:Wes Urbaniak and The Mountain Folk play a night of roots / folk / bluegrass music with The Lucky Valentines and Robert Taylor Smith at Monk’s Bar in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm Thursday\, October 1\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nWes Urbaniak and The Mountain Folk \n\n\n\nWes Urbaniak and The Mountain Folk is a genre bending band\, but the roots always pull up like folk music. The live music world and the people in it have become as wild as the weather. WuMF has undergone significant changes while trying to embrace this new wild\, but continues to progress through the simplicity of strings\, harmonies\, and foundational lyrics. There are so many special things about this band and its music\, its artistic – through reclamation – endeavors\, and its call to persist through the hard things is exceptional. For instance\, even the instruments represent the story of the music. Each instrument contains original reclaimed Red Rocks Amphitheater bench redwood – *Wes is the Luthier behind the magical matter. You should watch the band try to explain it in its most simplest way. By listening to the music and thumbing through the story you’ll discover one of the most beautiful efforts whispered into song in these times while finding what’s good and holding care for the world we live in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n+The Lucky Valentines \n\n\n\nThese two have been making music together for 14 years\, with three studio albums in their pocket. The most recent album\, “Losses” is full of sorrow and hope\, growth and magic. Produced by Josh Kaufman (The National\, Taylor Swift\, Bonny Light Horseman\, Josh Ritter)\, it seeps authenticity and emotion – ranging from the loss of family\, parents\, and lifestyle\, to the soaring joy of being Loved. \n\n\n\nThey’ve written upwards of eighty songs\, and use a mix of folk melodic sensibilities\, tight harmonies\, and a whole lotta love to make sad things beautiful. Their sound could be bottled up as “Bruce Springsteen and Patty Griffin meet Shovels and Rope in a Gypsy Junkshop”. He sometimes uses a thirdhand suitcase as a kick drum\, and the rotary phone from her father’s shop as a mic. She blends classical violin with raging folk passion. He channels John Prine and Hank Williams. They have played hundreds of live shows together and have been featured on MTPR’s Musician Spotlight\, at Austin’s Iconic Hole in the Wall Cafe\, the side stage of Red Ants Pants Music Festival\, and were featured in the 2022 season of MTPBS’s award winning 11th and Grant with Eric Funk. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n+Robert Taylor Smith \n\n\n\nHailing from Fayetteville\, Arkansas\, nestled amid the serene foothills of the Ozark Mountains\, Robert has spent the past decade touring extensively alongside his childhood friend Garrett August\, co-founding the rock band Vintage Pistol. Their coast-to-coast journeys forged Robert’s musical prowess and shaped his understanding of the craft. \n\n\n\nFrom these diverse influences\, Robert Taylor Smith emerges — a raw\, introspective singer-songwriter\, ready to unveil a deeply personal narrative\, his music has transformed into a heartfelt storytelling style that delivers woeful candor. \n\n\n\n“I’ve grown to the point of not being worried about being honest\, which is refreshing\,” Robert reveals. This newfound freedom weaves into his music\, capturing the hues of sobriety\, the echoes of heartache\, and the weight of loss with unfiltered sincerity. \n\n\n\nThis pivotal transition — from the vibrant energy of Vintage Pistol to the poignant vulnerability of a solo artist-marks a significant chapter in Taylor’s musical odyssey. His music now serves as a sanctuary\, inviting listeners to join in an intimate exploration of shared emotions and the human spirit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS LINK

Composed of songwriter Adrianne Lenker\, guitarist Buck Meek\, and drummer James Krivchenia\, their creative output is seemingly limitless\, sprawling across five critically-acclaimed albums. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout PorchesShirt\, the new album from Aaron Maine aka Porches\, is part angsty fantasy\, part confessional melodrama – a rock album that oscillates between reality and make-believe to reflect both the innocence of suburban youth and the frayed reality of adulthood. A fusion of chaotic impulses\, insatiable desires\, and a perpetual yearning\, Shirt plays with the tension between one’s person and persona – the weight of your dreams crashing up against your reality. \n\n\n\nShirt is instantly recognizable as Porches’ heaviest album to date. Grungy guitars that shine with a menacing glint\, drums and bass that punch you warmly in the stomach\, interspersed with moments of eerie calmness to create a physical sense of tension and release that resonates with each track. From moments of punk-fueled aggression to introspective country-twanged respites\, the album combines an array of influences to create the sensation of a mood on the brink of swinging. \n\n\n\nPorches’ music is equally personal and universal\, tapping into moments in life that are intimate\, absurd\, banal and strangely everyday. His output takes a lifetime of songwriting and cuts it down to its most fundamental parts\, taking the listener on a dreamy\, primal journey through the mind of a man coping with an incomprehensible time\, reveling in the joy and confusion of living through it all.

DESCRIPTION:American folk duo Shovels & Rope performs live at Kalispell’s Wachholz College Center with Nolan Taylor at 7:30 pm Wednesday\, October 7\n\n\n\n\n\nWCC welcomes SHOVELS & ROPE to the Flathead Valley for a live performance at 7:30 pm Wednesday\, October 7.  \n\n\n\nShovels & Rope is an American folk + americana duo made up of married musicians Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. \n\n\n\nBased out of Charleston\, they’re known for their raw\, energetic sound that blends folk\, country\, rock\, and a bit of blues. \n\n\n\nTheir seventh album Something Is Working Up Above My Head was released in September of 2024. \n\n\n\nSee below for details about Something Is Working Up Above My Head. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOPENING:  NOLAN TAYLOR \n\n\n\nWhen Nolan Taylor grabs a guitar and steps up to a microphone\, he speaks for the desperate\, the deserted\, and the downtrodden who deserve a voice and demand a chance to be heard. The Ohio-raised and Nashville-based singer\,songwriter\, and guitarist knows the hopelessness of an impoverished upbringing surrounded by addiction firsthand. However\, he also knows what the light at the end of the tunnel feels like – because he dug himself out of despair and found that light. Growing up in Blanchester\, OH\, he initially lived in a small home. His mother fell prey to drugs and mental health turbulence\, leaving Nolan and his brother to be raised by dad – who worked several jobs to make ends meet. He bounced around from place-to-place until life settled down during sophomore year of high school. Music offered a semblance of stability. Upon graduating high school\, Nolan tirelessly gigged anywhere he could. A live video of “68” (which directly addresses the relationship with his mom and the topic of addiction) went viral and caught the attention of Atlantic Records. He gained traction with the Life & Love EP and Live From The Living Room EP. Beyond sharing bills with everyone from The Revivalists and City and Colour to 49 Winchester\, Charley Crockett\, and Band of Horses he sold out his headline Cincinnati Heart Tour. He contributed “Driving You Home” to Twisters: The Album\, the companion soundtrack to the blockbuster film which went on to be nominated for a GRAMMY®. Nolan invited audiences into the heart of where he grew up (and the Heartland of the country) on his 2025 self-titled full-length debut\, Nolan Taylor [Atlantic Records]\, and looks to expand his catalog with a new EP slated for release in 2026.

After breaking through with his debut EP Quitter\, Whitcomb built a massive following through deeply personal songwriting\, gritty vocals\, and emotionally charged live performances. In just the past year\, he’s amassed hundreds of millions of streams\, landed on major Artist to Watch lists\, and headlined fast-selling tours across North America and Europe. \n\n\n\nFans can expect a powerful live show featuring standout tracks like “Quitter\,” “Medusa\,” and “Hundred Mile High\,” alongside newer material from his chart-topping debut album The Hard Way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Cameron WhitcombIn a world that often prizes surface-level honesty\, Cameron Whitcomb is the rare artist with the courage to uncover his most uncomfortable truths. After leaving home at age 17 and getting a job on a pipeline\, the British Columbia native discovered his passion for singing and devoted himself to making music\, soon breaking through with his 2024 debut EP Quitter—a fearlessly candid collection of country/folk songs inspired by his journey in overcoming addiction. In a testament to the pure force of his storytelling\, the 22-year-old singer/songwriter has ascended to tremendous heights in the past year alone\, including headlining multiple tours across North America and Europe\, amassing over 600 million global catalog streams\, and landing on 2025 Artist to Watch lists from Spotify and Amazon Music—all before releasing a full-length project. On his debut album The Hard Way\, Whitcomb now shares his most powerful work yet: a selection of songs that willfully stare down his demons\, instilling every moment with equal parts grit and sensitivity and explosively poetic detail. The Hard Way debuted at #1 on the Canadian Country Albums chart\, establishing Whitcomb’s position as one of the leading voices in country music today. Upon release\, the album quickly surpassed 100 million on-demand streams nationwide\, achieving Certified Gold status in Canada. \n\n\n\nMade in close collaboration with producer Jack Riley (Knox\, Grace VanderWaal)\, The Hard Way includes Whitcomb’s chart-climbing singles “Medusa” and “Quitter” (nominated for Single Of The Year at the 2025 Canadian Country Music Awards where he won Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Fan’s Choice)\, both of which continue to rack up over a million streams weekly in the U.S. and two million streams weekly across the globe. Also featuring standouts like “Hundred Mile High” (a No. 33 hit on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart)\, the 15-track album ricochets from stripped-back folk to rough-edged country to punk-leaning pop as Whitcomb offers a real-time glimpse into his inner world. While gearing up for The Hard Way’s arrival\, Whitcomb recently embarked on his I’ve Got Options Tour – a fast-selling North American headline run including a two-night stand at the historic Troubadour in Los Angeles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNep is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter from Texas. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Liam St. JohnHis music blends Americana\, rock & roll\, and blues influences. St. John first gained recognition for his 2022 viral hit “Dipped in Bleach”\, an autobiographical song about his past cocaine addiction. He has since released two chart-topping albums\, stripped back (2022) and All the Bad Things (2023)\, both recorded in single takes and featuring St. John on vocals and guitar.

SUMMARY:Andrea Harsell live at The Pearl Theater
DESCRIPTION:Andrea Harsell plays live with her new band\, with original songs rooted in folk\, blues\, bluegrass and country\, with tight three-part harmonies exceptional musicianship and a warm\, dynamic sound at The Pearl Theater in Ronan at 7:00 pm Wednesday\, October 21\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is THE coolest theater around. Built in 1917 and resurrected by the fine folks at the Western Montana Musicians Co-op\, this is our last show of the season. Expect tight harmonies and original songs rooted in the American music traditions of folk\, blues\, bluegrass\, and country. \n\n\n\nA year ago\, I was farming and unsure what was next for me as so much of what I knew to be true had disintegrated in my hands. Since then\, I’ve been writing a truckload of new songs about love\, loss\, home\, heartbreak\, starting over\, bad decisions\, and finding your way back to yourself. Now I have an incredible band\, a whole new batch of tunes\, and the future is looking bright as I find myself back on the path I started walking as a young girl. \n\n\n\nLife has its twists and turns\, and it doesn’t always look the way we planned. I’m so grateful that music always pulls me back to it\, and this time\, it’s for keeps. \n\n\n\nI hope to see you in the room.– Andrea Harsell
