His songs like the No. 1 PLATINUM hit “There Was This Girl\,” the 3X-PLATINUM-certified heart-tugger “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” (which he performed live at the 55th ACM Awards)\, and his chart-topping collab with Thomas Rhett\, “Half of Me\,” have made Riley synonymous with what Country music does best: making listeners feel something with his no-gimmick\, relatable writing and classic feel. \n\n\n\nAn avid sports fan\, former athlete (Jacksonville State University quarterback) and outdoorsman\, Riley is riding a wave of success after being named the Academy of Country Music’s 2020 New Male Artist of the Year\, a former MusicRow Breakout Artist of the Year\, a CMT “Listen Up Artist\,” and one of CRS’s 2020 New Faces. In 2023 Green served as direct support for Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs\, playing to an average of 65\,000 fans each night. Recently Green has wrapped his own headlining Ain’t My Last Rodeo tour\, bringing out Tracy Lawrence and Ella Langley with him. Combs joined Riley on his third No. 1 single “Different ‘Round Here (Ft. Luke Combs)\,” the title track to Riley’s 2019 debut album that he re-recorded with Combs after seeing how fans connected to it. \n\n\n\nHis forthcoming third studio album\, produced by Dann Huff\, will arrive on his birthday\, October 18 with more of the signature Riley Green fans have come to know and love from the good ol’ boy who still lives in his hometown of Jacksonville\, AL. Currently on an incredible hot streak\, Green’s well-earned confidence in his work shines through across the 18-track set with five of the tracks being solely written including standouts “Jesus Saves\,” “Worst Way” and the title track—which finds Green reuniting with his “you look like you love me” duet partner and recent tourmate Ella Langley. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Mike RyanMike Ryan is a San Antonio\, TX born singer/songwriter who has accumulated fans across the US and throughout the world with powerful\, whiskey smooth vocals and well-crafted lyrics. His thoughtful writing style evokes emotion and plants the audience inside his songs. Mike’s brand of country music\, infused with southern rock and soulful rhythms\, has generated over 105 million streams to date. Skillful with a writer’s pen\, and pure entertainment with a guitar\, Mike has secured a notable reputation among country music fans. \n\n\n\nHe has seen exceptional success on the Texas radio charts with five #1 songs to his credit thus far. His first #1 single\, “Dancing All Around It”\, was voted the 2014 Single of the Year by Texas Music Pickers. Additionally\, Mike has received national radio airplay from three different singles on Sirius/XM radio. In 2017\, Brad Paisley cut a song titled “Last Time for Everything” co-written by Ryan. Later\, Paisley laid down the lead guitar tracks on Mike’s eventual #1 song “The ReWrite”. Mike made his national TV debut in 2018 when he was invited to play the White House 4th of July celebration in Washington D.C. That same year\, Mike was named one of Pandora’s “Artists to Watch”. With a steady tour schedule and a rapidly growing fan base\, Mike Ryan is in high demand headlining venues across the country. Catch him now!

SUMMARY:Roads of Ruin with Bloodless: Final Stop ft. Plague of Aces and Dank Crypt at the ZACC
DESCRIPTION:Roads of Ruin with Bloodless: Final Stop ft. Plague of Aces and Dank Crypt at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm Sunday\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoads of Ruin with Bloodless: Final Stop ft. Plague of Aces and Dank Crypt at the ZACC in Missoula Sunday at 7:00 pm.ROADS OF RUIN TOUR – MISSOULA STOPPresented by Future Artist Management \n\n\n\nThe final stop of the Roads of Ruin tour hits Missoula on Saturday\, August 24 at the ZACC. Three bands. One night. Let’s tear the roof off and close this run the way it was meant to end — loud\, heavy\, and unforgettable. \n\n\n\n BLOODLESS (Billings – heavy metal / thrash / doom)A heavy metal force born in 2023\, Bloodless blends the razor-edged intensity of thrash\, the crushing weight of doom\, and the relentless pulse of groove. Their sound is forged in contrast—fast and punishing one moment\, slow and suffocating the next—crafted for those who find meaning in the heaviness. \n\n\n\nDrawing from the chaos of early thrash and the bleakness of doom\, their riffs strike like hammers and their presence leaves no stage untouched. With lyrics that echo a world fraying at the edges\, Bloodless doesn’t just play metal—they summon it. \n\n\n\n DANK CRYPT (Havre – sludge / punk / thrash)Spawning from the harsh depths of Havre\, MT\, Dank Crypt delivers a riff-drenched mix of sludge\, punk\, thrash\, and doom. Formed in 2022 by Drew Torgerson and longtime collaborators Trever and Travis Berger\, their raw\, genre-bending sound made early waves with their track “Snow Owl Eats at Daytime”\, featured on Weedian’s “Trip to Montana”. \n\n\n\nTheir debut EP Crypt Scripture dropped on April 20\, 2024 — and it hits hard. Heavy\, chaotic\, and never afraid to slow things down and make you feel it. \n\n\n\n PLAGUE OF ACES (Great Falls – punk / rock)Gritty\, relentless\, and rooted in the DIY ethos\, Plague of Aces formed in 2023 and has been making noise across Montana ever since. Their blend of punk energy and rock-driven songwriting delivers high-octane originals that stick with you — fast\, loud\, and honest. \n\n\n\nAfter pushing through early tour setbacks\, they’re back and hungrier than ever. Their debut EP is out now\, with more music on the way — and every set is a chance to bring it harder than the last.

But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. This band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that The Beach Boys’ songs have forever changed the musical landscape\, profoundly influencing countless performing artists to follow. \n\n\n\nAt the helm of The Beach Boys is lead Singer & Critically acclaimed lyricist\,  Mike Love\, a founding member whose leadership has steered the band through decades of musical evolution. Grammy-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston joined The Beach Boys in 1965\, replacing Glenn Campbell\, who filled-in for Brian Wilson\, on vocals/bass\, when he retired from touring. Highly regarded in his field\, Johnston brought with him a wealth of experience from working with icons like Elton John and Pink Floyd\, The Byrds\, cementing his place among rock’s elite. \n\n\n\nThe current lineup\, including musical director Brian Eichenberger\, Christian Love\, Tim Bonhomme\, Jon Bolton\, Keith Hubacher\, Randy Leago\, and John Wedemeyer\, continues to honor and expand upon the band’s iconic Live performance legacy. This dedication is evident in their rigorous touring schedule\, with the band performing an average of 150 shows a year across a variety of venues worldwide. \n\n\n\nIn 2012\, The Beach Boys marked their 50th anniversary with a reunion tour and the release of “That’s Why God Made the Radio\,” which debuted at #3 on the Billboard charts\, their highest chart position in 37 years. This resurgence of interest highlighted the band’s continued relevance and their ability to resonate with both long-time fans and new listeners alike. \n\n\n\nTheir discography includes milestones like the triple platinum-certified Sounds of Summer and “The Warmth of the Sun\, which have contributed to a renewed interest in their music. Despite having numerous opportunities to retire at the height of their success\, such as after the release of the groundbreaking Pet Sounds masterpiece in 1966\, or after Mike Love’s concept album Endless Summer ignited a second generation of Beach Boys fans and stirred a tempest that rocked the music world\, or after recording Love’s co-written Golden Globe nominated “Kokomo” in 1988 and seeing it become its best-selling single ever\, or after being inducted that same year into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame\, The Beach Boys have chosen to continue touring and sharing music with the world\, a testament to their commitment to their art and fans. \n\n\n\nThe Beach Boys celebrated the 50th anniversary of the hit “Good Vibrations” – which is widely considered one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of rock and roll – in 2016 with a 50 Years of Good Vibrations tour\, underscoring the song’s status as a rock and roll masterpiece. Mike Love’s memoir\, GOOD VIBRATIONS: My Life as a Beach Boy\, further cemented their place in music history by becoming a New York Times Best Seller. \n\n\n\nRecent years have seen the release of comprehensive box sets like Feel Flows – The Sunflower and Surf’s Up Sessions 1969-1971” and Sail On Sailor – 1972\, exploring in-depth the band’s transformative periods. These collections\, featuring a plethora of previously unreleased tracks\, showcase the band’s versatility and profound influence on the music industry. \n\n\n\nIn 2023\, The Beach Boys were celebrated in the CBS tribute special “Grammy Salute to the Beach Boys\,” featuring performances by a diverse array of artists including Beck\, Brandi Carlile\, Michael McDonald\, Pentatonix\, St. Vincent\, Weezer\, Norah Jones\, John Legend\, and Mumford & Sons among others. \n\n\n\nLooking ahead\, the band is set to debut their official book\, The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys\, in April 2024 via Gensis Publications.  Published in a limited edition of only 500 copies worldwide\, the book offers an intimate look at the band’s journey from a Hawthorne garage band to international stardom\, enriched with rare photographs and historical documents. \n\n\n\nThe Beach Boys have been a significant presence at major events\, including Live Aid and the Statue of Liberty’s 100th Anniversary Salute\, showcasing their unparalleled ability to captivate audiences. Mike Love’s contributions as a songwriter\, in collaboration with Brian Wilson\, have produced timeless hits like “Surfin’\,” “Fun\, Fun\, Fun\,” and “California Girls\,” “Warmth of the Sun\,” “Good Vibrations\,”  and long list of other titles highlighting his enduring talent. \n\n\n\nContinuing to engage his fans with new and innovative projects\, in 2020 Love released the single “This Too Shall Pass”  featuring John Stamos aimed at offering hope during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2019\, he released “12 Sides of Summer\,” featuring a mix of original songs\, covers\, and new versions of Beach Boys hits including “Surfin\,” “Surfin’ Safari” and “It’s Ok\,” featuring Hanson. The song marked Love’s second recording with Hanson\, after previously collaborating on “Finally it’s Christmas” for Love’s 2018 holiday album\, Reason For The Season\, which also features vocals from Love’s children: Ambha\, Brian\, Christian\, and Hayleigh Love. In 2017\, Love released a special double album entitled Unleash the Love featuring 13 previously unreleased songs and 14 re-recordings of Beach Boys classics to positive acclaim. \n\n\n\nMike Love’s philanthropy extends his influence far beyond the musical stage\, demonstrating a deep commitment to giving back to the community.  A Grammy® winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member\, Love has been at the forefront of numerous charitable efforts\, using his platform to support a wide range of causes. In 1990\, he responded to President George H. W. Bush’s call for service by founding StarServe\, an initiative aimed at motivating young people towards community service\, showcasing his early commitment to philanthropy. His philanthropic efforts were recognized when he and his wife Jacquelyne received the prestigious Points of Light Award\, highlighting his significant contributions to volunteer service and impacting lives across the globe. Through the Love Foundation\, Mike has supported initiatives focusing on education\, health\, environmental conservation\, and disaster relief\, showcasing a legacy of compassion and service alongside his storied musical career.

In the event of cancellation due to extreme weather\, tickets will not be refunded. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Pixies \n\n\n\n2024 is a momentous year for Pixies. 35 years since groundbreaking Platinum-certified album Doolittle catapulted the band into the UK Top Ten\, and 20 years since their celebrated reformation at Coachella\, Pixies are deep into their second act. Bigger than ever\, playing to fans spanning multiple generations\, and in the midst of their most creative purple patch. A brand new album – titled The Night the Zombies Came – marks the group’s tenth studio record (if you count 1987’s Come On Pilgrim). 13 new songs that will arrive aptly in time for Halloween amongst a 2024 touring schedule taking in circa 70 shows across the globe – and even more to be announced in 2025. \n\n\n\nSpend an hour or two in the company of Charles Thompson IV\, and the conversation will soon fall to zombies\, bog people\, Druidism\, medieval theme restaurants\, shopping malls\, the Masons\, surf rock and the practice of slaughtering lambs in Monmouthshire. Along the way\, he might take in Shirley Collins\, the distinctive dry drum sound of 1970s’ Fleetwood Mac\, and the sestina\, a poetic form attributed to the 12th century Provencal troubadour Arnaut Daniel.  \n\n\n\nOut of such disparate wonders are Pixies’ albums made. “Fragments that are related\,” as Thompson (better known as Black Francis) puts it. “And juxtaposed with other fragments in other songs. And in a collection of songs in a so-called LP\, you end up making a kind of movie.” \n\n\n\nSince their earliest days in late 80s’ Massachusetts\, and on past their 2004 reformation\, Pixies have worked this way — proclaiming their love for both Hüsker Dü and Peter\, Paul and Mary\, relishing both loud and quiet\, singing somewhat kaleidoscopically of reincarnation\, scuba diving\, Luis Buñuel\, necromancy\, Samson and Delilah and the 1986 comedy drama Crimes of the Heart. From the start their music has been imagistic\, contradictory\, electrifying. They stand as one of the most influential\, revered and deeply adored bands of all time. \n\n\n\nThe juxtaposed fragments that make up this year’s The Night the Zombies Came are perhaps the most cinematic of their career — gothic meets sci-fi shlock\, horror flicks\, dark folk tales and Ennio Morricone westerns. \n\n\n\nEarly on\, the band noticed the songs were dividing into two camps: what they came to call the ‘Dust Bowl Songs’ — country-tinged\, ballad-esque numbers such as Primrose and Mercy Me\, and on the other side\, the album’s furious punk numbers such as You’re So Impatient and Chicken. Only Jane (the Night the Zombies Came) keeps its feet in both camps — reminiscent of early 60s Phil Spector\, the band hitting the sweet spot between mushy and abrasive\, it’s a track that Thompson allegedly likened to being chased by a swarm of bees. \n\n\n\nFor this outing\, the band returned to work with producer Tom Dalgety\, who has steered Pixies since 2016’s Head Carrier and on through 2019’s Beneath the Eyrie and 2022’s Doggerel\, and whom Thompson refers to as “a good master of a lot of information” and drummer David Lovering calls “a fifth Pixie now.” \n\n\n\nOver the course of the last three records\, they have established a rhythm with Dalgety: the producer heading to Thompson’s house in Massachusetts a week before recording to familiarise himself with the new songs\, sitting in his front room with a laptop\, while the singer strums out a few ideas. “I really love that process\,” Dalgety says. “From a professional\, productive side of things it’s really nice to get to know the songs and experiment. But also from a geeky fan point of view it’s quite cool being sat on the sofa and seeing ten Pixies songs just suddenly unfold in front of you.” \n\n\n\nFrom there\, the band reconvened once again at Guilford Sound studio in Vermont\, sharing a house together\, rehearsing in the living room\, walking through the autumn woods each day to the studio to record. The hours were not relentless. When the sun went down\, Thompson notes\, they could still go howl at the moon. \n\n\n\nBut they used their time wisely and often experimentally. For several records now\, Thompson has been chasing a different sound for the drums — not the expansive boom of the expensive studio live room with its perfect acoustics and high-end microphones\, but something deader and drier and more akin to the records he loved from the early 1970s.  \n\n\n\nFor a couple of Zombies’ tracks — Chicken and Mercy Me\, Lovering and Dalgety relented. The producer set up a small drum kit in a small room\, deadened the drum skins with cloth and gaffer tape. “And they stuff David in there\,” recalls Thompson. “And you know\, climbing in and out of it is sort of like climbing in and out of a fish aquarium. And it probably gets warm in there. So I’m sure that he suffered for my dry drum sound. I don’t know if there was blood\, but there was definitely a lot of sweat. And maybe some tears.” \n\n\n\nLovering is diplomatic. “Compact would be the word for it\,” he says. “Everything was just nice and muffled the way I like to hear it. And if you listen now\, it is concise\, you hear the drums much more\, they’re not as open and brash or arena style. They’re just right there\, and it makes for a different kind of sound.” \n\n\n\nThere were other changes\, too. A line-up shift has brought in bassist Emma Richardson (Band of Skulls)\, and with it\, a different quality to the band’s sound. Thompson praises the restrained elegance of her voice. Dalgety speaks of her “fantastic creative vibe”. Lovering describes her as “a consummate bass player.”  \n\n\n\nThe recent tour\, of which Richardson was a part\, was particularly joyful for the drummer. “I think the response to these shows and the way that we’ve been playing is because of the rhythm section\,” he says. “Of course I’m up there\, but Emma is up there with me. And when the rhythm section is locked on\, and laying it down with power\, Joe and Charles can screw off as much as they want. She’s just killing it.” \n\n\n\nFor Richardson\, the invitation to join Pixies was a huge and unexpected compliment. She spent weeks exploring the band’s back catalogue ahead of the live shows\, trying to understand their magic.“They have this amazing way of making something that is quite a complicated arrangement sound really effortless and very succinct\,” she says. “But actually when you’re picking it apart as a musician you realise all the tricks that they use. How cleverly they form songs and structures and lyrics.” \n\n\n\nThe new record is particularly special to her. “It’s incredible. It feels slightly different from anything they’ve done before. It’s got this brilliant mixture of a knowing nostalgia and a punk\, energetic\, fun element. But it’s got this dark underbelly\, and an almost romantic longing feel to it. They’ve created these little worlds which are quite cerebral and dreamlike\, but it’s also got these big vistas. It’s quite cinematic.” \n\n\n\nZombies also marks an expanded role for guitarist Joey Santiago. The track I Hear You Mary began as an instrumental he wrote for the previous album\, and having also contributed his first lyrics on Doggerel\, on this record\, Thompson set Santiago the task of writing the words to Hypnotised by completing a sestina — a lyrical riddle of sorts\, formed of six stanzas of six lines\, in which words are rotated in a set pattern. Santiago\, startled by the responsibility\, set about labouring over a complex set of lyrics before coming to a realisation: “The truth of the matter is you’re just putting fucking words together. The lesson is just not to be precious. Just fucking do it.” \n\n\n\nIn recent years\, Santiago has also sought to learn more about guitar playing — aware\, he says\, that it might help conquer his long-running imposter syndrome. “I was afraid\, kinda\, that I was going to lose my identity if I started studying it\, but it made my studio experience a lot easier\,” he says. For months\, he found himself following the Youtube algorithm as it guided him through intensive tutorials. “Every musician will tell you that it’s a never ending thing\,” he says. “It’s pretty remarkable that there are 12 notes and there are still possibilities out there.” \n\n\n\nLovering\, too\, has been deep in pursuit of self-improvement. “I find that the only time I get better or change or learn new things is just by playing and playing and playing\,” he says. “It’s taken me 50 years to learn how to play the drums\, and I mean that honestly. In the last year I’ve learned the way to play off my right hand — I never did that in the past\, I was lazy as hell! And everything is like a clock now. So I’m excited not only with what we did with the record\, but for upcoming stuff. We’re going to sound good!” \n\n\n\nBack in the company of Thompson\, the conversation has moved on to headless chickens\, gargoyles\, the lingering presence of the undead. “When we’re putting together a record\,” he says\, “we’re not trying to make it fit around a particular theme\, but there may be a couple of catchphrases or words or concepts that are kicked around. On this particular record\, I would say it would be ‘zombies’. Though it’s not in every song\, and it’s not necessarily presented in a literal way.” \n\n\n\nOn every album they’ve ever made\, Pixies have taken the record’s title from the lyrics — a song title\, or a line. For a time\, Thompson says\, he struggled to find a title for this new collection of songs. “The only phrase that seemed to sound good to me is this one. Everything else seemed too goofy. You would think The Night the Zombies Came would be the most goofy-sounding\, but to my ear\, and to Tom’s also and to the rest of the band\, it felt like ‘Oh\, yeah\, The Night the Zombies Came. That’s it. Of course.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SpoonSpoon\, Austin’s most esteemed rock ambassadors\, have released ten albums to date including a string of five straight top 10 records: Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007)\, Transference (2010)\, They Want My Soul (2014)\, Hot Thoughts (2017)\, and Lucifer on the Sofa (2022). \n\n\n\nLucifer on the Sofa earned the band its first-ever GRAMMY nomination (Best Rock Album) and was praised by Rolling Stone as “The best thing they’ve ever done.” \n\n\n\nHailed by TIME as “one of the greatest American rock bands”\, Spoon topped Metacritic’s chart as the single most critically acclaimed band of the aughts. \n\n\n\nIn 2019\, Spoon released Everything Hits At Once: The Best of Spoon\, which was praised by NPR as a “convincing argument for Spoon being one of their era’s most distinctive and excellent rock bands.” That same year\, Fender released the Britt Daniel Signature Telecaster Thinline as part of their artist signature electric guitar series – highlighting the enduring influence of Daniel’s precision-punk style that has helped fuel Spoon to become what the Guardian calls ‘one of the finest bands of their generation.’ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout FazerdazeIn a society where being strong and resilient is often held up like a badge of honour\, it’s much\, much harder to acknowledge when enough is enough – to accept when it’s time to let go. It’s a truth that New Zealand singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Amelia Murray has spent years wrangling with\, but one whose story thankfully comes with an empowering punchline of personal reclamation in the form of ‘Break!’: her returning EP as Fazerdaze. \n\n\n\n“You can get so caught up in these false constructs of niceness and loyalty – these rigid societal constructs of what being a ‘good’ person’ is – but the best thing I did for myself was break free of that paradigm and ruthlessly start putting myself first\,” she begins. “This EP is a punctuation mark of that\, of being disruptive and severing from the false parts of myself.”

SUMMARY:Hot Tuna at The Wilma
DESCRIPTION:Logjam Presents welcomes Hot Tuna for a live concert performance at The Wilma in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm Saturday\, September 13\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nLogjam Presents welcomes Hot Tuna for a live concert performance at The Wilma in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm Saturday\, September 13. \n\n\n\nTickets on sale at Logjam Presents Box Offices and online while supplies last.  This is a fully-seated event with reserved floor seating\, reserved standard balcony seating and reserved premium balcony seating tickets are available. Pricing on the floor varies based on location. All ages are welcome. \n\n\n\nTake a look at these tips to best prepare yourself for a smooth ticket buying experience. \n\n\n\nAdditional ticketing and venue information can be found here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Hot TunaThe name Hot Tuna invokes as many different moods and reactions as there are Hot Tuna fans — millions of them. To some\, Hot Tuna is a reminder of some wild and happy times. To others\, that name will forever be linked to their own discovery of the power and depth of American blues and roots music. To newer fans\, Hot Tuna is a tight\, masterful duo that is on the cutting edge of great music. \n\n\n\nAll of those things are correct\, and more. For more than four decades\, Hot Tuna has played\, toured\, and recorded some of the best and most memorable acoustic and electric music ever. And Hot Tuna is still going strong — some would say stronger than ever. \n\n\n\nThe two kids from 1950s Washington\, D.C. knew that they wanted to make music. Jorma Kaukonen\, son of a State Department official\, and Jack Casady\, whose father was a dentist\, discovered guitar when they were teenagers (Jack\, four years younger\, barely so). They played\, and they took in the vast panorama of music available in the nation’s capital\, but found a special love of the blues\, country\, and jazz played in small clubs. \n\n\n\nJorma went off to college\, while Jack sat in with professional bands and combos before he was even old enough to drive\, first playing lead guitar\, then electric bass. \n\n\n\nIn the mid-1960s\, Jorma was invited to play in a rock‘n’roll band that was forming in San Francisco; he knew just the guy to play bass and summoned his old friend from back east. The striking signature guitar and bass riffs in the now-legendary songs by the Jefferson Airplane were the result. \n\n\n\nThe half-decade foray into 1960s San Francisco rock music was for Jack and Jorma an additional destination\, not the final one. They continued to play their acoustic blues on the side\, sometimes performing a mini-concert amid a Jefferson Airplane performance\, sometimes finding a gig afterward in some local club. They were\, as Jack says\, “Scouting\, always scouting\, for places where we could play.” \n\n\n\nThe duo did not go unnoticed\, and soon there was a record contract and not long afterward a tour. Thus began a career that would result in more than two-dozen albums\, thousands of concerts around the world\, and continued popularity. \n\n\n\nHot Tuna has gone through changes\, certainly. A variety of other instruments\, from harmonica to fiddle to keyboards\, have been part of the band over the years\, and continue to be\, varying from project to project. The constant\, the very definition of Hot Tuna\, has always been Jorma and Jack. \n\n\n\nThe two are not joined at the hip\, though; through the years\, both Jorma and Jack have undertaken projects with other musicians and solo projects of their own. But Hot Tuna has never broken up\, never ceased to exist\, nor have the two boyhood pals ever wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in music. \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, they have been joined by a succession of talented musicians: Drummers\, harmonica players\, keyboardists\, backup singers\, violinists and more\, all fitting with Jorma and Jack’s current place in the musical spectrum. Jorma and Jack certainly could not have imagined\, let alone predicted\, where the playing would take them. It’s been a long and fascinating road to numerous\, exciting destinations. Two things have never changed: They still love playing as much as they did as kids in Washington\, D.C. and there are still many\, many exciting miles yet to travel on their musical odyssey.

The film not only highlights lives forever changed through these experiences but also reveals a profound truth: healing is never one-sided. \n\n\n\nDiscussion follows each film and then the closing keynote with Temple.

Gazca was always drawn to music\, listening to a mix of the in-your-face classic rock of AC/DC\, the pulsating nu-metal of Slipknot\, and the vivacious southern parking lot pimping music of Slim Thug\, Lil Keke\, Sauce Walka\, and the rappers who ushered in the mid-00s Southern rap takeover. He always gravitated towards music\, but after losing his mother early in life\, and dealing with his dad being in and out of jail\, Gazca faced a crossroads in seventh grade as he pondered how to change his circumstances. “Being a rapper is damn near impossible\,” Gazca says. “With the luck that I got\, I know I’m not making. What am I going to do in life? I couldn’t see myself doing anything else\, so it just had to happen.” With that realization\, Gazca got to work\, spending as much time in his uncle’s makeshift studio as possible and entering into rap battles around the city. But issues with self-esteem pushed him off the path in a bad way. Scared of repeating the mistakes of his other family members\, Gazca re-dedicated himself to his craft around junior year of high school\, continuing to hone his rapping with his uncle and his cousins. After locking in and releasing his first project\, Southern Texas Project\, in 2020\, Gazca got the attention of Greg Gates\, who offered to manage him. Gates changed Gazca’s life\, pushing him to learn to make songs\, rather than focus purely on rapping. “La Muerte” was the lightbulb moment for Gazca\, a rapid tempo\, Mexican guitar-influenced banger that acted as a template to the charismatic trunk rattlers Gazca would go on to make. From there\, Gazca stayed in the studio\, dropping projects and songs at a furious pace such as 2021’s 1 Double O and 2022’s Nonsense and Mexican Shit. But 2023 would be the year everything fell into place\, starting with his breakout track “Johnny Dang\,” which saw the Tejano rapper link up with Texas staple Drodi and the “Sittin Sidewayz” legend Paul Wall for a melding of Texas’ storied past and bright future. The track served as a perfect primer to his album\, Lonestar Luchador\, which meshed his love of wrestling\, comedy and hard-hitting bars into a raucous album that showcases his limitless ambition and knack for worldbuilding. In 2024\, he continued that momentum\, being named to the newest XXL Freshman class and finding success with his follow up project\, Texas Technician. The new project forgoes the conceptual approach of Lonestar Luchador in favor of paying homage to the state and sound that made him. Linking with fellow Texas titans such as Z-Ro\, Paul Wall\, Slim Thug and Le$\, while also finding contemporaries to match his energy such as DaBaby\, Fredo Bang and MoneyBagg Yo\, Texas Technician is a coming-of-age story best heard on the biggest subwoofers in the parking lot. “I like when people hand out CDs in the back of the slab\,” Gazca says. “You see that trunk and it’s glowing with the lights and the speakers\, and bumping their music. That’s the feeling I wanted to bring to this tape\, it just falls back to me loving the hustle and the grind of being a Texas Technician.” Tracks such as the eerie\, Screw-influenced flex fest with MoneyBagg Yo “Twisting Fingers\,” show off That Mexican OT’s natural ability to bring his features into his world\, sounding like a late night\, dirt road rager in Texas. While more introspective tracks such as the heartfelt “Muchos Gracias” reveals his somber side\, remembering everyone who helped him get to this point. Texas Technician shows all sides of Virgil Rene Gazca\, the man inside\, and the outlaw\, slick-tongued persona of That Mexican OT. With his Texas Technician tour in full swing\, new singles like the Denzel Curry vivacious team up “Black Flag Freestyle\,” and a new project he says has some of his most eclectic music to date\, That Mexican OT has all the support and momentum to ascend to Southern rap royalty\, and position himself as a new leader for Texas rap\, and beyond. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout DrodiDRODi is a dynamic figure in the independent hip-hop scene\, with a growing portfolio of music and a strong digital presence.
