DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Stevensville’s 112th Annual Creamery Picnic Weekend with festivities happening 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm Friday\, August 1 and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm Saturday\, August 2 on Main Street and at Lewis & Clark Park\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 1907\, over 50 local dairymen formed a cooperative creamery in Stevensville\, with manager John Howe establishing the creamery’s “Gold Bar” butter and ice cream as one of the state’s outstanding dairy products. \n\n\n\nWhen a fire gutted the creamery in June 1911\, Howe told the community that if they could rebuild the business in 30 days\, he would host the biggest celebration they had ever seen. \n\n\n\nThey came close to the deadline (39 days)\, and Howe stuck to his word. \n\n\n\nThere were public speakers and a free lunch\, which included “Gold Bar” ice cream and butter\, and all of the buttermilk the participants could hold. \n\n\n\nSince then\, the annual Stevensville Creamery Picnic remains a part of Stevensville’s heritage\, and is always held the first weekend in August. Creamery Picnic is where our community connects; guests come together for an experience unlike anything else. This month we proudly present a duo exhibit by brothers Cameron & Quinton Decker. \n\n\n\nCameron and Quinton Decker are both multidisciplinary artists keenly aware of the importance of history and ancestry.. Cameron’s art practice is guided by intuition\, memory\, and connection to place. His work with natural materials carries meaning\, memory\, and deep time of geological histories compressed into color. Whether working in painting\, drawing\, printmaking\, or public art\, Cameron’s hope is to honor those who have shaped him.Quinton’s work spans painting\, sculpture\, and photography exploring themes of identity\, perception and social mythology. This exhibit will feature two bodies of work in painting and photography\, the first which reframes dehumanizing mythical creatures in order to examine power of the colonial imagination; and in the other\, to examine humanity and the erosion of the American Dream. DESCRIPTION:Bernice’s Bakery in Missoula hosts a First Friday Art Show by abstract photographer Judy Anne Johnson 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday\, August 1\n\n\n\n\n\nPhotographer Judy Anne Johnson makes Missoula her home. In her upcoming solo exhibition\, she explores abstraction by photographing locations around Missoula. Her photographic approach is instinctual and her subjects diverse. Her photography is more about the how and why than the what\, about what grabs her emotions and captures her imagination. She photographs the land\, places\, decay\, history\, animals and people. She is drawn to the whimsy and humor in life which often makes its way into a photograph. \n\n\n\nShe has lived in Oregon\, Washington\, Indiana\, and New York state. She travels extensively\, most recently making several solo road trips to the American Southwest. She traveled across America in 2021 and 2023\, keeping to the small highways and byways. She has traveled to France\, Iran\, Jordan\, and Lebanon. And Phoenix. It was in Phoenix at a workshop this spring that she discovered the magic and freedom of abstract photography. \n\n\n\nMs. Johnson developed an interest in photography at an early age. She has studied photography at every opportunity over the years\, the technique and the art of it\, beginning with film. She drew early inspiration from her mother and from the black & amp; white masters of the 20th Century. Black & white photography remains her enduring love though she makes color images as well\, depending on the story she wants to tell.These days she takes her digital camera almost everywhere she goes. Photography “sharpens mypowers of observation and fills my world with a sense of wonder and well-being.”

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Stevensville’s 112th Annual Creamery Picnic Weekend with festivities happening 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm Friday\, August 1 and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm Saturday\, August 2 on Main Street and at Lewis & Clark Park\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 1907\, over 50 local dairymen formed a cooperative creamery in Stevensville\, with manager John Howe establishing the creamery’s “Gold Bar” butter and ice cream as one of the state’s outstanding dairy products. \n\n\n\nWhen a fire gutted the creamery in June 1911\, Howe told the community that if they could rebuild the business in 30 days\, he would host the biggest celebration they had ever seen. \n\n\n\nThey came close to the deadline (39 days)\, and Howe stuck to his word. \n\n\n\nThere were public speakers and a free lunch\, which included “Gold Bar” ice cream and butter\, and all of the buttermilk the participants could hold. \n\n\n\nSince then\, the annual Stevensville Creamery Picnic remains a part of Stevensville’s heritage\, and is always held the first weekend in August. Creamery Picnic is where our community connects; guests come together for an experience unlike anything else. Her first single\, I Don’t Care\, was released on September 24\, 2021\, a track that would bring her further recognition\, and her first EP\, Till’ Death Was Never Enough\, was released on August 4\, 2023. \n\n\n\nThe band begins with Vira and Blank (bassist)\, who worked together on a couple of songs and then moved to Dallas. There they met Matt and Anthony (both guitarists) thanks to Vira’s announcement on her social networks\, communicating that she needed members to form her band. Thus forming the particular sound and name of the band\, VIOLENT VIRA.

SUMMARY:Route of the Hiawatha Trail Ride with Women Bike Missoula
DESCRIPTION:Meet up at 7:30 am Monday\, August 25 at the Lower Snowbowl Parking Lot with Women Bike Missoula to carpool out for a daytrip bicycle ride on the Route of the Hiawatha Trail\n\n\n\n\n\nMEET/LEAVE: at 7:30 am Monday morning\, August 25 at the Bluebird Trailhead (lower Snowbowl parking lot) on the NE corner of Reserve and I-90 in Missoula.  We’ll have carpools organized prior to meeting so we make sure there’s room for everyone.  Click here for map. \n\n\n\nThis ride is a classic rails to trails path here in Montana\, where trains once passed between Chicago and the Pacific NW.  Now privately managed\, it requires you purchase a pass to access the 15 mile trail from the East Portal in Montana to the Pearson Trailhead in Idaho.  In this direction it’s all downhill and includes trestles with incredible views and tunnels (one is 1.7 miles long!) so it’s truly a unique experience.  This is a first for Women Bike Missoula and if you’ve always wanted to try it but wanted to go with a buddy\, this is your chance! \n\n\n\nBecause this takes a bit more organization\, we’re asking for everyone to RSVP Carol Admire (ride leader) by either responding back to this email or text/call 720-353-1812 no later than Friday\, August 22. THIS IS CRITICAL.  We have to be able to organize the carpools and know how many people to wait for at the parking lot before departure.  Each rider will need to pre-purchase their own ticket and choose whether to ride both directions or just down and take the shuttle back up.  Visit here to purchase your pass ($18 without shuttle\, $35 with shuttle) and for any additional information on the trail itself.     \n\n\n\nA good bike light and light jacket are necessary for this ride.  Rental lights may be available according to the website.  Bring your own lunch or there are opportunities to purchase food and snacks at the start and end of the trail.  The menus are available at https://www.ridethehiawatha.com/food-for-sale-on-the-trail. \n\n\n\nFor all our rides:  don’t forget your helmet\, water\, sunscreen and bike light.  If weather conditions exist where the ride would need to be cancelled (heat\, air quality\, thunderstorms)\, someone from WBM will be at the trailhead(s) to let you know.
