DESCRIPTION:A new art exhibit “Treasure Trove”\, celebrating Missoula’s history and The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula’s 50th anniversary  in everyday treasures and artifacts through the eyes of artists\, opens on Thursday\, February 26 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the HMFM\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Historical Museum at Fort Missoula is proud to announce Treasure Trove\, an art exhibition\, opening Thursday\, February 26th \, at 5pm\, at the Historical Museum. The exhibition celebrates Missoula’s history through the eyes of artists. Treasure Trove is inspired by the Museum’s Everyday Treasures exhibit\, which celebrates the Museum’s 50th anniversary and highlights unique and meaningful artifacts donated during the first decade of the Museum’s collecting. These seemingly ordinary items hold extraordinary personal and historical significance. Each artifact provides a glimpse into the lives of Missoulians-illustrating the story of early Montanans and how they engaged with their families\, friends\, environment and community. Participating artists selected artifacts from the Everyday Treasures gallery and reimagined them through their own artistic medium and expertise. Each piece of art interprets the Museum’s objects in new ways\, bridging the past and present while honoring the stories that make these everyday items special. Museum members and staff will select award winners for designations like Best of Show and HiSTORY  Hero\, while the public will have an opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice award. “The Everyday Treasures exhibit reminds us that history is found in the simplest objects\,” said Carrie Nowlen\, Development and Communications Director. “What makes them special is how they were used\, the stories they tell and the people they remind us of. A hay hook is just a hay hook\, until you recognize it’s provenance and connection to someone’s grandma or grandpa—or you learn it was used on the first ranch in Montana\, and then suddenly it’s evident that this hay hook is a part of your story-or-maybe even foundational to our history and the economic and social landscape of our state and community. Talented artists like Stella Nall\, Amanda Browder and Chris Alveshere transformed these artifacts into creative expressions that deepen our connection with each other and our shared heritage.” Treasure Trove exemplifies the Museum’s commitment to serving the community through collaboration\, storytelling\, and preserving local history for generations to come. The exhibition is sponsored by Frame of Mind and will debut with a gallery opening on Thursday\, February 26th at 5:00 pm at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula. DESCRIPTION:The Historical Museum Fort Missoula hosts the 49th annual 4th at The Fort Celebration from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday\, July 4\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Historical Museum at Fort Missoula is pleased to announce our annual 4th at the Fort Celebration.  On Friday July 4th\, the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula and the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History will partner to present many family-friendly activities to celebrate our country’s independence. \n\n\n\nAdmission by suggested donation and supports the activities of the Friends of the Historical Museum\, the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History\, and Future Farmers of America. \n\n\n\nFestivities begin at 10:00 am and includes: \n\n\n\n\nLive Music featuring The Missoula City Band\, Daren Wade\, & Calamity Cowboy \n\n\n\nWagon Rides\n\n\n\nOld-fashioned children’s games\n\n\n\nFood trucks: Patti Wagon\, Buddha Belly\, The Blackfoot Picnic Basket and more!\n\n\n\nScavenger hunt (for adults\, too)\n\n\n\nTours of the schoolhouse\, Drummond Depot\, Trolley Barn\, & locomotive\n\n\n\nHistoric sawmill demos\n\n\n\nAntique engine displays\n\n\n\nHistorical surveying and MT genealogy\n\n\n\nCraft vendors\n\n\n\nActivity Booths hosted by various groups\n\n\n\nMiniature ponies\n\n\n\nCold beer\n\n\n\nModel Railroad Displays\n\n\n\nAnd much more!\n\n\n\n\nThe party goes on rain or shine.
