SUMMARY:Lovesick Ball with Malcolm Contreras & Soup Du Jour and The Dead & Down at Zootown Arts Community Center
DESCRIPTION:KBGA presents The Lovesick Ball featuring Malcolm Contreras & Soup Du Jour and The Dead & Down at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula at 7:30 pm Thursday\, February 12\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nMalcolm Contreras and Soup Du Jour are a 4-piece band consisting of Lane Ulberg\, Llwyn Clark-Gaynor\, and Cooper Godfried. These fellas put on a spectacular spectacle\, only seen about once every two months that ranges from indie rock to shoegaze to ambient music\, folk\, and bedroom pop. \n\n\n\nThe Dead & Down are an indie roots-rock band inspired as much by the vast landscapes and dramatic mountain ranges of their Montana home as they are by the myriad musical influences that weave through their sound. Based around the introspective songwriting and dusty vocals of frontman Taylor Burlage\, the band navigates sonic trails between rust-flecked alt country and atmospheric indie rock\, with detours through psychedelia and genre-bending experimentation. They have opened for the likes of Fruition\, Futurebirds\, The Last Revel and Blind Pilot. They have hit the stage at Zootown Music Festival\, Treefort Music Fest and more. Their 2024 release\, No Broken Bones\, displays the sound of a band willing to take chances and explores the human condition in fun and surprising ways. \n\n\n\n“The Dead & Down have a sound that doesn’t fit into one bin. They combine elements of Country\, Americana\, and Rock for a sonic experience that stays interesting. Their new song\, “Switchbacks” has a solid country-rock feel\, but the break in the middle is a lot more akin to prog rock. It’s a combo that works!” – Bob Wall\, KGVM Bozeman \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:PONS with Doris Doom at Zootown Arts Community Center
DESCRIPTION:Experience the face-melting rock spectacle that is PONS at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula at 6:30 pm Friday\, January 2\n\n\n\n\n\nIF YOU STOP YOU DIE – \n\n\n\nRock n’ Roll will never be a lazy game. PONS is here to set the record straight. Channeling the wild\, untamable spirit of the masters of the road that came before them\, PONS brings a relentless\, “NO MERCY” approach to DIY touring. Burning more calories in one night than most bands do in a year\, PONS doesn’t play music—they detonate on stage. \n\n\n\nNamed “NYC’s Hardest Working Band” in 2022 (and a blistering runner-up in 2023) by Oh My Rockness\, PONS has earned their place as one of the most vital and chaotic forces in the NYC underground. \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, PONS evolved into a solo project of visionary frontman Jack Parker\, and the transformation is nothing short of a sonic nuclear meltdown. A storm of sound\, fury\, and passion so fierce\, a PONS show can only be described as sublime madness. It’s angular. It’s aggressive. It’s a relentless sonic assault that drags you into the future\, kicking and screaming. \n\n\n\nSharing the stage with heavyweights like Gogol Bordello\, Lambrini Girls\, Geese\, Vundabar\, and A Place To Bury Strangers\, PONS take no prisoners. Leaving behind a trail of smashed gear\, contorted bodies\, blinding lights\, and frenetic\, throttling beats\, it’s pure glam-rock bravado colliding with punk’s raw edge and electronica’s dystopian pulse. \n\n\n\nTaking cues from the anarchic swagger of Iggy Pop\, the electronic chaos of Suicide\, the slick groove of LCD Soundsystem\, and the haunting\, glitch-filled world of Crystal Castles\, PONS spits the digital bile of our decaying\, internet-saturated world straight in your face. \n\n\n\nBEAR WITNESS TO PONS. \n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets LINK \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:First Friday Art Exhibit "The Mirror Talks Back" by Lillian Nelson at Zootown Arts Community Center
DESCRIPTION:Meet artist Lillian Nelson for the exhibit opening “The Mirror Talks Back” at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm First Friday\, January 2\n\n\n\n\n\nThe thought that each and every one of us is a universe unto itself fills me with wonder. Each of us is filled and built up from completely unique sets of genes\, circumstances\, joys\, traumas\, interests\, and on and on and on. The scope of our varying individual identity is dizzying in its complexity and nuance\, a sharp juxtaposition to the categorical boxes in which we attempt to organize ourselves. \n\n\n\nThrough deep introspection into my own late diagnosis with autism as well as the observations of the world around me\, with this exhibit I have attempted to capture even the tiniest spectrum of the notion: What makes the Self “self”? What is at the root of it all? The way we are shaped affects not just ourselves but everyone around us\, including the natural world. What would happen if we were truly honest\, not just with each other\, but with the reflections staring back at us.” \n\n\n\nNelson is a Montana native\, earning her BFA from the University of Montana in 2007. She has collaborated and created a number of art programs in Missoula over the years including the Gallery E3 Convergence\, VonCommon\, Allez and currentlyTorrents Art at the Confluence Center. She has shown in multiple local\, national\, and international galleries and museums\, is represented by Radius Gallery in Missoula\, MT\, and is a proficient muralist in the Missoula and Bitterroot valleys. She lives with her husband and three children in Missoula. \n\n\n\nJoin the artist for the exhibit opening at the Zootown Arts Community Center\, Friday\, January 2 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Mount Pom with Minot\, J.A.D.E. and Dylan Running Crane at Zootown Arts Community Center
DESCRIPTION:Punky-twangy Mount Pom plays with support from Minot (garage punk)\, J.A.D.E. (fresh rock & roll) and Dylan Running Crane (celestial folk) all in one show at Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula at 7:30 pm Sunday\, October 19\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\nMount Pom is the work of a Frostburg\, MD based artist named Koda Murphy. She started performing early in 2019 and put out a self recorded demo EP at the end of the same year. In 2023 she finished the recording of her first studio recorded album\, Eating Up the Mountains. It was recorded at The Warren with Matt Wocjik. She writes songs for thought daughters and former (or current) emo kids. \n\n\n\nMinot is a lo-fi garage punk baking mixture made of two parts Midwestern and a dash of Northern New England. The shortest distance between two sonic points is made by leaving no room for lengthy melodic banter. Drenched in reverb to cover their inadequacies; This band has a driving rhythm of Mo Tucker’s brother and the belief that less is always more. Minot because….Why not? \n\n\n\nJ.A.D.E. is a high-energy band hailing from the mountains of small-town Western Montana. Their wide variety of influences shines brightly in their songs. This unique\, not quite rock\, not exactly pop sound with an edgy punk rock twist is addictive. They send driving rhythms\, interwoven melodies\, and powerful vocals straight through your ears deep into your heart and soul. When on stage they are focused on bringing a sound that inspires everyone to get on their feet and dance like the universe depends on it. \n\n\n\nDylan Running Crane is a singer-songwriter from Browning\, Montana\, a place that remains the subject of most of her work. Her vibe is country meets rez-folk meets tender and silly. Check out her work with Cry Baby – https://crybabymissoula.bandcamp.com/track/missoula \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Jonathan Richman featuring Tommy Larkins at the ZACC
DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Richman featuring Tommy Larkins at the ZACC in Missoula Saturday at 8:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors @ 7:00 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJonathan Richman featuring Tommy Larkins at the ZACC in Missoula Saturday at 8:00 pm. \n\n\n\n“Richman is one of America’s most unique and dynamic songwriters…” – Nashville Scene “Richman didn’t need much else besides a beat to work his magic.” – New York Daily News \n\n\n\n“Buy tickets early. Buy tickets often. This is just good general life advice\, but even more so when you’re talking about Jonathan Richman. Don’t get denied at the door\, don’t leave things up to chance: You will regret it.” – Nashville Scene \n\n\n\n“Rhymes worthy of Ogden Nash.” – The New York Times \n\n\n\n“Richman has spent decades removing barriers between himself and his audience\, cultivating an intimacy that is almost extinct in modern music.”- Nashville Scene \n\n\n\n“As of a few years ago\, I was going to just play theaters\, cabarets and such\, but we ended up by mistake at the Zebulon in Los Angeles and had such a fine time that those kind of shows have to happen too. So\, you might see us nowadays in theaters\, cabaret-style places\, or the right club or bar. The theaters have the best sound\, usually\, and under-21s can get in\, but in the clubs people can dance and get close in to ya\, like we like. We’ll keep trying things.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:11th Annual Missoula Monster Project at the ZACC
DESCRIPTION:Head to the Zootown Arts Community Center on 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm First Friday\, October 3 to celebrate the 11th Annual Missoula Monster Project\, marking more than a decade of monster magic that begins in Missoula’s kindergarten classrooms\n\n\n\n\n\n11th Annual Missoula Monster Project at the ZACC Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. \n\n\n\nHead to the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) on First Friday\, October 3\, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm to celebrate the 11th Annual Missoula Monster Project\, marking more than a decade of monster magic that begins in Missoula’s kindergarten classrooms. \n\n\n\nEach year\, the ZACC partners with the Missoula County Public Schools Fine Arts Department to produce one of Missoula’s most beloved community art traditions. Kindergarteners unleash their imaginations to draw monsters\, and adult artists reinterpret those drawings in their own medium. The finished works are displayed side-by-side at the ZACC throughout October\, with the exhibition launching at a family-friendly opening party featuring live music\, monster cake\, and plenty of creativity to go around. This year’s participating schools are Franklin\, Jeannette Rankin\, and Chief Charlo Elementary Schools. \n\n\n\nOpening night festivities include a performance by Cowboy Andy & the Salamanders on the Show Room stage from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm\, plus free monster cake generously provided by Yoke’s Fresh Market. Adult-created monster artworks will be available for purchase – arrive early to claim your favorite before it’s gone! \n\n\n\nThe Monster Project isn’t just fun\, it’s meaningful. Proceeds from the sale of monsters\, donated by participating artists\, support arts education in Missoula County Public Schools and ZACC classrooms. Funds are shared with the MCPS Fine Arts Department to help ensure that every child in Missoula has access to high-quality arts opportunities. The exhibit will remain on display in the ZACC’s Main Gallery through October 26. This wonderful community event is supported in part by First Security Bank\, Windfall\, Blackfoot Communications\, Park Side Credit Union\, Stockman Bank\, Young Mazda\, the Good Food Store\, the Top Hat Bar & Restaurant and Sussex School. \n\n\n\nFor those who can’t attend in person\, the 11th Annual Missoula Monster Project will also be available for purchase online on the ZACC website following the reception. The goal this year: to find a home for every monster. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related
