Veterans Day Weekend PICKS: Thursday, November 10th thru Sunday, November 13th

It’s not officially winter yet, but ok, it’s winter! With this last week’s first big snow, XC skiing is already starting to happen up on Lolo Pass, here at Rattlesnake Canyon, and any number of other places in-between. The forecast may be kissing barely single-digit lows, but highs should be around 30 all weekend. Time your outdoor good times accordingly!
Once again, The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Veterans Day Weekend PICKS – Thursday thru Sunday.
Friday, November 11 is Veterans Day. It’s the day set aside to thank and honor ALL who have served, living or deceased, but particularly the living veterans among us. If you know a veteran, thank them for their service.
The Wilma will be a busy place again with The Infamous Stringdusters playing Friday, and then Martha Scanlan & Jon Neufeld with an album release show on Saturday.
Saturday is the first Missoula Valley Winter Market of the season near Scheels inside Southgate Mall.
Holiday Bazaars & Markets are well underway, and happening this weekend in Darby, and Missoula at the Fairgrounds.
Saturday afternoon your Montana Grizzlies meet the Eastern Washington Eagles for a 1 o’clock kickoff at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Go Griz! The Montana State Cyclocross Championship gives the rest of us a good excuse to bring the cowbell and drink beer in the snow Saturday at Maverick Stadium / Big Sky Park while watching some seriously great bike racing.
We’re counting at least 70 music shows of one kind or another in the area. We’ve got options!
And – we would be remiss if we didn’t give you a heads-up about “The Big Lebowski” showing Saturday night at the historic Philipsburg Theater. You know what to do!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Support our local farmers and crafts people. Go for a crisp hike or get in your first XC ski of the season! Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Scott Bragonier
Draught Works
915 Toole Avenue, Missoula, Montana
“I was born and raised in the mountains of Wyoming and was instilled with a deep love of the land, the people, and our heritage at an early age. As a teenager, I was paid a little extra to play guitar and sing classic cowboy songs to guests when working on ranches in the mountains of Wyoming. It wasn’t long before I tried my hand at writing – some were bad and some were worse. But perseverance and playing the odds sometimes pays off and I found the most exhilarating and free form of expression.
I draw musical inspiration from a wide array of sources; traditional folk, blues, jazz, modern rock, pop, country, and alternative. Yet when writing, I usually start with the intent of staying honest to my roots but end up walking the edge of tradition at times. “You need to let the song take you where it wants to go”, and often slips into a modern vibe of fresh influences.”

2022 Warren Miller Film “Daymaker” sponsored by the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation
O’Shaughnessy Center
1 Central Avenue, Whitefish, Montana
How’s it going? Ask us again tomorrow, because today’s answer will change soon enough. Except, the mountains have seen this all before. And when you stand on top of one, it’s awfully tough to make out whatever you left below.
From Alaska to Greece and beyond, our 73rd annual ski and snowboard film, Daymaker, will replace the mountains in your mind with ones that free your mind. Join Crazy Karl Fostvedt, Michelle Parker, Katie Burrell, Hana Beaman, Daron Rahlves, Ryland Bell, Cam Fitzpatrick, Connery Lundin and more on the hill, and you can’t really have a bad day.
British Columbia’s Monashees? Yes. The literal throne of the gods in Greece’s Olympus Mountains? Yep. Alaska? Twice. We hit Snowmass for the biggest party of the winter and surprise a Warren Miller superfan at the base of Snowbasin for a day skiing with Jonny Moseley and Marcus Caston. We follow one of Europe’s most legendary mountain guides, rewrite the rules of adaptive backcountry riding, and try to keep up with some of the most exciting skiers and snowboarders on the planet.
So, how’s it going? Now that you mention it, thinking about winter kinda made our day!

Journey “under the sea” with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the beloved animated motion picture. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the nasty sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome human Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
