i carry your heart
June 12- July 25
Radius Gallery’s upcoming exhibition showcases the minds and methods of Ric Gendron, Gabriel Kulka and Mel McCuddin, three artists whose narrative work explores life’s dark corners and bright horizons– evoking its mystery, humor and humanity.
The title of the exhibition is derived from a poem by e.e. cummings, which reads in part:
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

Because of the financial difficulties for everyone during COVID-19, we are dropping our booth price for Bitter Root Day, 2020! We understand the difficulties that come with the operation of a small business, particularly during this time! We want to make it as easy as possible to join us for the day to sell you wares and services. For this year the price will only be $25 for the day (with an additional $10 for electricity, if needed)
We have also adjusted our refund policy for Bitter Root Day, 2020. If we have to cancel the event, we will issue full refunds. If, for any reason, a vendor needs to cancel booth space at any time leading up to the event, we will issue a refund, minus the processing fee of $10.

Modified Lockdown
Rustic Hut
5341 US-93
Florence, MT 59833
Modified Lockdown is an eclectic duo based in the Bitterroot Valley. The crux of the band features heart-wrenching harmonies tossed over a salad of reimagined covers dressed as duets and a side of original tunes. Drawing from far too many influences, their sound is best described as a Modern Outlaw Roadhouse soundtrack, a harmonious soup of soulful Americana with highlights of Alt-country, Blues, Folk, and good old fashioned Rock & Roll. Their vocal stylings have been likened to Tom Waits and Bonnie Raitt mixing cocktails with The Civil Wars during Prohibition. These two musicians teach high school all day long and although they both love their jobs, they can get a little burned out at times. This band is the outlet that provides them with the placebo of temporary sanity, and they let it all out on the stage through seasoned vocal chords and an array of guitars that both holler and gently weep.
This is their first time at the hut, come on out and show them some love!

Flag Day Commemorative Ceremony
Missoula American Legion Post 27
Open field / North of Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery
1911 Tower Street, Missoula, Montana 59804
Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. The day might not receive the accolades or attention similar dates do, but as usual, Missoula’s American Legion steps up to honor its significance. And you are invited to be a part of the ceremony.
This coming Sunday, June 14 is flag day when our nation honors the symbol of our nation. In Missoula veterans and their supporters gather at the American Legion Post 27 Open Field, just north of Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery on Tower Street for a retirement of tattered, torn, and faded American flags, starting at 4 p.m.
A brief ceremony will take place with a presentation of the history of the American flag. Veterans from Ravalli and Missoula counties will lower the tattered flags into a ceremonial flame. Following the lowering of 300 to 500 flags.
Do you have a flag you would like to dispose of properly? If you have a tattered, torn or faded American flag, POW-MIA flag or Montana flag that needs to be properly retired, please bring it to the ceremony or drop it off at Missoula Textile on Russell Street or downtown Missoula, or bring flags to American Legion Post 27, 845 Ronan Street in Missoula.
