Weekend PICKS: Thursday, August 18th thru Sunday, August 21st

Hot summer days and nights! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
Farmers Markets season is in full swing in Western Montana. Huckleberries and Flathead cherries are current, and if you’re really lucky – Dixon Melons soon! You’ll find ’em here, and for a complete list of nearly three dozen in the area, check out our comprehensive Western Montana Farmers Markets story on The MUG.
We’re counting over 100 music shows of one kind or another in the area. We’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Support our local farmers and crafts people. Go float! Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.
Do you have a Western Montana event you would like to have included on The MUG? Click HERE to submit your event!

Yoni Wolf has spent the last two decades traveling the remote sonic terrain where underground hip hop, avant-pop, and psych-rock meet. In that time he’s cultivated a unique sound, and a unique position as one of contemporary music’s most distinctive voices. Some of Yoni’s most compelling and critically-praised musical experiments have been issued under the moniker WHY?, but Yoni has been involved in various other freewheeling music projects, including Yoni & Geti, Hymie’s Basement, and the seminal cLOUDDEAD.

3rd Annual Water Balloon Toss Tourney
Sacred Waters Brewing Company
3250 U.S. Highway 2 East, Kalispell, Montana
Here’s how it works:
Find a friend and sign up as a pair at Sacred Water bar (or call) no later than August 19.
Show up with your sporty moves and ready to get wet. We’ll assign each team to a round.
Teams will toss the water balloon back and forth with increasing challenges. If you or your partner drops and breaks a water balloon – you’re out of the running.
The winner of each round levels up to the semi-final round so be sure to stick around! All the winners from the initial rounds compete against each other until we only have three teams left.
The last three teams in play compete for the championship spot! There will only be ONE winning pair that will stay dry the entire time.
Top three teams take home prizes!
We’ll end the celebration with a super soaker water fight so bring your watery weapons and bring it on! Oh yeah…your hair might get wet and there’s no complaining. You’ve been warned!
