Weekend PICKS: Thursday, February 17th thru Sunday, February 20th
It’s winter! No, it might be spring! No, it’s still winter, and we have plenty of it left.
Fortunately, The MUG is here to help make the most of this “sprinter” weekend.
We’ve compiled the most comprehensive list of this weekend’s events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
We’re counting over 70(!) live music shows of one kind or another in the area. If you have not yet seen the Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso perform, we can assure you they are nothing less that amazing. Catch them at The Wilma on Thursday night if you can.
The winter markets on Saturdays are still there to get your local craft shopping fix handled. Tons of trivia to flex that big brain of yours. There’s rodeo happening in Kalispell. There’s motorcycle ice racing at Lake Mary Ronan!
The annual Big Sky Film Festival kicks off Friday in Missoula for a ten-day run. You can find some fantastic film and cinema showings, and a selection of movies to keep you coming back, or binge-streaming from home.
The fresh dusting of snow has topped off the outstanding February conditions for skiing – check the links here for Snowbowl, Lost Trail, Whitefish, Blacktail and Discovery. There are outstanding conditions for XC all around Missoula & Western Montana. FatBike Missoula has been grooming tracks at Twin Creeks. Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists are reporting good fat biking on the trails around Lake Como and other areas in great shape, too.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, and Phillipsburg.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

This week we’ll take advantage of the new snow and return to Pattee Canyon for a ski. Pattee has nice options for both groomed and ungroomed routes. Zootown Arts Community Center
216 W. Main Street, Missoula, Montana
$10 // All proceeds after operational costs go to Championship Boxing
To purchase advance tickets visit: https://showroom.zootownarts.org/…/revival-comedy…/
Revival Comedy is gathering Indigenous stand-up comedians from across Montana for a super special comedy fundraiser on February 17. Everyone will be telling their best jokes in support of Championship Boxing, a new and growing boxing club in Missoula that serves and uplifts Indigenous people while also teaching people the noble art and sweet science of hitting people.
Championship Boxing was formed to foster positive self-identity in youths by leveraging Indigenous knowledge systems. The program encourages physical, emotional, and spiritual strength to help kids build lifelong success. Coach Caferro started the program with a handful of people in a park in September, and has since grown to include a safe training area for the 30 kids in its roster. To keep this program flourishing, Championship Boxing is raising money for equipment and to pay for travel expenses.
Our line up for this month includes: Ferd Po, Mars Sanoval, Austin Valley, Michael Beers, Lenny Peppers, Tommy McClure, Sarah Ann Lives, Adrian Jawort, and Charlie Mulluk. This show is rated R — kids are welcome at your own discretion, but please be aware that it contains adult language and subject matter.
Masks are required for attendees for all Show Room events at this time. Masks may be removed for beverage consumption, but we ask that they please be worn at any time when not actively drinking. Foxy Brown
The Roxy Theater
718 S Higgins Ave, Missoula, Montana
In 1970, Twentieth Century-Fox, impressed by the visual zing Russ Meyer had been bringing to bargain-basement exploitation fare, handed the director a studio budget and the title to one of its biggest hits, Valley of the Dolls. With a satirical screenplay by Roger Ebert, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls follows three young female rockers going Hollywood, in hell-bent sixties style, under the spell of a flamboyant producer—whose decadent bashes showcase Meyer’s trademark libidinal exuberance. Transgressive and outrageous, this big-studio version of a debaucheries midnight movie is an addictively entertaining romp from one of cinema’s great outsider artists.

Zoso: A Tribute To Led Zeppelin
The Wilma
131 Higgins Ave, Missoula, Montana
ABOUT ZOSO: A TRIBUTE TO LED ZEPPELIN
Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it’s much more than just being a tribute. It’s about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly wound talent and authenticity.
Each band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes, Zoso’s 2400 live shows around the world, including a slot at Bonnaroo in 2003, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market.
Zoso’s live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It’s in the way they play: Each band member’s mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spoton vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new, diehard Zeppelin fans.
Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim, name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being “head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes,” and the Chicago SunTimes declared Zoso is “the closest to the original of any tribute.”
If you missed Led Zeppelin live in the 70’s or are looking to relive the “Hammer of the Gods” phenomenon, you must experience what the St. Petersburg Times calls “the most exacting of the Zeppelin tribute bands in existence.”

The Sweet Lillies
Monk’s Bar
221 Ryman Street, Missoula, Montana
The Sweet Lillies’ high-energy, melodic tunes have quickly captured the hearts of fans in Colorado and beyond. The band, formed in November of 2013, credits its appeal to the original and compelling songwriting of three women who share an unwavering commitment to life on the road. The magnetic combination of Julie Gussaroff on the upright bass, Becca Bisque on the viola, and Melly Frances on percussion and lead vocals – together with powerful three-part female harmony and a cast of exciting instrumentalists – gives this band a rare and alluring sound. As testament to their appeal, The Sweet Lillies have already shared the stage with the likes of Peter Rowan, Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident, Andy Hall of The Infamous String Dusters, and Jeff Austin. Based out of Colorado’s Front Range, The Sweet Lillies are continually expanding their audience and reach with a contagious love of music and a get-up-and-dance attitude that spreads lots of love and smiles.
