Weekend Picks: Thursday, January 28th thru Sunday, January 31st
Things are picking up as we close out January – Downtown Missoula’s Dine Local Week is happening through Sunday (support our local bars and restaurants – they need all the help they can get right now!). There’s live local music to be found up the Bitterroot and Flathead valleys, and right in Missoula, too. The Flathead Lake International Cinemafest is happening in Polson. Saturday morning Winter Markets are available to venture out for local produce and products. For those who prefer to stay in, there are several great local streaming performances and the Backcountry Film Festival to soak up. Enjoy the weekend!

The Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival is back for its 16th year, but it looks a little different this winter.
Instead of a night out at the silver screen, the outdoors film festival is coming to you – allowing viewers to stream films from the comfort of their own home.
The film lineup is packed full of stellar films this year, featuring athletic pursuits in the mountains, gorgeous cinematography, stories of how the snowsports community is adapting to a changing environment, and more.
As in previous years, a portion of proceeds from the screening will benefit our local chapters.
Spanning the entire state, our chapters are the heart of their communities and provide opportunities for volunteers, members, and outdoor enthusiasts to come together for wildlands education and advocacy. Use this link to purchase your ticket and a portion of proceeds will directly support MWA’s chapter initiatives and efforts.
Tickets are $10 per individual or $20 per household/group. Instructions on how to stream the films will be sent to the email you register with.

Arrowleaf has been waiting for a long time to share their most recent studio album “Getting By” with the world. When they finished tracking in mid-March, COVID had just been confirmed in Missoula, and they didn’t know what releasing an album in a pandemic might look like. One thing was for sure – a midsummer release and tour was no longer an option. The band went back to the drawing board, deciding on a slow release of two singles, followed by an album release one year after completing tracking. Their Social Distance Session on January 30th is a celebration of releasing their second single HDYK, as well as celebrating how far we’ve come in the last 10 months. Arrowleaf is the twentieth performance in our series — ‘Social Distance Sessions’ — a live-stream production partnership between the ZACC and Missoula’s Community Media Resource (MCAT). Shows will be streamed to the ZACC’s Facebook and YouTube, and to MCAT’s cable channel and Local Live website. Home audience members are asked to donate to the show’s Givebutter ‘virtual tip jar’ if able (use Venmo, Paypal, or a credit/debit card).
