Weekend PICKS: Thursday, March 10th thru Sunday, March 13th

Get ready! We’ve compiled the most comprehensive list of this weekend’s events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
We’re counting over 75(!) live music shows of one kind or another in the area. We challenge you to find another part of the country with such a high level of local music to choose from.
The winter markets on Saturdays are still here to get your local craft shopping fix handled. Tons of trivia to flex that big brain of yours.
While this last week of returning winter cold hasn’t been entirely welcome, there’s still respectable snow at elevation enabling some of the local ski areas to continue running strong – some even with fresh powder this week. Check the links here for current conditions at Snowbowl, Lost Trail, Whitefish, Blacktail and Discovery. There are still some good conditions for XC around Missoula & Western Montana. FatBike Missoula has been grooming tracks at Twin Creeks. Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists are reporting good fat biking on the trails around Lake Como and other areas in great shape, too. Good rule: don’t ride if you’ll be leaving big ruts, whether it’s snowy or muddy.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, and Phillipsburg.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Zootown Arts Community Center
216 W Main Street, Missoula, Montana
$10 To purchase advance tickets visit: https://showroom.zootownarts.org/…/infinite-ammo-but…/
Infinite Ammo is a pretty new band to the Missoula scene, blending punk and grindcore in a heavy slosh of distraught head banging. But I’m a Cheerleader is comprised of three nice queers and all of their repressed feelings they sing about. They invite you into all their sweetness and rage expressed through song (if you’re into that kind of thing). Both bands are Missoula’s pride and joy – making your heart pound and your mind mosh. They’ll be joined by a very special guest with a very punk sound and a humor forward name, Panic Boner. Don’t miss this night of punk mayhem and pure Missoula joy.

The Witness exhibit will have an opening reception Friday, March 11th, 2022, 5pm-7pm, and will remain on display until the first week of July. Allez! is located in the alleyway at 120 N. Higgins, Missoula, MT. The regional artists featured in this show are Monica Giles-BringsYellow, Ann Karp, Cameron Klise, Lauren Norby, Lady Pajama, Britt Moon, Sean Parson, and Kimberly Spence. All of the works are inspired by the word “witness” with each individual artist implementing very different techniques to create a cohesive exhibit. The content varies from painting to photography, tapestries of painted landscapes to comic strips, collage to rock and tile installation, and subjects ranging from an appreciation of nature to political and societal issues. The opening unveiling and celebration on March 11th will also feature poetic readings by a select group of young poets representing the Missoula Writing Collaborative. Allez is thrilled to combine the art of writing with the visual arts, giving a platform to young writers and merging the two art forms for these creative minds to bear Witness to their personal lives and reflections. Allez! Missoula is a revolving outdoor mural gallery that is on view twenty-four hours a day in a well-lit alleyway. Toby and Melissa have been friends since they were little kids. Now they’re in high school, and something’s changed– they’re starting to wonder if maybe they don’t actually have that much in common. As they try to figure out who they’re becoming, they tell each other a story: in a remote little town nestled in the mountains of a magical faraway land (which looks a lot like Montana), an evil warlock builds a castle on a hill and starts causing trouble. It’s up to two kids (who look a lot like Toby and Melissa) to figure out how to stop the warlock. Is there a story big enough and true enough to bridge the space between two friends?

Weep Wave is an Indie/Psych band from Seattle, WA. Bombshell Nightlight is the bedroom-pop project of Jon Cardiello (also of Anything Bagel, Wrinkles, Fantasy Suite, Soft Maybe). Cardiello uses this project to process his innermost self. In 2022 will see Cardiello breathing new life into these songs with a full band of Missoula musicians (Johanna Kohorst of Mermaid Book Club, Noelle Huser of No and Esp, Kale Huseby of Boys and J Sherri, and Sanders Smith of Anything Bagel, Soft Maybe, and Wrinkles). Cosmic Sans is a Missoula made psychedelic jazz rock five piece. The group is Cole Bronson on drums, lead guitarist Seamus Jennings, ambient/rhythm guitarist William “Stos” Stoskopf, Lane Ulberg on bass, and Jake Howell on vocals.
