Weekend PICKS: Thursday, March 24th thru Sunday, March 27th
Get ready! We’ve compiled the most comprehensive list of this weekend’s events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
It’s officially spring! The warm weather through the weekend will have us deliriously enjoying 60+ degree highs through Sunday (and did that really say maybe hitting 70 on Sunday?).
Welcome to one of Montana’s much-loved shoulder seasons:
“Mud season” is already drying out, and many of our local ski areas to continue with respectable spring skiing conditions. Some even with fresh powder this week. Check the links here for current conditions at Snowbowl, Lost Trail, Whitefish, Blacktail and Discovery. TNR is already into the MTB phase for the Thursday Night Rides, and continuing to venture out to the trails on the sunny sides that are dry enough to ride. Good rule: don’t ride if you’ll be leaving big ruts, whether it’s snowy or muddy. It’s early; be patient.
We’re counting north of 70 live music shows of one kind or another in the area. We challenge you to find another part of the country with such a high level of local music to choose from.
The winter markets on Saturdays are still happening to get your local craft shopping fix handled.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. There seems to be an unusually high number of roller skate-friendy venues this weekend. What’s up with that? – but cool to see. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, and Phillipsburg.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

“If you think my winter is too cold, you don’t deserve my spring.”

OhGeesy
The Wilma
131 Higgins Avenue, Missoula, Montana
About OhGeesy
Moving like a chess player, OhGeesy maneuvers through hip-hop with clear intention, knowing exactly where he wants to go and how he’ll get there. During his childhood, the Los Angeles-born Mexican American immediately gravitated to hip-hop. His uncle possessed an impressive CD collection, boasting classics by everyone from UGK and Juicy J to L.A. legends like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. In third grade, he even copied rap lyrics into his notebooks, predicting his fate. In 2017, he co-founded Shoreline Mafia. Within three years, the group picked up three platinum singles (“Bands,” “Nun Major,” and “Musty”) and two gold singles (“Whuss The Deal” and “Bottle Service”), gathered billions of streams, sold out one show after another, and earned acclaim from Pitchfork, The FADER, Forbes, The Washington Post, and Noisey, to name a few. By the dawn of the global pandemic, OHGEESY’s life had changed forever. He became a father, focused on “getting healthy” and he recorded more than ever before. Now, OHGEESY asserts himself as an impactful and inimitable solo presence on the mic. His deft wordplay, head-nodding hooks, and undeniable swagger fuel his 2021 full-length debut GEEZYWORLD [Atlantic Records] kickstarted by the first single “Get Fly” [feat. DaBaby].

The underrated 90s alt-rockers of Semisonic once said: “Closing time, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Words worth remembering, for sure, and most definitely something to keep in mind as we quietly lament AND loudly celebrate the impending departure of Jamie Rogers and Carly Jenkins (the braintrust behind Killing Frost Farms) as they make their way from the hipster-friendly confines of Missoula County to the soon-to-be less boring home of Montana governance that is Helena. And we know of no better way to do that than assemble an incredible all-local lineup of bands (mostly) featuring Jamie Rogers because he has so much free time, including your new favorite Americana singer-songwriter RO MYRA, cosmic-country empaths JUNIOR, the subdued yet triumphant return of indie-country ensemble WORST FEELINGS. The funniest, most rockin’ band you’re gonna see this year CORY FAY & the GOOD GODDAMN plus hangout tunes provided throughout by DJ PAINTBRUSH.

Magic Sword is an ageless tale of good and evil told through an ever expanding graphic novel with each volume accompanied by an original, synth-heavy soundtrack as well as immersive live performances. With the three mediums intertwined from conception, together they create an epic experience for those bold enough to bear witness and come away with a deeper understanding of the ultimate hero’s journey. Armed with a musical and visual aesthetic that has its roots unabashedly buried deep in the golden era of ‘70s and ‘80s fantasy and sci-fi, Magic Sword’s followers are called to another plane of existence where the struggle between light and shadow becomes all too real. The multiverse has aligned to bring the people of the land together for the birth of their album Endless, followed by a tour of the realm searching for the greater good.
