Artist Talk with Jonathan Marquis at Missoula Public Library

Artist Talk with Jonathan Marquis at Missoula Public Library 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2024
Artist Jonathan Marquis shares stories about his “Wilderness Walking” exhibit and the Glacier Drawing Project 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Missoula Public Library

December 4 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

In this Artist Talk, Jonathan Marquis will share the stories behind his decades-long project and debut “Wilderness Walking”, a series of drawings created during his glacier-training trips in Montana’s wilderness areas.

Since launching the Glacier Drawing Project on Kickstarter in 2014, Marquis has walked thousands of miles through mountainous terrain to create the only hand-drawn record of the fifty-nine named glacial features in Montana’s Crown of the Continent and Greater Yellowstone ecosystems. Every year, the artist visits new glaciers, revisits others, and often draws from mountain summits that grant glimpses into some of Earth’s most iconic and intact wildland geographies. The artist’s talk is presented in collaboration with the closing of “Something to Hold”, The Glacier Drawing Project on display at the Missoula Art Museum.
