Missoula’s 32nd annual Festival of the Dead Procession

Missoula Festival of the Dead 2024 on Saturday, November 2, 2024
Gather at 6:15 pm Saturday, November 2 at the XXXXs on Higgins for Missoula’s annual Festival of the Dead Procession starting at 7:00 pm

November 2 @ 6:15 pm 9:00 pm

Join the community for an evening of “Honoring Our Dead and Celebrating Life” at Missoula’s 32nd Annual Festival of the Dead procession on Saturday, November 2nd.

The event will begin at the North end of Higgins Avenue near Circle Square at the XXXX’s at 6:15 pm with a land honoring and round dance by the SnYelMn Salish drum group.

EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the procession that kicks off at 7:00 pm and moves through downtown Missoula.

The journey culminates in the heart of Caras Park, where music, art, and the spirit of community intertwine to honor our dearly departed. Embrace the magic of this cherished tradition and connect with the past in a captivating way that’s uniquely Missoula’s own. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience of love, culture, and togetherness.

We invite everyone to participate in a way that is meaningful to each individual. Please be respectful of others, as it can be an emotional time for some people.

Please respect the few rules of this event mandated by the City and procession insurance: NO FIRE, NO THROWING OBJECTS/CANDY; and NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES.

And please keep the politics out of the procession.

Additional events on November 2 include:
-DIY luminaria and altar station at Caras Park starting around noon
-Dia de los Muertos at the Confluence Center (119 W. Main)

We want to thank our sponsors for making this event possible, but particularly want to recognize the inspiration and impetus provided by The Linnea Foundation and the Mills family, for extending their love for the Missoula community and honoring a beautiful soul who left us far too soon, Linnea Rose Mills. We hope that you will all find a place in your hearts to honor her during this festival.
