SOR’s April concert features the Missoula debut of violinist Kerson Leong, winner of the coveted Yehudi Menuhin Competition and international violin virtuoso known for his “natural command and devastating charisma…intensity that makes his sound recognizable from the first notes” (Le Monde). This young Canadian performer will be soloist in the haunting Fratres by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and the sultry tango “Havanaise” by Camille Saint-Saëns. Our program opens with selections from Stravinsky’s ballet music Apollon Musagète, composed in 1927. Its rhythmically sparkling neoclassic score is the perfect showcase for our beloved SOR musicians. Also included in the program are Ravel’s unforgettable “Pavane” and the String Sinfonia no. 10 by Mendelssohn. We hope to see you in our audience for this bravura afternoon of music that celebrates the conclusion of our 39th season!
