Weekend PICKS: Thursday, November 2nd thru Sunday, November 5th
When did November have such a huge amount of fun stuff going on? It does now! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Halloween’s in the rearview, but that means this week opens up the observance of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead celebrations and processions in Missoula on Thursday & Friday. All are invited and encouraged to remember the loved ones who have passed on in the day’s colorful and respectful activities.
With the turn of the month, it’s First Friday in Downtown Missoula (and also Downtown Hamilton), with many local merchants and businesses hosting free music, food & beverages for the best way to get the weekend going.
We have a major national event happening with the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships bicycle racing weekend at Mavericks Stadium both Saturday and Sunday. If you like cowbell, bikes, beer and crisp weather (and who doesn’t?), the Pan-Am race is a must-do.
UM Griz Football returns to Washington-Grizzly Stadium to host ranked rival Sacramento State for a Saturday night game under the lights, with kickoff time at 6:00 pm Saturday. It’ll also be Military Appreciation Day, and Youth Day at the game.
The summer farmers market season is over, but the early holiday craft fairs are starting to pop up in their place. Get a head start on your gift shopping, and you can head off the craziness six weeks from now. Historical Museum Fort Missoula is holding their huge annual Used Book Sale all weekend at Heritage Hall – it’s the perfect opportunity to load up on your winter reading list for the months ahead. Free Cycles Missoula’s semi-annual Used Bicycle Warehouse Clearance Sale is Saturday – this is your chance to find a really great get-around bike for only a few dollars!
Country music star Jon Pardi brings his “Mr. Saturday Night” Tour to UM’s Adams Center on Friday. Logjam has a hoppin’ weekend with Atmosphere’s “Tour de Friends” show at The Wilma Friday; Jacob Rountree playing a free late-night Friday show at the Top Hat; Patty Griffin at The Wilma Saturday night; and Off in the Woods with a free late-night Saturday Show at the Top Hat.
There are over 90 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of late fall weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the craft markets. Take the family for a crisp autumn hike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
