Easter Weekend PICKS: Thursday, April 6th thru Sunday, April 9th
How much can we squeeze into one April weekend? Thursday is 4.06 Day…We can already predict a Good 1st Friday…Saturday just happens to be Zoo Lovers’ Day…and then there’s Easter Sunday!
The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Easter Weekend PICKS!
Last week was the end of spring skiing at most of the Montana resorts, and we’re all (im)patiently waiting for some decent warmer weather. Looks like we’re actually gonna get the nice days to get outside without being wrapped several base layers.
There are more than 85 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend…we’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of Easter weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people. Take the family for an Easter weekend hike, or get the bikes out for the first spring ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.
Do you have a Western Montana event coming up that you would like to have included on The MUG? Click HERE to submit your event!

Men on Boats at Masquer Theatre
UM School of Theatre & Dance
32 Campus Drive, Missoula, Montana
$15.50 Tickets / $7.50 for Seniors (60+) and Youth (12 & Under)
The University of Montana School of Theatre and Dance presents ‘Men on Boats’ April 6-9 and April 13-16 in the Masquer Theatre of the PAR/TV Center on the UM Campus.
Ten explorers. Four boats. One Grand Canyon. This is the true(ish) story of the daring 1869 expedition to map the Colorado River, as envisioned by playwright Jaclyn Backhaus.
Join this ragtag group of adventurers as they face perilous rapids, impossible waterfalls, and sure starvation … all within the awe-inspiring majesty of the Grand Canyon. Prepare to be thrilled by the unfathomable (and often foolish) courage of John Wesley Powell and his team of volunteers, even as we ask questions about how this story from American history is told.

Cole Decker
Smelter City Brewing
101 Main St, Anaconda, Montana
Hailing from the small town of Petal, Mississippi, singer-songwriter Cole Decker has a unique style of writing and singing that has led to some comparisons to artists such as Corey Smith and Eric Church. His writing style and singing contain influences of traditional country and southern rock.
Cole began playing piano at a young age and picked up the guitar in college. He has been playing live shows for about 6 years and has opened up for acts such as Frank Foster, Parker McCollum, and Red Shahan. Currently located in Bozeman, Montana, he plays shows all around the state both solo and with his band.
Cole’s writing style is honest and gritty. His full-band EP, “Can’t Ruin A Bad Reputation,” features all originals including “Flippin’ The Bird” and “Needles.” He describes this album as a good mixture of the different styles that he enjoys listening to with a perfect balance of slow and up-tempo songs.

Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts bring forth new energy to music fans who love the heroes and outlaws of old. Influenced by the songs and personalities of legends like Waylon and Willie, they drive their sound with blazing guitars and a rock n roll attitude. The band pays respect to classic styles, but anyone can tell from their overdriven sound that they are far from traditionalists. Currently on tour promoting their album, “Tears & Blades.” They were nominated in the Ameripolitan Music Awards for “Best Outlaw Group,” and won “Songwriter of the Year” at iHeartMedia’s Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards. . They’ve shared the stage with some of their biggest influences, including Dwight Yoakam, Shooter Jennings, Blackberry Smoke and many more. Recommended for lovers of both classic country and 70’s rock n roll.

Grab your tickets to witness her artistry, professionalism, and rich talent.
Do not miss your chance to see Midori present her lifetime of talent. Midori’s contemporaries include Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. To put it simply, Midori is a BIG DEAL in classical music!!!
Midori was born in Japan in 1971. Her mother was a professional violinist and she showed interest in the instrument from an early age. She was gifted a violin for her 3rd birthday and her mother began giving her lessons at that time. Midori would make her professional debut with the New York Philharmonic when she was just 11 years old! Since then, she has toured the globe and is one of the most famed violinists alive today. She founded Midori & Friends in 1992, which helps bring music education to thousands of underprivileged children in the United States and Japan. As a United Nations Messenger of Peace, Midori has shared music with children in countries all over the world.
In 2021, she was a Kennedy Center Honors honoree for her lifetime artistic achievement. It is truly an accomplishment to bring in an artist of this caliber for our patrons in the Flathead Valley to enjoy! Before Midori stops in the valley, she will have been traveling around Europe at famous symphonies and philharmonics.

Started in 2017 by the Rimrock Hot Club of Billings, the BSDJ Festival is Montana’s only music festival dedicated to celebrating the sublime music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapellie’s Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Strings and accordions take the place of horns and drums in this infectious European interpretation of American jazz. This year the festival brings together 15 musicians from across Montana including: Cottonwood Club of Helena, Montana Manouche of Bozeman, and Night Blooming Jasmine of Missoula. Dress your best for an unforgettable night of swing, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!

What if you fall in love with yourself the same way you fall in love with another? Winter in Pluto is an experimental musical that tells the myth of Stone, a love goddess who lives in the clouds and controls all acts of love on earth through her television set. Stone is the daughter of the goddess Venus and carries on the tradition of reuniting all beings with their “missing half.” Things change in Stone’s world when she begins questioning her inherited myth – the myth of love that has guided us all for centuries! Stone’s rebellion brings on a winter of change and a summer of self-discovery. Please join us on Easter Sunday for a special premiere screening of the film, an installation, and a live performance.
