Do good. Have fun!

In-Person Cleanup at Caras Park

The Clark Fork River Cleanup is an annual tradition when the community comes together to clean trash along the river banks before spring runoff and high water carry thousands of pounds of urban trash and debris downstream. Hundreds of people–including individuals, families, friends, school groups, and businesses–gather to care for and protect our most precious resource: clean water.

Join us Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, beginning with a cleanup of the Missoula river corridor (from Sha-Ron to Kelly Island) followed by a free BBQ lunch!

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER AT CARAS PARK ON SUNDAY, APRIL 21!

DIY Cleanup

Can’t make it on the 21st? Know of an area outside the downtown corridor needing some cleanup love? No problem! We’ve had four successful years hosting a popular Do-It-Yourself cleanup, which covers over 180 miles of river and results in volunteers removing mountains of trash from banks throughout the watershed. The DIY cleanup is April 21 – 24, 2024 and covers areas outside the downtown corridor. Stop by our office for supplies and tips for a successful day helping the river!

FAQs:

What do I need to bring?

We’ll provide supplies! Other than weather-appropriate clothing and shoes for notoriously unpredictable Montana spring weather, we’ve got you covered.

Do I need to pre-register?

It’s helpful if you do, but walk-ups are welcome!

Can my whole family join?

Yes! Kids are welcome! However, please ensure that you have enough adult supervision in your group to ensure everyone’s safety.

How will I know where to go?

Upon arrival and check-in, CFC staff will welcome you, give you some safety tips, and assign you to a section of the river.

Will I get wet?

Not if everything goes as planned! Although we call it a “River Cleanup,” it’s just the litter on the banks we’re after.

What if I still have questions?

Not to worry! CFC Development and Special Events Manager Liz Murphy is happy to answer your questions. You can reach her at either liz@clarkfork.org or 406-542-0539.

Calling all businesses!

The health of the Clark Fork watershed hinges on multi-faceted community support. Hundreds of volunteers will show up to protect the river this year, and we rely on businesses in the watershed to show up with financial support that makes our annual cleanup possible.

This year, show your customers, clients, and community that you’re committed to a clean and thriving Clark Fork River by becoming a Cleanup Sponsor! Simply contact Liz at liz@clarkfork.org or 406-542-0539, or print, complete, and mail in the form below.
