Learn about seeds and gardening at your library when Missoula Public Library hosts the annual Five Valleys Seed Library Seed Swap. The event will include a variety of gardening resources from local experts and vendors, including free seeds available for you to take home. Seeds to trade or share are welcome; bring your saved seed from last year’s harvest to help keep this awesome program going.

There are three speakers lined up for the Seed Swap:

Lori Elliott, owner of Big Sky Herbs since 1991, located 7 miles west of Reserve St., is a self-taught sustainable gardener and business person. She will be presenting “Cooking with Culinary Herbs 406” which explains the historic seasonality & benefits of kitchen herbs.

Elaine Sheff is the founder and a co-owner of Green Path Herb School since 2016, a clinical herbalist, mom, and author. Her goal is to connect people to the earth, to plants, and to their own healing process. She will talk about her Top 10 Medicinal Herbs.

Paul Buck is a Master Gardener with 15 years of gardening experience at high altitude (CO & MT) and has been saving seeds for 10 years. As a member of the Montana Native Plant Society he has experience with collecting and raising native plants from seed. He will be presenting information on “Seed-saving in Western Montana”.
