Float Like a Buffalo at Great Northern Bar

February 19 @ 9:30 pm – February 20 @ 1:30 am
Float Like a Buffalo is a powerhouse six-piece band from Denver, Colorado, known for delivering explosive live shows and a bold, horn-heavy sound that blends rock grit with deep-pocket funk, catchy rhythms, and soulful grooves. Their dynamic arrangements, infectious energy, and genre-bending style have earned them a loyal following and a reputation as one of Colorado’s must-see live acts. Whether performing in intimate clubs or on iconic stages, FLAB delivers an unforgettable experience that turns first-time listeners into lifelong fans.
Formed in 2014, the six-piece band features Cory Pearman (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jason Clukies (bass, backup vocals), James Steinbach (lead guitar), Jon Cales (drums, backup vocals), Cory “Beef” Meier (keys, trombone), and Luke Story (saxophone, trumpet). Over the past decade, they’ve become a force in the Colorado music scene and beyond, playing iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Gothic Theatre, The Bluebird Theater, and Dillon Amphitheater, where they recently opened for jam-funk powerhouse Lotus. Their festival appearances include two performances at the nationally renowned Summer Camp Music Festival, solidifying their status as a band built for the big stage.
They’ve shared bills with an eclectic list of legends and rising stars, including Sting, WAR, The Motet, Pepper, HER, Turkuaz, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Dragon Smoke, The Main Squeeze, and many more. Following their debut album Back From Nowhere and 2022’s Day Late, Dollar Short, the band continues to expand its reach – including a 2024 collaboration with The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra to explore new sonic territory. Float Like a Buffalo has toured nationally and internationally, earned accolades like Westword’s Best Funk Band and 303 Magazine’s Top 30 Rock Bands, and garnered praise for their “mighty, melodious, sing-along surge…funky footings and mug-melting peaks” (The Wax King). With new music and more tour dates on the horizon, Float Like a Buffalo’s upward trajectory is undeniable – and their party is just getting started.
