Garnet Day at Garnet Ghost Town

The sights, sounds and smells of a 19th- century town will come back to life during this year’s family-friendly Garnet Day at Garnet Ghost Town (35 miles east of Missoula) 10:30 am to 3:00 pm Saturday, June 13

Garnet Day celebrates mining heritage of Montana’s most intact ghost town.

The day is filled with educational and fun events for the entire family.

Some of the activities include learning about Garnet Ghost Town’s history, panning for gold (fee charged), bidding on a dessert at the pie auction, playing old-fashioned games, enjoying free sarsaparilla and huckleberry ice cream, visiting with the Sheriff, listening to live old-time fiddle music, and getting creative at the pioneer craft table.

This event is hosted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Garnet Preservation Association (GPA).

The day’s events are designed to give families a fun, wild-west experience in one of Montana’s most intact ghost towns, located 35 miles east of Missoula.

Parking is very limited, carpooling is recommended.

Some activities, such as the pie auction and gold nugget raffle, require cash.
Lunch will be available for purchase on site.
