Out There: a National Parks Story screening at Xplorer Maps

September 23, 2025 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Out There: A National Parks Story in Missoula
Q&A with director Brendan Hall and guest Jack Gladstone to follow the film!
Xplorer Maps is proud to present a special screening of the award-winning
documentary Out There: A National Parks Story as part of its “Cartography Comes Alive”
series.
This paid event offers an unforgettable evening celebrating the beauty of America’s
national parks and the human stories that bring them to life.
In the centennial year of the U.S. National Park Service, a young filmmaker and his
childhood friend set off on a 10,000-mile road trip with little more than a camera and a
desire to understand what connects people to these wild places. What begins as a summer
journey becomes a seven-year odyssey, capturing intimate stories of those who protect,
visit, and find healing in the parks.
Through breathtaking cinematography, intimate interviews, and a powerful original score,
Out There reveals a deeply human portrait of the parks as places of reflection, resilience,
and connection across generations and cultures. A stunning visual tribute and grassroots
love letter, the film reimagines what it means to find belonging in the natural world and
highlights the power of public lands to inspire and transform.
