Queer Punk Show! New Old Future + Hairspray Queen + Panic Boner at the ZACC

New Old Future is a four piece garage pop, alt rock, grunge band that has been playing in Missoula for ten years. The members are Logan Heindl on guitar, Ezra Clausen on guitar/bass, Zach Froehlich on drums, and Bry Froehlich on vocals and bass. ‘Birds’ is their third studio album. Hairspray Queen owes their existence to not just Nirvana but also to another Missoula band: Senterline. Inspired by Stanley Kipp, Matthew Miller and current drummer PTO’s hard charging Nirvana covers within their original sets, fellow local musicians Kateena Bell (vocals), Dead Ed (bass), Patrick Kirkley (drums) and Gavin McCourt (guitar) worked together to dedicate a full set to the Seattle rock legends. Hairspray Queen covers songs from throughout Nirvana’s catalogue and aims to lovingly perform the artistry, honesty and energy of Kurt, Krist and Dave’s incredible sound.
Panic Boner ensemble is a free music group based out of Missoula. They’re known to be unconventional with their sound making and uncompromisingly abstract in nature and performance. They incorporate elements of free jazz, noise, and no wave and all their gigs are totally improvised. A quick taste of their vibe would be like John Zorn meets Grateful Dead and your getting close.
