Classical Violinist Byron Wallis free performance at Polson Library

Born in Indianapolis, Byron Wallis holds a masters degree in performance from the Eastman school of Music inNew York and a Doctorate from the University of California, having studied violin with Vartan Manoogian, LorandFenyves and Sylvia Rosenberg, and chamber music with members of the Cleveland, Takacs, Juilliard, La Salle, and ProArte Quartets.

After five years as concertmaster of the Great Falls Symphony in Montana and member of the Cascade Quartet,he continued his career in Paris as a freelance violinist, and more recently, violist. With various French orchestras hehas played in the most prestigious concert halls from New York to Amsterdam to Pyongyang. A passionate chambermusician, he has performed with the DaPonte String Quartet, Ensemble Epomeo, the Quatuor Alma, the Octuor deFrance, and has been a regular performer for Festival Deia in Mallorca, Spain for the past 20 years.

In France, his most recent collaborations, on both violin and viola, have been with the Orchestre Nationald’Auvergne Rhone Alpes (Guillaume Chilemme as concertmaster and Thomas Zehetmair as conductor) and with theOrchestre National d’Ile de France. He has also appeared with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse,l’Ensemble Matheus, Les Siecles, Insula Orchestra, and with the Orchestre du Palais Royal as concertmaster.
