St. Patrick’s Day Weekend PICKS: Thursday, March 16th thru Sunday, March 19th

Are you ready?! The leprechauns at The MUG have compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own St. Patrick’s Day Weekend PICKS – Thursday thru Sunday!
Wherever you go, Missoula and all of Western Montana’s towns are chock-full of St. Paddy’s themed celebrations and shenanigans happening. Put on your best green gear and bad Irish accent, and dive in. (If you’re partaking heavily, and many we know will – plan to have a sober driver get you home.)
We’ve about lost count with which “nth” winter we’re currently experiencing. With spring officially starting next week – we’re calling it now; it’s time for spring skiing. Check ahead for the local snow reports, and go! Many of the local cross-country and fat biking hotspots are being groomed and skiied. Get out and shred that gnar!
There are north of 100 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend, many with a St. Paddy’s weekend twist. We’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Have some locally-made corned beef and green beer! Support our local farmers and crafts people. Take the family for a crisp hike or some great spring skiing. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite Irish karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Based on the award winning 1992 novella by Robert James Waller with score and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown of The Last Five Years and Parade, The Bridges of Madison County follows the story of Italian-American Francesca Johnson, an immigrant turned heartland housewife, whose chance meeting with Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer, changes both of their lives forever.
The next four days become a whirlwind of romance which elicits questions in both lovers about the roads we travel and the bridges we dare to cross. At times heartbreaking yet inspiring, humorous, and beautiful, it asks the question…” what if?”

If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. This “offbeat” musician and entertainer took the backroads to Montana over three decades ago and never left (he’s no fool). Today, he performs throughout Montana and the Northwest at bierstubes, corporate events, weddings, schools, fairs and festive brouhahas of every conceivable kind. His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.

It’s a “big bright beautiful world” for everyone’s favorite ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits, runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. But, a fairy tale wouldn’t be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show for the whole family.

It will only be available through the end of March, so raise a glass, or maybe even two! In addition to this special brew, the Meandering Moose food truck will be serving up grub worthy of any pub, with a reuben special in honor of our Irish friends and fellow countrymen. Guests will also enjoy live music (of an Irish bent, complete with fiddle) by The Rock Creek Rounders throughout the night, and the ZACC will provide multiple St. Paddy’s-inspired DIY crafts for kids to create while their parents enjoy a night out. And that’s not all! The Kettlehouse is also running a raffle for a sweet gift basket of merch, including a growler and a free fill-up – and all you have to do to enter is show up wearing green! Live Music with Jamie Hansen
Imagine Nation Brewing
1151 W Broadway St, Missoula, Montana
Born and raised in Wyoming, Jamie Hansen is one of the most promising up and coming artists in the West. Her original pop country sound fits in well on playlists next to Tenille Arts, Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, and Avery Anna. In the past 3 years, Hansen has released a live EP ‘Heart Like Mine’, and seven singles. This led to the Nashville Songwriters Association naming Hansen as ‘One to Watch’ in 2020 and Buzz Music marking her a ‘unique vocal prowess’ in 2021.
Hansen’s music journey began at a very young age. She began writing songs at 6 years old to express her feelings and channel her creativity. She soon fell in love with not only country music, but pop, rock, and the blues.
In 2017, Hansen took a semester off college to test out Music City, where she learned from other songwriters and industry insiders. Hansen then graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2020, the same year she released her EP ‘Heart Like Mine’. Since then, Hansen has lived a double life. Releasing music and playing shows at night, and working at guest ranches in Wyoming by day, Hansen truly gets the best of both worlds. A horse girl at heart, Hansen leads horseback trail rides, runs backcountry guest and hunting camps, guiding hikes, and much more. Her favorite part is getting to play music for the guests at night.
In 2023, Hansen has shows booked throughout Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana. She is excited to release new music in the new year.
