Weekend PICKS: Thursday, February 20th thru Sunday, February 23rd
The weekend is warming up! (relatively) – It’s gonna be a good one to get out for all the choices on your Western Montana fun list – all right here with The Missoula Underground’s Weekend PICKS!
The annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival continues through the weekend, with screenings all over Downtown Missoula, and runs thru Monday.
Enjoy over 40 Montana-made beers, seltzers, ciders and tunes with DJ TRX at the 14th Annual Downtown Missoula Winter Brewfest at Caras Park 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday.
Bring the whole family to the Montana Sportsman’s Expo happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Trade Center in Kalispell.
If slippery and slimy is your thing, the Big Sky Reptile Expo is happening 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday at Missoula’s Meadow Hill Middle School.
You can get your doggies outside to run along with you at Run Wild Missoula’s annual Snow Joke Half Marathon in Seeley Lake on Saturday morning starting 11:00 am. (And they’re still seeking volunteers!)
If you love cover bands and tribute bands like we do, don’t miss Paper Flowers – Remembering Fleetwood Mac at Monk’s Bar in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm Saturday.
Outdoors, it’s warming up! Snow’s still excellent up high. ALL the local ski resorts are open, with more fresh recent snow – plenty of powder! All are grooming and every place’s lifts are fully open. Lolo Pass Visitors Center and Chief Joseph are fluffy and groomed, and several areas in the Flathead have excellent trails for XC skiing. Rattlesnake and Pattee are being freshly groomed in the canyons for classic XC. MTB Missoula is winter-grooming trails at Marshall Mountain Park for fat bikes, courtesy of Fat Bike Missoula – epic! Pull up and bookmark The MUG’s Western Montana Snow Conditions – all in one place to make your plans.
We have over 50 live music events listed for the weekend – plan your indoor sports accordingly.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of winter activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new winter local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area seasonal markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike. Get out for some prime skiing. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.

“February is always a bad month for TV sports. Football is gone, basketball is plodding along in the annual midseason doldrums, and baseball is not even mentioned.”
