Weekend PICKS: Thursday, February 2nd thru Sunday, February 5th
February – Come on down!
The Missoula Underground is here with all the hottest Weekend PICKS to get you out there!
The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS – Thursday thru Sunday!
With this past week’s fresh dump of powder, and temps emerging from the deep freeze, all the local ski resorts are firing wide open – the snow conditions are fantastic. Many of the local cross-country and fat biking hotspots are being groomed and skiied. Get out and shred that gnar!
There are several great opportunities for night skiing and snowshoeing throughout the region. Wax your skis, put fresh batteries in the head lamps, and get out there – it’s a fantastic experience.
It’s another First Friday in Downtown Missoula – the perfect opportunity to emerge from that groundhog cave and get back out for some arts and music to get the weekend started.
Need another good excuse to get out of the house after being cooped up through this last cold snap?Comedy shows about from local Open Mic’s to National level comedians are happening around town throughout the weekend.
There are more than 80 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend. We’ve got options!
Don’t forget there’s a full moon on Sunday night! Recharge those crystals to help your February have great positive energy for the month ahead.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Support our local farmers and crafts people. Take the family for a crisp hike or some amazing skiing. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Free Sessions
Westside Theater
1200 Shakespeare St, Missoula, Montana
Sunday, February 5th at 7:00 pm at the Westside Theater for our next session which will focus on the impact and influence of multiple mediums on every improviser, regardless of their mode of expression.
We will direct a portion of this session’s proceeds and encourage those in attendance (or if you cannot attend) towards a donation to the Memphis NAACP branch to support their efforts to address the horrific violence and display of brutality against Tyre Nichols. http://www.naacpmemphis.org/
A couple quotes to guide this next session:
“I am convinced that the creative process involves more than one element, and in our being musicians, music is just one of them. Simultaneously we are all multidimensional beings/bodies with all these worlds that configure us.”
– an excerpt from Paula Shocron’s piece in Mutual Mentorship for Musicians – M³ Anthology of Writings
and
“Levine recalled the performance as “very ensemble oriented” and noted that “solos were always in service to the dance and the overall piece. It was different than pure jazz because we were all subsumed into doing a music-and-dance piece. We were parts of the whole.”‘
– Rozanne Levine reflecting on a performance of the suite Document Humanum with William Parker, Patricia Nicholson and others in 1976. Included in the William Parker biography Universal Tonality by Cisco Bradley.
