Weekend PICKS: Thursday, March 30th thru Sunday, April 2nd
The first weekend of April already? – No foolin’! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS – Thursday thru Sunday!
It hasn’t really warmed up yet, and there is excellent spring skiing to be found at all of Montana’s resorts. Check ahead for the local snow reports, and go! Some of the local cross-country and fat biking hotspots are still being groomed and skiied. Get out and shred that gnar!
There are more than 90 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend…we’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people. Take the family for a crisp hike or some great spring skiing. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Comedy Film Classic “Safety Last” w/ musical accompaniment by Travis Yost
The Roxy Theater
718 S. Higgins Avenue, Missoula, Montana
The comic genius of silent star Harold Lloyd is eternal. Chaplin is the sweet innocent, Keaton the stoic outsider, but Lloyd—the modern guy striving for success—is us. And with its torrent of perfectly executed gags and astonishing stunts, Safety Last! is the perfect introduction to him. Lloyd plays a small-town bumpkin trying to make it in the big city, who finds employment as a lowly department-store clerk. He comes up with a wild publicity stunt to draw attention to the store, resulting in an incredible feat of derring-do on his part that gets him started on the climb to success. Laugh-out-loud funny and jaw-dropping in equal measure, Safety Last! is a movie experience par excellence, anchored by a genuine legend.
Featuring live musical accompaniment from Travis Yost!
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of this comedy classic!

The Wizard of Oz with Missoula Childrens Theater
MCT Center for the Performing Arts
200 N. Adams, Missoula, Montana
$10 Adults / $5 Children & Seniors
The story is as familiar as it is beloved. A nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her canine pal Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery in the land of Oz.
Our story begins with the Illusionists who set the scene for the tale you are about to witness. With the help of the Munchkins and Glinda herself, the young Miss Gale and her loyal pooch join forces with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and, of course, the Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick Road–side-stepping a Wicked Witch and her ferocious Kalidahs, Flowers that are far nicer-looking than they act, and the loyal Green Guard–on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help.
For they are sure his Wizness will grant their wishes and send Dorothy and Toto back to their home–or will he? We’ll never tell. Come see for yourself!

If Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and John Prine were joined together in some bizarre musical cloning experiment, the outcome would be John Dunnigan. This “offbeat” musician and entertainer took the backroads to Montana over three decades ago and never left (he’s no fool). Today, he performs throughout Montana and the Northwest at bierstubes, corporate events, weddings, schools, fairs and festive brouhahas of every conceivable kind. His original, often hilarious songs make you think, laugh, sing along and raise your glass in a toast to life. In short, he can put a smile on your face.

11th Annual ZACC Mini Show Art Auction & Gala
Event by Zootown Arts Community Center / ZACC
Missoula Fairgrounds
1101 South Ave W, Missoula, Montana
Theme ‘Make It Pop!’
The ZACC Mini Show Art Auction & Gala is now in its 11th year – and on Saturday, April 1, we’ll again celebrate Missoula’s love for the arts in the newly (and beautifully) renovated Commercial Building at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. We love our newest Mini Show venue, as the size of the room allows us to nearly double event attendance from its previous iteration at the Wilma Theater, and auction art of all sizes and mediums.
The Mini Show always brings together Missoula’s creative community to celebrate the arts and show their support for the ZACC. Attendees often dress in theme, and this year we chose the nostalgic and fantastically diverse theme of ‘Make It Pop!’ – so we can’t wait to see what folks choose to wear! Guests at the 11th Annual Mini Show will experience a room filled with pop culture references, from music, to visual art, to food, to poppy Americana. In addition to the festive atmosphere and catered dinner, the event will feature an expansive art exhibit with silent and live auctions, a dessert auction, a cash bar, and live entertainment from a cast composed of longtime supporters and new friends. The 2023 Mini Show will truly be a welcome social experience after a long, cooped-up winter.

This year’s performance is in Montana Theatre in the PARTV Center on the University of Montana campus.
This year, CAM will honor UM alumnus Curt Olds (1994, Bachelors of Vocal Performance), critically acclaimed opera and musical theatre artist. Originally from Butte, Curt has performed on the stages of Broadway, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and internationally. Olds will rehearse with CAM’s performing arts and music students and their collaborative work will be part of the performance.
Support of “Odyssey of Our Stars: keeps the arts and media thriving in Montana. Thanks to donations from alumni, local business and others, this past year alone CAM awarded close to $700,000 in need- and merit-based scholarships across our four schools.

This session is to encourage active listening among all participants and a full acceptance of all musicians. It is a place to grow your musicality and yourself. The FreeSessions is an incubation ground for new musical projects and collaborations. Every month a curator presents a new piece of music or concept or improvisation for the first 30 minutes.
