Take the opportunity to remember the freedoms and fortune we have to be living in Montana USA! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events from Thursday thru Monday in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Memorial Day Weekend PICKS!
Most of Western Montana’s farmers markets are underway for the season. All of Missoula’s markets and many of the major ones recently opened, and the rest will be opening over the following couple weeks. Missoula’s Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, “MisCon38: The Dark Forest” is happening all weekend, Friday thru Monday in Downtown Missoula. You can release your inner nerd at all the related events happening at the Downtown Holiday Inn and many of the surrounding bars and venues.
Thursday at The Wilma is the red carpet premiere of another new locally-produced film,
“Cuisine De La Pocalypse“, starring Kevin Jack, Kevin Sorbo, Emilio Rivera, and Natasha Leggero. Come walk the red carpet and watch the film followed by a Q&A and mixer with our cast and crew. Black tie optional!
The annual Bigfork Whitewater Festival runs high with the Swan River, Friday thru Sunday – besides the world-class kayak and SUP competitive runs through “The Wild Mile”, downtown Bigfork will have a bunch of fun music and after party events each evening.
Throughout the weekend, and especially on Monday, there are any number of Memorial Day events – such as the big Corvallis Memorial Day Parade – to recognize the sacrifices made by our heroes in uniform for our freedoms. Make it to the ones you can, and thank a soldier for their service.
There are at least 75 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend – we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of springtime activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area farmers markets. Take the family for a brisk hike. Get out on the mountain bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
