Well, that was nice of the fantastic weather to wait til the weekend arrives – let’s get it on! Many of the Summer Farmers Markets are underway; it’s UM Graduation Weekend, Mother’s Day is Sunday, and it is glorious out there. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events from Thursday thru Sunday in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
On Friday, the Cancer Support Community’s 3rd annual Food Truck Festival is happening from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pmat Ogren Park at Allegiance Field – 17 trucks will be there – take your pick and chow down for charity!
Many of Western Montana’s farmers markets are underway for the season. Most of Missoula’s markets and several major ones opened last weekend, and the rest will be opening over the following several weeks. MCT’s performances of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” wraps up its run this weekend at Missoula’s Center for the Performing Arts.
Logjam has a couple fun events happening. Thursday night is the Red Shoe Piano Palooza, turning The Wilma into a rockin’ Dueling Pianos bar with proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Montana. Saturday is a huge UM Graduation Party concert with Missoula favorites Shakewell and Desperate Electric rockin’ The Wilma.
Downtown Hamilton holds their monthly Culture Crawl on Saturday 11:00 am to 3:00 pm with all kinds of art, food and music to be found and featured by the local businesses.
Up in Kalispell, the Micro Wrestling All-Stars are throwing down Friday at the Eagle Lodge. (IYKYK!). On Saturday, the Vietnam Veterans of America have their 4th annual Car Show at the Kalispell Center Mall.
There are around 80 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend – we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of springtime activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Take your Mom out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area farmers markets. Take the family for a brisk hike. Get out on the mountain bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
