Is this “Second Autumn” weather? Not sure, but we’ll take it. For mid-November, it’s damn nice out there, and we’re here to help you get outside while it’s so good. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Saturday is Veterans Day – our national holiday honoring veterans of the Armed Forces and those killed in the country’s wars. If you know a veteran, tell ’em “thanks” – maybe cover their cup of coffee or any small measure of thanks goes a long way – they deserve our respect and enduring gratitude.
The early holiday craft fairs are already happening in Polson, Kalispell, Missoula, . Get a head start on your gift shopping, and you can head off the craziness five weeks from now. It’s also the first weekend of the Missoula Valley Winter Market (Saturday, near the Scheels entrance inside Southgate Mall). Culture Crawl Saturday in Downtown features art, music, poetry readings, author signings and special events.
Logjam has another busy weekend with The Mountain Running Film Festival on Thursday, and legendary stand-up comedian Carlos Mencia on stage Friday at The Wilma; the Top Hat has free shows Friday with Mudslide Charley, and Saturday with North Fork Crossing.
KettleHouse Bonner Tap House has their annual First Fire Party on Saturday, with Blue Shadows playing classic blues. Cranky Sam Public House has their big Chili Cookoff with eight Downtown Missoula restaurants competing for the title of “Missoula Chili Champion” on Saturday – get those tickets before they’re sold out.
There are over 60 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of late fall weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the craft markets. Take the family for a crisp autumn hike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
