Autumn begins this weekend, and we have a weather sweet spot with mild smoke-free days, and crisp mountain nights ahead! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Bitterroot Brewing celebrates their historically rowdy Anniversary Party with Tom Catmull bringing some friends along to play live from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday in Hamilton.
Meet up at 6:00 pm with TNR at Bridge Pizza on Higgins for a Thursday Night MTB Ride up into Rattlesnake Canyon for a loop up Sawmill and Ravine Trail and back – finishing with pizza!
Logjam Presents welcomes Goose for two live concert performances at the KettleHouse Amphitheater at 8:00 pm on Thursday and Friday.
We can dream, can’t we? Check out the Bitterroot Tour of Homes ranging from Florence to Darby this Friday & Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Meet up with MTB Missoula at 5:30 pm Friday for a group mountain bike ride at Blue Mountain.
Go on a musical journey “Inspired!” On the Stage with Mike Eldred presented by Amazing Place Music at 7:00 pm Friday at Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
Darby’s Broncs, Bulls & Barrels Rodeo Night Finals will be happening at the Darby Rodeo Arena Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:00 pm.
Western Montana’s farmers markets are in the home stretch for the summer season. Missoula alone has five Saturday markets, and with the rest of the area bustling with fresh local markets every day of the week and weekend. If you love giant round haybales decorated as characters (and who doesn’t?), get up to Ronan for the 14th Annual Harvest Festival hosted by Ronan Chamber of Commerce Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Bike racing in the first two rounds of the MTCX Super Prestige Cyclocross Series starts at 9:00 am Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22 along Six Mile Road in Huson.
Bring the kids to MCT’s performance of Charlotte’s Web at Missoula Children’s Theatre at 10:00 am and Noon on Saturday.
Hot off last weekend’s blowout over Morehead State, UM Griz Football looks to make it 15 consecutive victories inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium when Western Carolina rolls in – Saturday’s kickoff time is 1:00 pm, and the day’s theme includes the Monte Mascot Hall of Fame Induction, Family Weekend, and Stripe the Stadium. Go Griz!
Get festive at the Montana Brewers Association Fall Rendezvous Brewfest at Downtown Missoula’s Caras Park 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saturday; live music from Neal Elder and Travis Yost’s band Love is a Dog.
Enjoy supporting the Grizzly Scholarship Association at the 17th Annual Montana Wine and Beer Festival 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Saturday at UM Adams Center.
There are at least 70 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend – we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area farmers markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike. Get out on the mountain bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
