4th of July Weekend PICKS: Thursday, July 3rd thru Sunday, July 6th
Welcome to the 4th of July weekend in Western Montana! It’s gonna be a big one with Independence Day celebrations all over, from Anaconda, Darby and the entire Bitterroot Valley, Seeley Lake to Bigfork, and the Flathead Valley up to Kalispell and Whitefish, and of course everywhere around the Zootown area in the middle of it all. The Missoula Underground is here to help you celebrate all the holiday happenings, fireworks, live music, outdoor events, and cool stuff going on Thursday thru Sunday. It’s all here with The MUG’s Weekend PICKS!
Walk, bike or float in to Missoula’s annual Funk Music Festival at Silver Park with live local bands, DJs, Food Trucks, Beverages and fun Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Downtown ToNight featuring the Missoula Makers Collective Market, food trucks and live music in Downtown Missoula; with expanded hours 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday Nights June thru August (live music starts at 5:30 pm). Tonight’s live band is Mudslide Charley.
Immerse yourself and the kids with a performance of The Little Mermaid at Missoula Children’s Theatre with performances at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Thursday.
Your Missoula PaddleHeads will be celebrating all Independence weekend with home games at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, starting with Thursday night vs the Great Falls Voyagers at 7:00 pm, followed by post-game fireworks at dusk to light up the Missoula sky. Then, on Friday it’s the PaddleHeads vs. the Glacier Range Riders with another great fireworks show after the game.
The Polson Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Polson Community Fireworks Show at dusk on Thursday, July 3 at Riverside Park; and the annual 4th of July Parade on Polson’s Main Street at Noon on Friday.
Celebrate your 4th of July with everyone in Seeley Lake – events and activities are happening from 7:00 am to 11:30 pm with something for everyone to celebrate our freedom on Independence Day.
The Historical Museum Fort Missoula hosts the 49th annual 4th at The Fort Celebration from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday.
Celebrate Independence Day all day with the First Annual Darby 4th of July Celebration 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Darby Rodeo Grounds.
The Zootown Music Festival is Missoula’s new premier outdoor music festival, featuring world-class artists, local food and drink vendors, and an unforgettable atmosphere Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 at Missoula Fairgrounds.
This 4th of July just also happens to be First Friday in Downtown Missoula and Downtown Hamilton. Many businesses will open late until 7pm & beyond. Come and enjoy your downtown and do some local shopping in a festive atmosphere during the evening hours.
Come to Hamilton for the Community Fireworks Show at Ravalli County Fairgrounds starting at 10:20 pm Friday.
The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce celebrates Independence Day with the annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration starting 10:30 pm at Whitefish City Beach.
The summer farmers’ market season is in full swing, including Orchard Homes in Missoula, Anaconda, Columbia Falls and Ronan on Thursday, Polson and Saint Ignatius on Friday, and all the ones in Downtown Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell, Stevensville, Arlee, and Hot Springs on Saturday morning. On Sunday, there are farmers markets up in Columbia Falls and Ronan to check out.

Bigfork Rodeo Events brings PRCA Pro Rodeo at its best to the beautiful town of Bigfork at 7:00 pm nightly starting Saturday, July 5 and running thru Tuesday, July 8.
Watch the final epic live performance by the legendary band Black Sabbath in the Back to the Beginning concert from the UK with a free screening on the big screen at Missoula’s Dark Horse Bar at 7:00 pm Saturday.
The Great Outdoors will be an unforgettable open-air concert experience with Glacier Symphony at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell at 7:30 pm Saturday and 3:00 pm Sunday.
We have around 60 live music events listed for the weekend – take your pick! It’s officially the summer patio season now. You can’t go wrong with seeking out any and all of the fantastic area rooftop bars and outdoor patios to soak in this fantastic summer Montana weather.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of 4th of July summer weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike – all the trails are waiting. Conditions are perfect just about everywhere for mountain biking. Summer fishing is at its peak. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
