It’s still hot out there! The MUG has compiled the coolest and most comprehensive list of events from Thursday thru Sunday in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Missoula Downtown Partnership’s Downtown Tonight is happening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday at Caras Park featuring local food trucks, vendors and live music from the Tanner Laws Band.
Dwight Yoakam will be live in concert with The Mavericks at 7:30 pm Thursday at Big Sky Brewing Co. Amphitheater.
You can take the kiddos to a grade-schoolers’ performance of “Hansel and Gretel” at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday at Missoula Children’s Theatre. MCT is also holding performances of “The Addams Family” on Saturday at 6:00 pm, and Sunday at 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm.
The Montana Songwriter Showcase featuring Susan Gibson, Tom Catmull, Jenn Adams and John Floridis is happening the Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula beginning at 7:30 pm Friday.
Logjam Presents has another music-packed weekend – Shakey Graves plays with Futurebirds opening at 8:00 pm Friday at The Wilma. Country star Cole Swindell headlines a sold-out performance with Dylan Scott and Restless Road at the KettleHouse Amphitheater on at 7:00 pm Saturday.
Western Montana’s farmers markets are in full swing for the season. Missoula alone has five Saturday markets, and with the rest of the area bustling with fresh local markets every day of the week and weekend. Alberton’s annual Railroad Day Festival begins at 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Saturday, with a parade at 11:00 am, and car show beginning at 11:30 am. This all-day festival features vendors from all over Montana (and beyond), live music, food trucks, loads of activities for kids of all ages, yard sales, dance parties, a parade so nice, you see it twice.
Come out for a good cause at the Stalling Family Winery Fundraiser with the John Floridis Trio at Ten Spoon Vineyard & Winery in Missoula from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Sunday.
There are at least 70 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend – we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summer weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area farmers markets. Take the family for a summertime hike. Get out on the mountain bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly. Stay cool, and wear sunscreen!
