Fathers Day Weekend PICKS: Thursday, June 15th thru Sunday, June 18th
Time to make plans for Fathers Day Weekend! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
The forecast is for spectacularly nice springtime weather through Dad’s day. If you or your pops are into cool cars, it looks like there are some really great car shows and cruises to be found all over. Do we need to remind you that cars & kids go together like dads & donuts?
Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with Seeley Lake’s opening Sunday. The big Missoula Summer MADE Fair is happening Sunday at Caras Park. Surf’s up on our local rivers. It’s green and pleasant everywhere. Prime springtime!
There are at least 110 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of springtime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way. Road trip!
Patio season is officially here – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages on a sunny day. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a spring hike, or get the bikes out for a big ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

Fiddler on the Roof
Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts
526 Electric Ave, Bigfork, Montana
Based on Sholom Aleichem’s “Tevye and his Daughters,” “Fiddler on the Roof” is the beloved story of the small, tradition-steeped town of Anatevka, Russia, where Jews and Russians live in delicate balance. During the course of the show, the time honored traditions of Anatevka are both embraced and challenged by Tevye and his colorful community, as they witness his daughters, Tzeitel, Hodel and Chava, grow up and fall in love in a time of extraordinary change. Fiddler on the Roof’s Broadway premier became the longest-running Broadway musical in history, a title it maintained for almost 10 years. It is a story that captures the essential human longings for love, community, success, freedom, family, and meaning.
Songs include: “Sunrise, Sunset,” the boisterous “If I Were a Rich Man”, and the classic “Matchmaker, Matchmaker.”

Tarzan the Stage Musical
Cutler Bros. Theatre
301 Main Street, Deer Lodge, Montana
Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes, Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend, Phil Collins, and a book by Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang. High-flying excitement and hits, like the Academy Award winning “You’ll Be in My Heart,” as well as “Son of Man” and “Two Worlds,” make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Washed up on the shores of West Africa, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion, as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.

Grease the Musical
Bigfork Summer Playhouse
526 Electric Ave, Bigfork, Montana
It’s 1959, and Rydell High School’s senior class is in rare form. The too-cool-for-school “Burger Palace Boys” are stealing hub-caps and acting tough and their gum-snapping, chain-smoking “Pink Ladies” are looking hot in bobby sox and pedal pushers. The 1950s high school dream is about to explode in this rollicking musical that is both an homage to the idealism of the fifties and a satire of high schoolers’ age-old desire to be rebellious, provocative and rebellious. At the heart of the story is the romance between hot-rodding gangster Danny Zuko and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy Dumbrowski. They had a secret romance in summer, but now back in the context of school, peer-pressure and cliques make their love a bit more complicated. Can Danny maintain his cool dude status and still get make demure Sandy his girl? The whole gang sings and dances around Danny and Sandy’s romance, through such hit songs as “Greased Lightnin’”, “We Go Together”, and “Mooning”, recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Starting off with an eight-year Broadway run, Grease is among the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following, especially among teens!
Songs include: Summer Nights, Raining On Prom Night, Greased Lightning, Mooning, Freddy My Love, The Hand Jive and many more!

Jamie Wyman Band with Hilary O
The Garden Bar
451 Electric Ave, Bigfork, Montana
Jamie Wyman Band delivers a unique blend of heavy folk rock that is both anthemic and focused on the importance of each lyric. Their music recreates the qualities of unconditional love: it tells all the truths, sees you for who you really are, and brings you through the dark back into the light where hope reigns. The music soothes in times of inner conflict and unites in times of global conflict. This is not fast food pop music, it speaks directly to your emotions and challenges us all to build a better version of ourselves and humanity.
JWB released their first studio album in July 2022. “Roads Less Traveled” was all heart and represents the gentler side of their repertoire. Field Trip to Camas Bloom
Lolo Pass Visitors Center
44000 Hwy 12 W, Lolo, Montana
Creation Care will again be hosting a trip to Lolo Pass and Packer Meadows on June 17 to see the Camas flowers in bloom. This annual event draws people from all over the US as Packer Meadows turn a deep blue. This natural event is one all Montanans should see at least once. These are the fields where Lewis and Clark’s expedition passed through on their way to the Pacific. Many Indigenous tribes gathered in these fields to harvest the bulbs of the Camas which were a staple in their diet.
We will gather in the parking lot of the Forest Service visitor center at Lolo Pass at 1:00 pm (Missoula Time; the pass is on Pacific time). If you would like to arrive early and bring a lunch, there is a picnic shelter next to the visitor center. After touring the meadows, there is the option of taking a short hike to an overlook of a Lewis and Clark campsite. We can also travel a bit further into Idaho to walk at Devoto Grove, a beautiful grove of huge cedar trees along the Lochsa River.

Our headliner this year will be none other than Kenny Feidler and The Cowboy Killers from 9:30 pm – 11:00 pm.
Feidler and The Cowboy Killers mix Feidler’s dark and stormy cowboy lyrics with a heavy rock and roll band. The songs draw largely on his years in Oklahoma and time spent chasing rodeos. As an independent artist, Feidler has built his following through a purely grass roots movement from playing music behind the bucking chutes and selling CD’s from the trunk of his old Cadillac to touring nationally and gaining over 55 million streams and counting. They are also bringing in an amazing sound and light show so everyone will get the ultimate experience. Check him out at: https://www.kennyfeidler.com
Kicking off for Feidler will be up and coming Kellen Smith who is a singer/songwriter from Gillette, Wyoming who makes his home on the Daly Ranch. Smith’s devotion to crafting songs wrapped up in Western stories and imagery offers a unique perception for listeners to enjoy and is a well-known Artist on Spotify!
At 3:00 pm, Tanner Laws who is one of our own Montana boys plays a large variety of both cover songs as well as many of his own originals. He has a great following and we will be seeing him a lot!
At 5:00 pm we will have The Nate Champion Band who is based out of Sheridan, Wyoming. They are a 5-piece improvisational mixed genre jam band with an emphasis on fun music that makes you want to get up and dance! NCB is one of the few bands that can pull off funk, deep pocket country, reggae, blues and Americana mixed with catchy originals all in one set. They have been touring Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota for years including touring with Kellen Smith as his backing band.
There will be parking available at The St. Ignatius Schools (76 3rd Ave, St. Ignatius) for $10 with shuttles available or it is a 5 min walk to the venue. Barbara w/ Arrowleaf & Wildlands
Zootown Arts Community Center / ZACC
216 W Main St, Missoula, Montana
$10 // $15 Artist Supporter Ticket
Barbara is a band from Denver, CO, composed of established musicians Bridget Hartman, Anna Panella, and Camilla Vaitaitis. After meeting in mutual pursuit of certificates denoting that they Know About Music, the three moved in together. In a new creative sandbox void of stamped papers and prerequisites, they excavated a fresh, intuitive approach to composition. The infinite jam session that is implicit to cohabitation formed an uncanny scaffold for the natural sound of Barbara— psychedelic, liminal, and vibrant. Barbara has a sound that’s been lived in. Stay for a while, come dance in the kitchen. You can be our fourth-dimensional roommate.
Arrowleaf is an indie rock band from Missoula. Arrowleaf pairs washy guitar work, humming bass, and the occasional riotous trumpet with delicate anecdotes; dreamy conversations are carried by wistful harmonies. Arrowleaf’s 2021 album Getting By tacitly and pleasantly reconciles the unfolding of shared events with specific stories and feelings. Featuring the songwriting of Sarah Marker, the band is filled out by the thoughtful work of Brady Schwertfeger, Jake Whitecar, Peter Puczkowskyj, Amanda Ceaser, and Jon Filkins.
Wildlands is an aspiring three piece Indie Pop band based out of Missoula. The band’s goal is to create and perform electrifying pop music for all to enjoy.
